We LOVED our experience with Lone Star Dog Ranch! There are some forms that need to be completed online (including current shot documentation) and then you can schedule an evaluation for your dog to come in. It's also a great opportunity to check out the facility. I had talked to Travis on the phone and met him when we came for our evaluation interview. Travis is a true dog whisperer! You can see that he truly loves dogs and knows how to handle them. Our rescue dog, Ollie is a border collie and loves to run. He's also an escape artist and after seeing the secure fencing felt that he would be totally safe at LSDR. At home Ollie wears the Whistle device on his collar. It tracks his location and activity distance. I asked if he could wear it during his stay there and they were so accommodating! They even charged up the device for us! We saw a couple of photos they posted of Ollie on Facebook. I could totally relax while we were out of town because I knew Ollie was having so much fun. Our Whistle App showed that he ran 4 miles his first day! I highly recommend Lone Star Dog Ranch!! read more

We have taken our dogs to Lone Star Dog Ranch for seven years and have always had exceptional experiences with them. The staff are friendly and helpful, and answer all of our questions. When we pull into the parking lot the dogs know where we are and get excited to get in and greet everyone - staff and boarders alike. We love that they post pictures each day on social media as well as on the business website so we can check in and see what our babies have been doing. Our pooches are always tired when we pick them up, but are happy and healthy and clearly had a good time. I cannot imagine ever taking our dogs anywhere else. read more

I boarded my dog Charlie here for a week & I was thrilled! The dogs all roam free together & are not crated (except to eat or sleep) so it's like a big "pack". It's a beautiful premises including a big pond, and Charlie showed up on their Facebook page a few times which we loved. I'd like to address the bad review below about the front desk person. Based on the number of dogs I saw there, I think they have overwhelming demand to get in. Plus, since the dogs are not caged, they do have to get detailed background info on every dog plus observe them before they will take them. For me, I felt better about letting Charlie (15 pounds) roam free knowing his new friends had been through the process. Hope that helps. We will definitely use them again! read more

I struggle to give them one star. I posted the pick of the dog I took to the ranch and the dog I picked up-Not a good experience at All! Buddy was set to stay for 7 days- I had gone through the demeanor check making sure he could hang out with different dogs and it went great- I left him on a Tuesday then I got that dreadful call you Never want on vacation (later realizing they call 2hours after the incident) Your dog is OK but there has been an incident- he has a couple lacerations and we took him to the vet for a couple stitches- if you look at the pictures- A Bit More involved than that! We drive 12 hours the next day from Albuquerque to Anna finally going to arrive about 9:30pm but i am told I can't get my dog- the owner Renee, says she has waited long enough for me and must go to her granddaughter's play- I have never met her and SEVERAL people live on the premises and could give me my dog! She said I had to come at 8am -Which I did! No one that knew what happened was there that morning that knew what Happened- they paid the $575 vet bill(which is way too low for what he did) but did charge me for boarding! From the initial phone call it is clearly stated that it was ALL Buddy's fault- It is Pack mentality there -all size dogs together with a couple adults over seeing them- Thank God one person was there to jump in and stop the fight- Buddy apparently trying to hump another small dog trying to establish the pecking order got rebuked (staff word) by the other dog - Buddy yelped and ran so other dogs took off after him- They said he was now prey! Apparently 2dogs got to him and you now see the results- In the initial phone call I am quickly told due to Buddy's behavior he will not be able to come back!! LOL You thought I was coming back?! The 2 dogs that attack him had a couple scraps they said because we asked and they were isolated for A Day! Good Luck other dogs being boarded! They Only time the owner talked to me was to tell me I could not pick him up that night! No One I repeat No one showed remorse for what happened to Buddy- no compassion- No I hate this happened- Nothing!! No video because they do not have video and no pics because no one was taking pics- I know their pics are automatically taken- check them- motion activated pics! You look closely and decide if your dog will be OK with 50-60 dogs of all sizes running free in pack mode. I Made A Bad Choice and Will Always Regret it! Don't Do it! I appreciate the lone star dog ranch for treating my dog that was being boarded like their own. He had accidentally injury that occurred and the staff noticed he wasn't acting right and his leg was injured. They got him taken care and treated for the injury as I was out of town and could not be there. I really appreciate the staff taking the initiative and taking care of him. Lone Star Dog Ranch is the home away from home for our dogs! My husband and I can leave town without any worries. The folks at Lone Star are totally hands on and know our dogs almost, if sometimes, better than we do! We use them for overnight boarding, daycare and even grooming. They also have great suggestions for training that have worked wonders for us! The most important factor for us is that the dogs are not confined to kennels but allowed free roam which is so important to their socialization. We also have the peace of mind knowing that someone is there at all times to see to any problems immediately. I love their daily photos they take of the dogs playing throughout the day...our dogs always look happy and come home exhausted from romping and playing with all their new doggie friends! Called two months ago to receive information about doggie daycare. The woman who answered the phone was rude but the place looked beautiful online so I ignored it. I was told that I would need to fill out the online information and I would get a call back. Still waiting for that call. This place is absolutely the best. My dog loves it. I have tried other pet sitting options over the years. I feel so much better about taking my dog to the ranch. Unlike many other boarding facilities, the dogs here don't spend the majority of their time in a smallish den. They have a very large facility both indoors and out. It is dog heaven! I was fairly happy with having dog sitters that stayed in my home. But even then my dogs spent a lot of time by themselves. Having only one dog right now, I really didn't like the idea of him being alone for many hours. Lone Star Dog Ranch is just such a perfect fit for us. The staff knows dogs so well. I trust them completely. It's a super nice bonus to go to their website and see your dog having fun everyday. Really helped me feel comfortable the first couple of times I dropped him off. I dropped my dog off for 5 days at this dog ranch and when we arrived the owner (older white male with beard) was very rude. He questioned if we did the evaluation, which we took care of months before. My dog didn't even like him, he was barking and didn't want to enter the office. Which is very uncommon for my dog, he's a lab and very friendly. When we picked him up, he had a limp on his left paw, he didn't want I put an pressure on it and he was constantly licking his paw. A few days later he developed a really bad eye infection. My dog has ALL of his vaccinations and shots. I don't know if their dogs or whoever dogs do but, this has never happened. We tried this place because of how much land they have and the pool but, my dog came back sick and hurt. read more

I think Lone Star Dog Ranch is the best place on earth! Heck, I would want to live there myself! I board my two boxers often and this is greatest boarding facility I have found. I love the fact that my dogs are not in cage. They don't charge extra for medecine which is so awesome! The place is always clean and doesn't smell like a dog boarding facility, which prove that it is clean! :) Big plus for me! I also super love that they post pictures all the time :) It's our game when we are in vacations: "spot our dogs" on the many pictures :) As soon as I enter the drive way, both get so excited! We LOVE Lone Star Dog Ranch! Although we have never boarded our 3 dogs there, they frequently go for play days. Rocky, Tasha and Bullwinkle love to go play there. As soon as they see the road they are clambering over each other to get out and go play. They always have a wonderful time, and at the end of the day, they are happy and tired and ready for some rest time. I love that each dog is evaluated first to make sure it will be an awesome visit for all the dogs. The staff is amazing and very knowledgeable about the dogs and their behaviors. They are very caring and loving, and I love that I can go online and view pictures of my dogs and see how much fun they are having. I am also grateful that I can request that they groom one of my dogs and it is such an awesome price.
