The Bargain! Shop

My best friend suggested that we visit The Bargain! Shop in downtown Oshawa. I was game. I frankly don't remember ever stepping into this chain anywhere. It's street parking in the downtown area. It was a Saturday, so parking was free. I got there first. I waited for my friend to park and then we headed over here. The Bargain! Shop originally gave me Bargain Harold's vibes when I was outside the store. Those vibes stopped when I walked into the store. It had a lot of knockoff merchandise. Adidas. John Deer. Bench. Clothing was branded with these names. Yet, the quality wasn't there. I looked at a pair of Adidas pants that were so thin that it was borderline horrifying. I also didn't find everything in this store to be a bargain. Squishmallows were more expensive than getting them at Shoppers Drug Mart, which surprised me. There were ICEE drinks. My friend said that they were much cheaper at No Frills. It really depends on what you are looking for, though. A bunch of Tootie Pops were going for $1.69. That's decent. This store sold my Dare Ultimate cookies that I love. It had the ice cream-inspired (that is, mint chocolate chip) flavour that you typically don't see at a discount store. The fudge was there, which was typical. I convinced my best friend to try the former because I kept raving about how I love this line of cookies. What is special about this store is that it sells elastic that you use for pants. I was trying to find some to fix my pyjama shorts. Oddly, Fabricland didn't carry this type of elastic. This store did. I was elated! Whenever we hang out, there's always someone who asks us for help to locate something. I remember us distinctly standing and chatting on Queen Street East in the Beaches, and a person asked us for directions. We were in the food aisle (not really a surprise... haha) and an older man in a motorized scooter asked us where the marshmallows were. We were looking at cookies, so we didn't know. He scooted up to the front to ask for help there. We both realized that the marshmallows were where he was earlier. He was parked in front of them and asking us where they were. Ugh! We both yelled at him to come back. He was hard of hearing. It was the perfect storm... haha! The woman at the front, Shandy,b walked over to us. She had heard us and thanked us for helping out. She brought a bag each of the small, medium, and large marshmallows to choose from. I ended up finding a picture frame for a print that I had recently bought. My friend picked it out for me. The price was right and it's of decent quality. Customer service was excellent here. This woman was nice when we were ready to pay for our items. My friend paid for her box of cookies with cash. The transaction was straightforward. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. The woman asked if I needed a bag. I was okay carrying my items to my car. She nodded. We thanked the woman and left. We then headed to our cars and drove off to have dinner. I was happy with my purchases. The bargains really depend on what you are looking for. I was pleased with my purchases. (271)
