They recently moved to a beautiful new facility, and their service has only gotten better, if that's even possible (It was pretty darn amazing before the move). It's incredibly easy to get appointments, and you never feel rushed. When it was time to put our older dog to rest, Dr. J.M. Stalling provided such compassionate care, truly treating our pet like a valued, very-loved family member - as she was to us. He explained every detail, gave us options, and allowed us all the time we needed to say goodbye before, during & after the process. All of the vets here treat your pets with the same importance as human patients. Their follow-through is stellar, with doctors personally calling after hours to check on test results and health issues. I will never go anywhere else as long as I have pets & live within 30 minutes of the location! P.S. I was compelled to leave a review because I am surprised by some of the negative comments posted here. I have only ever witnessed the staff being kind and respectful to clients/patients & co-workers. Also, it's unfortunate, but it seems some people dealing with the stress of a pet who is ill or the heartbreak of a pet loss may be misdirecting their emotions towards the practice.

It left a bad impression and felt very overpriced compared to other options.

Being new to the…read morearea, we relied on reviews to find the right place -- and I'm so thankful my son chose McKinney Emergency Veterinary Clinic. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Taylor Williams and the entire team showed incredible kindness, compassion, and patience. Dr. Williams was gentle and sincere as she explained Beau's condition, and though we already knew the news wasn't good, she made a heartbreaking situation a little easier to bear. When it came time to say goodbye, she treated Beau with such love and tenderness, as if he were her own. It was an incredibly difficult evening for us, but the staff were phenomenal -- comforting, understanding, and supportive through every step. We are so grateful for their compassion and care during one of the hardest moments a pet owner can face.

I was referred to this hospital by 3 people and specifically Dr. Coffman, when I called to book…read morethey got me in the next day at 11am. Wait time wasn't bad at all. My 12 year old chihuahua was very much due for a dental and since we were new clients, she was booked for an initial exam. I also wanted to do a full blood panel first due to her age, so the technician took her to get that done and brought her back within 2 minutes. I thought the results would take a day or two but to my surprise the doctor walked in and had them in his hand. Dr. Coffman went over every single result in depth and said everything looked great to do the dental same day. I wasn't expecting that but he said he could squeeze her in and she would be ready for pick up with in 2 hours. I had also asked if he could do X-rays before hand (not included with dental cleaning). This experience was over the top and exceeded my expectations!!!! When I picked her up, the doctor went over the X-rays with me and showed me a video he took during the dental to explain why he had to extract some teeth. I promise you, you will not find any other vet with such affordable prices AND amazing handling and care for your pet. The service they provided and flexibility they had was absolutely great, if it would have came down to it, I honestly wouldn't have cared to pay a thousand dollars. I'm also normally a nervous wreck when it comes to taking my dog to a new vet due to her age, but I felt so at ease leaving her there because the staff were great from the moment I got there. Dr Coffman has been in practice for 28 years and when I tell you he went over every single thing for me from start to finish, not many vets take the time to do that and I admired that. My little girl came out tail wagging and a little sleepy, ate some food later on that day and slept like a baby. I also want to thank the receptionist and technicians for being amazing, so welcoming, and so kind, what an amazing team this hospital has!!!! Thank you guys, we have officially found our new vet and I am so thankful. Also, I loved the home-y feeling I got from this clinic, nothing fancy and they had giant bird cages with beautiful birds and a glass case of some really cool tools/medicine from the past.

Well, the front desk people have become more attentive & polite... so that is a huge improvement…read more However, a simple appt. took 90 min today. The vet was very friendly but she didn't seem to really know anything. My dog was being seen for a bark-like cough. I expected a throat swab or maybe the use of a stethoscope to listen to his chest. She didn't even look inside his mouth. Instead, she squeezed his throat, so naturally he coughed. She said a few things about a possible trachea issue but then focused hard on my getting him an x-ray that costs $300. So, I said "No, not now". I was then given sheet of paper with the itemized bill and 2 prescriptions were in it. No one told me what was actually wrong with my dog. ‍ So, upon payment, I realized that and had to ask. The vet had to come up front and explain that one was to control the cough, the other was for nausea and she didn't know without the x-ray. That seems very wrong. What happened to actual "care"? It seemed more like a big money grab, so I'm very disappointed.

The last time I was there, the receptionist was extremely rude, and that experience alone left a bad taste in my mouth. On top of that, with their prices continuing to go up, we were already questioning whether it was even worth coming back. We seriously considered taking our business somewhere else. But I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I figured maybe the previous experience was just a bad day, and I was willing to walk through the door again and give them another chance. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for things to start going in the wrong direction again. I brought my dog in because I wanted to have his paws done. I was immediately told that they would need to put a muzzle on him. I asked why, because I had never been told that my dog had bitten anyone. They tried to tell me that he had bitten someone previously, which was news to me. Every time I had brought my dog there before, I had never been informed of anything like that. That is a pretty serious thing to claim about someone's dog, and if something like that had actually happened, I would expect the owner to be told immediately--not to find out later when they suddenly want to put a muzzle on the dog. What bothers me most is that I was willing to overlook the previous rude treatment and the increasing prices and give this business another opportunity. I didn't have to. I chose to. And once again, I walked away feeling like I had made the wrong decision. A business can charge whatever it wants, but when customers are paying increasingly high prices, the least they should be able to expect is respectful communication, professionalism, and transparency. After these experiences, I have a very difficult time recommending Lake Forest Animal Hospital. There are plenty of businesses that understand that their customers--and their pets--deserve to be treated with respect. Unfortunately, this has not been my experience here. We gave Lake Forest another chance. They gave us another reason not to come back.

The staff there from the moment we got there were 100% attentive to him and myself. They began by helping me get Blu out of my car. The initial exam by the Vet was as thorough as I would give on a human patient when I was a medic. It was in no way rushed, it was done methodical and not rushed at all. At the end of the initial, before anything else was done, Blu was given pain meds so he would have some relief right away. Blu needed to have blood work and x-rays. The techs that did this were as amazing as the vet. Everything was done with the focus on what Blu could tolerate. Again, not rushed at all. I could tell that it calmed Blu down and he felt cared for. Thank goodness nothing was broken or displaced. Blu just had soft tissue damage. We were given medication for pain and swelling. I can not even begin to say "thank you" enough to the staff here. They took amazing care of my Blu and also of me. You guys were amazing!!

I am extremely disappointed with the care my 13-week-old puppy, Oreo, received at this urgent care…read morefacility. Oreo suffered a broken leg and was brought in for immediate care. After paying $678 for evaluation, X-rays, and medication, we were told he needed surgery that would cost between $4,500-$5,800. While I understand surgery may be the ideal treatment in some fracture cases, my concern is how he was handled after diagnosis. My puppy was sent home with a painful broken leg and no splint or stabilization whatsoever. I specifically asked about a splint and was told it would make things worse. That meant I went home with a 6.3-pound puppy who could not stand, repeatedly fell over trying to use the bathroom, and had absolutely no support or protection on his injured leg while I was trying to figure out how to pay for surgery. The very next day, I sought a second opinion from another veterinarian. They were able to realign his leg, confirm placement with X-ray, and apply a full splint for approximately $400. My puppy immediately had better support, safety, and comfort. I understand that different veterinarians may approach treatment differently, and I understand surgery may still be needed. However, I cannot understand sending a tiny puppy home with a completely unstable fracture and no stabilization. I left feeling like the focus was far more on expensive surgery than on immediate care, comfort, and practical support for my puppy. I hope this review encourages the clinic to reconsider how situations like this are handled in the future
