Update from a previous review: Six months ago I went to…read moreWendell's for the first time and left a 3-star review. Long story short, it was an ok experience but the stylist wasn't really right for my hair. Since then, I've been back four more times to see a more experienced stylist (the same one all four times) and I love it. I hope to continue seeing her for a very long time. The moral of the story is that there's someone out there for every head of hair. Don't give up on a place just because you don't click (or your hair doesn't) with the first person you see. There are MANY stylists working at Wendell's. Keep trying, and I'll bet you'll find a winner too!

It's tough to find a good barbershop, so when I found headlines on Yelp I was hopeful. I've been to headlines 3 times. #1. I called prior asking if they took walk-ins. The person on the call said yes, so I dropped by in person the next day. The shop was closed, even though it's hours were listed as open on Yelp and Google. I waited for 30 minutes until I saw someone open the front door. It was Mike the barber. He told me that he's booked until noon, and that I needed to make an appointment with him. I took this encounter as a mistake on my part and assumed that it was my poor communication (they said they'd take walk ins but never specified that it was anytime). I made an appointment with Mike for another time. #2. I arrived right on appointment time. The shop was closed. Nobody was there. I waited again for 10 minutes until Mike showed up. Then he had to leave for a family emergency (which I completely understand). I waited for an hour before he came back. Mike's comprehension and communication was lacking. I asked for a dropback (i.e. a medium taper on the sides down to a low taper on the back). Mike listened to what I said and assumed I just wanted a combover. Mike ended up giving me a low taper all around. He didn't even look at the pictures I showed him. Don't get me wrong, Mike did a great job. But it wasn't the job I had asked for. #3. I assumed both previous times were lapses in my communication. I gave it one more shot. I arrived at the barbershop and tried to open the door. Again it was closed. I waited 5-10 minutes because that's the polite thing to do. Then I texted Mike. He told me he had left the shop because he did not see me at the appointment time. Then I knew that the communication issues were not my fault. Any person with common sense would text, "Hey where are you" if someone was not there at the exact time. Or wait 5-10 minutes for politeness. But perhaps this courtesy is another cultural difference. I texted Mike feedback regarding his inability to be on time. He did not take feedback well and told me that he knew how to ran his own business. Mike. I get it. I'm just one of your many many customers. However, if you can take something from this encounter, it's: 1. Communication is key. Please make sure that you're on the same page with your client both regarding the haircut and your timeliness. 2. Feedback is essential. As we're all working adults, there's no school to teach us. The only things that can teach us are our interactions with others. Try to be receptive of feedback. That being said, I do NOT recommend this shop. Do not go here if you value your time.

I came to this location on 05/16/2026 around 10:30-11:00 a.m. as a walk-in. The vibe of the place…read morewas decent -- I believe there were 4 technicians and around 5-6 customers throughout my service. The atmosphere itself is beautiful though. The salon has a pink and gold theme with butterfly decor throughout. It does seem like an older salon, but aesthetically it's very cute. I had actually been here once before in 2023 and didn't have the greatest experience, but I wanted to give it another try. When I arrived, I was greeted and serviced almost immediately. The technician was kind, but communication was difficult due to the language barrier. We communicated through Google Translate, which was completely fine, but I don't think she fully understood what I was wanting at first. For example, during the pedicure I chose acrylic on my toes rather than shellac. It was my first experience getting acrylic on my toes, and the service menu only listed acrylic tips, so I wasn't exactly sure how to explain what I wanted besides a short French-tip design. Eventually we were able to understand each other and figure things out, but it took some time. The pedicure itself was mediocre. There wasn't really much of a massage, but I did like how my toes turned out. By this point it was around 1:45 p.m. While she was applying the acrylic, another technician who spoke English well came by and asked what design I wanted for my nails. I showed her my inspiration photo, and she said she would have it ready. After the pedicure, I was moved to a table but waited about 15-20 minutes. The technician I assumed was going to do my nails ended up taking another walk-in client instead. It wasn't a huge deal, but it did seem like the English-speaking technician kept trying to pass the service off to the other techs before I eventually ended up back with the same technician from earlier. Because of the amount of time the service was taking, I ended up having to switch to a much simpler nail design. I appreciated that the technician took her time, but I was nicked a few times during the process and there was acrylic left on my skin. By the time I left, it was around 3:15 p.m. I don't fault them for the language barrier at all -- the overall service just took a very long time. Unfortunately, only 9 days later, I already have 2-3 nails lifting and pretty bad hangnails. Overall, I don't think anyone was intentionally rude, and I appreciate the technicians trying their best. However, the overall experience was very time-consuming and the quality hasn't held up well after only 9 days. The salon itself is beautiful, but I'm not sure I would personally return.
