I dropped my e-bike off for a tuneup. Manager Rob and his staff did a superb job. I was first welcomed by Brandon in the service department. He explained the tuneup he recommended and offered a few tips to help maintain my bike. He was friendly and considerate, not condescending. But today was the tops!! I picked up my bike. There are a few great biking stores in Omaha, and Bike Rack is one of them. They have a large showroom that holds a varied inventory of bikes, and just about every and any biking accessory that's necessary. Additionally, the staff here is great, knowledgable and happy to let you test the bikes or ask questions. In the back, they do tune up and repairs, with a fast turn over rate thanks to a large workroom with the right equipment and lots of staff. It mainly seems like they sell Trek bikes here, and a solid women's or men's bike will be 300+ including any sale or seasonal markdown. After spending a huge amount of money on an electric bike for my wife, it didn't seem to be operating properly so I brought it in for warranty service. After a great deal of discussion, and not finding anything wrong, they gave me some coaching on how it should work and sent me home to try it out. I haven't yet gotten home to try it out And make sure that it works properly, but I'm rather upset that they charged me for what I feel should've been considered warranty service. It was only 20 bucks, but it's the principle. I'm very unhappy with their idea of customer service. I went in to pick that bike up planning on buying a $110 frame bag for my bike And after this happened I realized that there are lots of bike shops out there, there are lots of frame bags out there, I can find one elsewhere. Biking has gotten more interesting. I'd say if you're looking for a lot of selection/inventory you'll find it here. Everyone seems pretty friendly and knowledgeable. Nobody seems interested in selling you too hard so that's nice but you just have to go in knowing what you want. Tuneups seem pretty expensive and far out to schedule but we'll see how they do in a couple weeks. I scheduled it. Truthfully, I kind of miss our Omaha bicycle company in Benson since they closed. Hadn't rode my bicycle in years (been in garage), and I wanted to get it checked out. Took it to Trek Bicycle Omaha West and had someone help me get it out of my car. Then quickly looked at it, checked my tires, oiled the chain, made a tad adjustment to my breaks and said I was good to go. Then helped me get it back into my car. No charge!! The chain on my daughters mountain bike (with lots of gears) got thrown off track and there's no way that I could fix it. Walked into the store (which by the way, looked very well-stocked with lots of bikes, accessories and more), was greeted right away by a gal who came to help me take the bike out of the car so someone could take a look at it. We walked back into the store with the bike & a man walked up right away and looked at it on the spot! Talk about impressed! He fiddled around with it for about 10 minutes, testing and am adjusting and said it was fixed. I totally expected to drop the bike off for someone to look at and have to come back and get it another day. Never in my wildest dreams did I anticipate taking the bike back home fixed, the same day AND he wouldn't even charge me for making the adjustments. Went there to get some bike repairs. The bike mechanic was cool, quick, and thorough. Fixed the problem in 15 minutes or so. Given that he only had to make some quick adjustments, and it wasn't a larger problem, he didn't charge me any money. Store seemed well kept, well staffed, well stocked, and staff seemed very knowledgeable. Very impressed with the honest service. I've been to the bike rack a total of three times and service was terrible. I'm not sure if its because I'm black but all three times I've been there I've felt ignored. I looked around for a while waiting for help in looking for a front rack. Another customer came in and they received help instantly. After a while I finally had to go up to the service desk and ask them for help and they almost sold me a back rack but I had to correct them. After telling me they do not carry front racks they went back to doing nothing and I just stood there looking at the wall. They didn't even offer to order one online for me. I finally left and went to Ponderosa Cycle + Tour and their service is 1000x better. Help right away and ordered online for me. Not Saying they are but they came off racist. I have been to The Bike Rack at least a dozen times. I have bought a bike from them, and they have serviced 3 of my bikes. The people are friendly, knowledgeable, and care more about your happiness/comfort/understanding of the machine than making a quick sale. If you buy a bike there, they do quick checks and adjustments for free--cant beat it with a stick. In fact, I took a bike there I bought used from a person and they even gave it a once-over without trying to throw a bunch of charges at me. Now, it didn't need much adjusting(which certainly would've justified a charge) and I spent a little money there anyway, but big picture... I purchased a new bicycle from here on a whim. I was looking for a hybrid bike, and the gentleman that helped me pointed me right to an entry level Gary Fisher bike, which had already caught my eye. I bought it on the spot. I never felt pressured into buying or jazzing the bike up with accessories...I did that on my own. I decided to upgrade to a faster, puncture-resistant tire, and they gave me a discount on the new tires for swapping with the ones that came on the bike. Just bought our second bike there because everyone says how great they are. We have not found that to be the case. Each time they are unaccomodating and not particularly service oriented. Be careful when you purchase a bike there because the sticker price might not actually be the price. When you checkout the price will be suddenly higher. If you ask them only then will you be informed that some of the features on the bike are actually add on which they are willing to remove if you complain. In our case it was a kickstand which is not a big deal but getting hit with an extra $22 at checkout is definitely annoying. They behave as if they are the only shop in town. They most definitely are not. Next time we will be sure to look elsewhere read more

I bought my bike at the Bike Rack, on their annual summer sale. A nice Trek for close to 40% off. It was a great price on a good bike, and the service there has been fairly decent. They have a very large selection of bikes, clothing, shoes, helmets, accessories, etc. When you go in, the guys are not really anxious to help, but that's often a plus, for they'll help you right out when you ask for it. . The service guys aren't particularly friendly, but they do an OK job. One huge plus that earned them an extra star is a series of maintenance classes they've been putting on this winter - very informative and good for all levels. read more

I bought my current hybrid here, and overall, the Bike Rack provides a positive experience with friendly service. There is a good selection of pretty much any bike you would want with a decent variety of accessories. Bike Rack has built a strong reputation, and because of this, they're able to charge premium prices for products and services. However, my last visit was one for service. I opted for the $99 tune-up. When I brought it home, I was happy to see that they did a great job lubing up and cleaning the bike. However, I was disappointed to find my tension bar on my front brake left undone, my rear tube with a new leak, and my rear derailleur adjusted far worse than it was when I brought it in. These are rookie mistakes and not what I would expect from Bike Rack. I may still shop there for some things, but I won't go back for service. I'll be visiting other shops from now on to see what other options are available. read more

I had a problem with a bike that I did not buy at The Bike Rack. The company told me to take my bike to Bike Rack to see if they could fix it. Unfortunately, they could not, the problem began when the bike was manufactured. The company told me to box up the bike and send it back. I asked Paul at the Bike Rack if he had a box I could use. Not only did he give me a box, but he and Blaine boxed it up for me and carried it out to my car. They went out of their way for me. I will be taking all of my bike concerns to them in the future. Bottom line up front: they didn't keep the promises they made to me. I have a Chinese-made pedelec I bought four years ago in Germany and use as a daily commuter. It developed a short in the electrical system. Yelp loves The Bike Rack, so I called and detailed my problem. The service tech made two promises ... they would tell me if they could fix it when I dropped it off, and if they said they could fix it they would finish the job in 24 hours. I dropped it off at 10 am Friday. The tech couldn't tell me on the spot if they could fix it, but said he'd charge me the hourly labor rate and troubleshoot it. I signed the labor sheet and went back to work to await a promised phone call. Right before the store closed at 8, I called for an update. The service tech said the store manager wanted to spend some time with it over the weekend. I reminded the tech that the bike is how I get to work, and I had to have it for Monday morning. The tech said they'd call when the bike was ready. Saturday passed in silence. Sunday afternoon I picked up the bike. The techs hadn't opened the battery case or the regulator case (I know because I had wrapped them in duct tape before last winter). Two full days with nothing to show for it. But the reason they get three stars is because they didn't charge me the $70 hourly rate for whatever it was they did. Side note: after 20 minutes in my garage I found the broken wire, and 2 hours later I had it rigged to work again. read more

I'm into instant gratification, so when I wanted a bike I wanted one that weekend. I tried the Trek store and found something I liked, but it would have taken 10 days to get one into the store in my size. Checked out The Bike Way and found something I liked, but again, not in my size. Checked out Olympia way, but the bike that fit my needs was a little out of my price range. So, I ended up at the Bike Rack. They have a large selection - up one star. But, no one could find the time to help me - down one star. Luckily for me, I didn't end up needing help wtih bike selection because I saw the same bike I liked at Trek for $20 less and in-stock in my size. Up another star. So, I wheeled it up front and then got a little more help - once they saw I was buying? The process of checking out and getting the accessories went fine. I also found out that I get a lifetime of free adjustments there - up another star. But, then I took it home and went for a spin and the chain popped off while I was shifting - so I needed those free adjustments the next day. It turned out, they hadn't tightened a screw well enough when putting it together - down a star. I'm giving them three stars, but we'll see how things go in the future. read more

Bike Rack had a great tent sale this weekend, and I have been looking at a specific road bike that I knew was going to be on sale. Arrived and was taken aback by how busy it was! Took a while to find a salesman, but when I did he was very helpful and even upsold me to a bike twice the price of my original selection. Awesome. However, I couldn't finish the sale because the salesman was pulled in 6 different directions with other guests. After alluding to me that it would be a bit, I told him I would go grab some lunch and come back in a bit, hoping the traffic would have slowed a bit and I could close the deal. I come back from lunch and the traffic is still nuts. Another hour of waiting to get my deal done. Apologizing to me periodically, I told him 'no big deal.' After approaching 3 hours of trying to get a bike, I suggest that I run an errand and hope again that the traffic will have slowed upon my return. He accepts the offer, I run to the hardware store. I return and find the traffic has slowed a bit. I spend a few minutes hunting for the salesperson, and when I do, I tell him I'm ready to do the deal - credit card in hand. He simply says "sorry, we just pulled our drawers so we can't sell you anything." Furthermore, when I ask if I can come back tomorrow, he says he'll TRY to give me the same price, but "no promises." I see positive reviews, and I've experienced positive transactions here so I'm trying to chalk this up as an isolated incident. However, after spending the greater part of my Sunday waiting to GIVE someone money, it's utterly disappointing to not only be told I can't buy the bike, but that there is a sporting chance that I have missed out the sale price altogether. I am a GM for a local retail store and have been for several years. I get the pressure that a salesperson succumbs to when they have to balance multiple guests simultaneously, so I was trying to help him out. However, no attempt was made to prioritize me, and certainly no effort was made to go above and beyond for my business. I'll attempt to connect with their management and hope they are willing to listen and react to my concerns, but for now it's two stars. Expected more out of you guys. read more

They said they would replace it but asked for proof of purchase. I didn't recall when I bought it. We purchased a bike from here a couple of weeks ago and the sales guy said if there is a sale within the next month they will refund the difference. Well, a sale is on so I went back to get my credit. I talked to the guy that sold us the bike (he didn't remember me of course or our conversation) and said a manger will have to do it. The manger came over and said, sorry, we don't give credits like that. I told him the sales guy standing next to him said it would be no problem when I bought the bike. WRONG! So after much deliberation he said he'd give me a store credit. I wasn't thrilled, but said OK. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!! Then he proceeds to tell me we purchased a 2018 model ( in July of 2017) and the sale was for 2017's and older. In the end I left the store with nothing. I will buy all my new Trek bikes from the Trek store in papillon exclusively now. I'm done with this place. All of my accessories will mostly be from Amazon with my prime membership and sometimes the Trek store. The customer service is horrendous at The Bike Rack in Omaha. They aren't even excited about selling bikes. Most of the sales guys seem just unenthusiastic and ho hum. Apparently, they don't care about keeping customers. Note, I bought another bike earlier this year from the Trek store and they even gave me a discount when no sale was going on. Lastly, remember there is almost a 50% markup on Trek bikes at any store so they do have room to wiggle. I've seen the prices they pay for myself on their computer screen. Believe it! read more

Im somewhat irritated with the "help" i got. The saleslady that helped me the day I bought the bike seemed a little bit uneducated on how to size a person properly for a bike. In fact, i think she was just acting like she knew, because i ended up with a bike WAY too big and have NOT had as much fun riding it. When she told me what size I needed, I gave her a look and told her that I had been sized previously at a different shop, where I was informed i needed a smaller bike than she suggested. She gave me a wierd look suggesting that i was stupid and the person that sized me didn't know what he was talking about. Then when i made a logical point she shook her head and said thats not right. Unfortunately to my dismay I bought the bike. I ended up taking it back to school with me in the mountains and have tried to ride it on some trails but have just been frustrated at how much I have fought to stay on the bike. i adjusted the seat as far forward as i could, but im still sitting too far forward. Im quite dissapointed that they did not have an educated salesperson to help me. I'll be hesitant taking advice from them again. read more
