I found this salon off Yelp, being new to the area and coming from atlanta im use to having my…read moreweave LAID for under $100. after reading the reviews i thought some ppl may just be overdramatic so ill see for myself.....I've waited about a month to review so that I can also give a review on how the hair that is bought from her is holding up. The hair: still in good condition, my only problem is that it sheds more than what I'm use to. When I comb or even run my fingers through it I have strands coming out. Kina: nice woman, can style very well The weave as a whole: I feel like it could have been done better. The braiding process was fine. Not too tight or too loose. BUT it's not flat. I can't pull into a ponytail without it looking bumpy. I have ALOT of leave out, which I had her bring in and I was assured that I needed that much to cover the tracks. And just as i thought its a NIGHTMARE to try to blend everyday with so much of my natural hair left out. I didn't want to curl and flat iron my natural hair everyday like I have to now. Theres almost no weave in the front so u less my natural hair is curled, the front doesn't look full. Im noticing loose thread as well. So for what I paid, I honestly expected much more than what I received. I paid a lot of money with Kina so I wasn't going to just take it out, but I won't be returning. This review isn't to throw shade but to give my honest opinion. UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO KINA:::: I feel like $175 for a sew in is the same money in DC as in Atlanta. If I'm paying that money no matter what the market, it definitely have high standards and definitely shouldn't be double tracked, which is what Im sure led to the bumpiness. The blending issue was because of too much hair being left out from the first wks. I've had installs longer than 6 to 7 wks and it held up just fine. I have been taken this install down. The weave is shedding excessively but I will not be returning. Thanks for your response and I wish you the best.

The salon is located in the Salon building directly next door to the garage, and it's located all the way in the back of the building (Booth #29) so be prepared to walk all the way around to find it. Because of parking, I'd recommend getting to your appointment at least 20 minutes early because it can be a little confusing to navigate. The shop was a lot smaller than I anticipated from the photos, but it was well kept, clean, and nicely decorated. Though I was a few minutes early, I was pleased that Daria was timely in finishing up the previous client so as to start promptly for my appointment. Daria was pleasant, professional, and pleasing to converse with and overall, I was pretty satisfied with my experience. The only thing that took a star down for me was that she did not really know how to do the style I requested and I had to show her the photo several times before she was able to figure it out. Also, the bobby pins she used were not very good and many of them fell out of my hair and I had to do my best to salvage the style when I got home. I do plan to come back but I would be interested to explore working with other stylists as well.

When I first starting coming to the shop I would typically see a different stylist, but over time I started to only book my appointments with Sharon. I can't begin to express how wonderful Sharon is! Im very particular about my hair, as I've had bad experiences throughout the DMV with other stylists who think they know what they're doing! A few things that make Sharon standout for me: 1- She wasn't just concerned about the sew-in, she paid attention to my actual hair. As a natural I am soo appreciative of stylists that handle my natural hair with care. After my wash and condition, Sharon was extra careful as she sectioned and dried my hair. 2- my braids are tight enough but not too tight. 3- my closure is LAID! One of my biggest pet peeves is a closure that looks horrible. Sharon carefully placed and sewed down my closure and it looks flawless! #whatclosure 4- I got a long bob with layers and Sharon masterfully cut my hair. She didn't do a quick cut with the razor, instead she went section by section checking her work to make sure the layers sit perfectly. All in all, I am completely satisfied with Sharon's work and will continue to come back. She is very meticulous and a damn near perfectionist from start to finish. If you're in the DMV and need a professional (e.g. Great at their craft, customer service oriented), then call on Sharon!

For those who don't know how to find her (I got lost and asked for directions from a stranger I ran into- apparently many people have issues finding the salon), she is located in the "Salon Plaza". Go to the 2nd floor, come out, make a left, and go down the long hallway until you get to the parking garage. Then walk around to your right (you should pass the up hill garage entrance) and you'll see the entrance to Salon Plaza. Andrea was so attentive and nice. She has a room to herself where she provides her hair services. It was peaceful, I felt like my hair was given the attention it needed, and I left with a beautiful sew-in. She is fantastic!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience…read more I actually went to Andrea years ago and stopped using her because of her poor customer service. I decided to give her another chance, hoping things had improved. Unfortunately, they had not. I paid for a sew-in installation and within a two days noticed that the top was very bumpy, uneven, and not laying flat. The issue was obvious in photos and noticeable enough that others commented on it. I reached out promptly, sent pictures, and politely asked if she could fix it. Rather than taking accountability or offering a solution, she acknowledged the issue by telling me the wefts were thick. As the professional, if the hair was going to create a bulky or uneven result, that should have been communicated before completing the service. At no point was I advised that the finished product would look the way it did. When I asked if it could be fixed, I was ignored. After following up, I was met with a dismissive response about not discussing work on her days off and was told she would revisit the issue the next day. She never followed up, never offered a correction, and never attempted to make the situation right. The most disappointing part wasn't even the hair--it was the customer service. Mistakes happen, but professionalism is demonstrated by how you handle them. Instead of addressing a legitimate concern from a paying customer, I was left feeling dismissed and ignored. Because the issue was never resolved, I had to pay an additional $190 to another stylist to remove and redo the installation (@sheweaves). She installed the exact same hair and my install is SUPER flat. I gave this business a second chance despite my previous concerns about customer service, and unfortunately the experience confirmed why I stopped going in the first place. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this stylist and will be filing complaints with the appropriate consumer protection agencies regarding the handling of this matter.

I had an unfortunate experience with another hair salon and my hair broke off very bad around the edges leaving me with a couple of spots that were left bald. I was very distraught. I heard of a salon called Coiffure Imagez in Laurel, MD and decided to give her a call just to look at my hair not even to wash or try to repair the damage. After I spoke with Deanna, she was so calming on the phone and told me to come in that day and she would access the damage. After I got there with my better half, she instantly made us feel better. She not only told us what was wrong with my hair but what she could do the very next morning to correct my hair (which was her day off due to her having family in from out of town for Thanksgiving). I was totally surprised that she took me in as a new client on her day off but she did. She gave me an awesome hairstyle and one that I cannot keep my hands out of and stop getting compliments from. She is classy and topnotch! She truly made my Thanksgiving a good day! Now I have one more person to be thankful for.

I…read morewanted a Brazilian Keratin Treatment on my natural hair, but I decided to try them out with a wash and set first. They got my hair really straight, and at first I was really pleased with how straight they got my nautral hair! I was happy until the next time I washed my hair. Clumps of my hair came out. CLUMPS. Like ten 1-2 inch balls of hair all over the shower floor. And really long clumps, like it was either breaking from near the root or coming out like shedding. I nearly cried in the shower. My hair continued to shed like this for two more washings. :-( Flashback. The only thing I'd done differently to my hair in the past few days was go to this salon. I asked for a wash and set. The lady (not Rachel) washed my hair, my natural hair, very vigorously so as to knot it up. Mistake number one. Then, mistake number two, she tried to comb it from the root out! Yeah, that didnt work! All I heard was my hair snapping, snarling and breaking. I had to break out my Denman brush and show her the way. Then, in Spanish... and I hate this! I hate when they talk in Spanish around you. It's very rude. But I speak Spanish, so I understood her when she told the other hairdresser how tough my hair was. I'm thinking, "Oh boy, here we go again..." She then offered to put a "hot oil treatment" in my hair, for free! Rachel recommended it too. I obliged. Fast forward to the roller set. She needed help to roll my hair (too coily for her :-( ). Rachel took over at this point. Then when blow drying I keep hearing my poor strands snapping and breaking. The end result was typical, dead straight and really flat with a little curl at the end and lots of shining oils. I'm not a fan. :-( But I pay the bill and tip her well. Then the next time I wash my hair, it fell out in clumps and the texture was different. It was more rough and a lot less coily. Some parts were wavy. I'm positive it was the "hot oil treatment" that caused the clumps of hair to fall out. Anyhow, that was my first and last experience with them. You have been warned!!! BTW, this experience was in July 2011.
