I don't normally write reviews but I did feel compelled to write a review for Sy's tailor shop. I bought a wedding dress for very cheap but it was a little too small so I was looking for tailors in the area that could turn from a zipper to corset back. I have never been to a tailor before so I didn't know what to expect but I called a few places and she seemed very friendly on the phone and seemed knowledgeable so I decided to give her a try and I am so glad I did! She was very kind and professional. I probably stopped by at least 5 times for fittings and adjustments and she always made time to be of assistance and help make my dress look perfect. For the amount of time she spent with me over several sessions I felt like the pricing was very reasonable and affordable. Her staff was also very nice and helpful. I brought my wedding dress to Sy's Tailor Shop two days before my wedding after picking it up from a different tailor and still being unhappy with how it fit. Nafisa was wonderful and knew exactly what needed to be fixed as soon as we took it in. She was so understanding and was able to do the alterations the next day, at a very reasonable price. I have used Sy's Tailor Shop three times this year and have found the staff to be both friendly and competent. The first time I used them was to have my suit pants let out (thanks to the good restaurants in Omaha). The second visit was to have the sleeves of a new jacket shortened. When they were finished, it looked like the original. On the last visit, I need to have the legs on three pairs of jeans shortened. There is no difference between the new stitching and the stitching on the rest of the jeans. I dropped the jeans off on the 11/24 and was scheduled to pick them up on 12/2. Late on the 27th I found out that I was leaving town on 2nd and need at least on pair of jeans, I called them early on the 28th and asked if they could get at least one pair finished by the 30th. They got all three done by the 30th. The do an excellent job at a reasonable price and are customer oriented, I'm not sure what more you can ask for. read more

I have taken items here a total of three times now. I am given a date of two to three weeks out. Yet, every time I have shown up, I get the response of I haven't done them yet. Would have appreciated either a phone call to let me know that or giving me an actual due date that works for them. I would not recommend it as they also have you pay upfront. Sy's is kind of a no-nonsense type of tailor shop. If you want someone to swoon over you, give you a lot of personal attention, and be your friend... this isn't the place. If you need to get some pants hemmed and want to spend only 10 minutes in the store dropping them off over your lunch break... look no further. I don't know how to describe it any better than that. Sy's isn't here to custom tailor and cut clothes to fit you in the most flattering way possible. They're just going to make sure it doesn't look stupid, fall off, etc. And most of the time, that's all I need. read more

I took a pair of jeans in to have a new zipper put in. I'm guessing I got taken. They charge me $16 upfront before they would do the work. I was told they would be done November 18. I went on the morning of the 18th at 11:20 AM and the sign on the door said closed from November 15 to 23. But they said they would be open from 11 to 3 during those days for pick up. The door was locked and store was dark. I went back this morning November 24 and a new sign on the door says due to the health and safety of our employees we are closed. So now will I ever get my jeans is the question. I see they have been rated best in Omaha before. The only thing they're best at is ripping people off. Avoid at all costs! read more

Sy and his staff are wonderful to talk to and provide excellent services. I have been going to him for years! He has altered jackets and skirted suits for me as well as T- shirts and leggings! I am only 5'2" so a lot of my clothes require alterations. His prices are reasonable and he is there for you in an emergency. My grand daughter needed her First Holy Communion dress steamed and pressed and he was able to do it... same day! Sy also shorten the sleeves on a baptismal gown and did an excellent job with that too. Several years ago I got tired of carting my wedding gown around and he made handkerchiefs from the materials and lace for my sons to present to their brides to be for " something old." I just love to visit with Sy and his staff at the shop. They are very personable and kind people and always greet me by name. read more

I have taken many things to many different tailor shops over the along a period of my life, and Sy's is outstanding. He works quickly, efficiently, and his staff is very helpful. I brought a suit here that I had been wearing for far too long, and that has never really fit me very well. Now it fits, it looks great, and now when people see me in it they won't think of a 12 year old wearing his father's sportcoat anymore. The $60 it cost to get the suit and pants to fit properly was a steal compared to replacing the pieces. Tailored clothing is a wonderful thing, and Sy's is well worth the expense. Excellent service, great place to do business with. While I was there, another customer came in bridesmaid's dress was not quite done on time, and the job needed to be done buy it today. Sy and his is staff rearranged their schedule to allow themselves to take care of immediately, so that he could meet the customer's expectation. He takes care of his patrons! read more

They worked wonders on my wedding dress! They hemmed it and then took from the bottom and sewed into the side (bc I had gained /:) and charged me a reasonable price for the work. Very friendly. But, I'm giving 4 stars because they were very un-timely and would give me a day they would be done, I would drive all the way out there only to find that they didn't even have it done. But! It came out beautifully and my dress was perfect for my wedding day. read more

I purchased a dress online that was clearance for a formal event, and when I received it I realized it was a little too big up top. I looked up different tailors in Omaha and saw that Sy's specialized in "homecoming and prom dresses," so I brought my dress in to them. I dropped my dress off 17 days before I needed it done. When I arrive at the shop at 10:30 am to pick it up, it wasn't there. They told me that the person working on my dress hadn't brought it in yet, and they would call me when he had. So I waited by the phone until 2:30, then I called them. Still nothing. By 4 o'clock I decided that I would go in to see what was going on. Long story short, my dress wasn't finished because he had scheduled it for the wrong day. The tailor agreed to have my dress done by 10 pm that night. At 10 pm, I arrived at the shop. I tried my dress on, it seemed to fit better than before and I was tired and grumpy, so I proceeded to ask him how much it would be. My bill was $130. When I got into my car I realized that it smelled like cigarette smoke. I called the next day, and I was told that my price was a discount. Sy apologized to me, and told me he would talk to another person there about getting me a better price (4 days later I still haven't heard from him). He offered to pay for the cleaning due to the cigarette smoke smell (he told me just to send him the bill) but I left my dress hanging out of the bag to air out the smell, and by today I thought it was pretty good to go. When I finally tried it on for the event I realized that unfortunately it still doesn't fit well. All my concerns with the dress are there - but $130 later. I went to this shop due to its amazing reviews. I told my fiancé about this place too. I brought in my suit a month & 4 weeks ago. I needed the jacket let out, hem, sleeves shortened, the legs tapered. I was told the entire suit would be ready in 2 weeks. Keep in mind I drop it off a month & 4 weeks ago from today. I paid 88.81 on 05/12/21. I came 2 weeks after as I was told to come in. She told me oh it's not ready yet come in another day. Which I thought was weird since I was told to come this exact date. I tried to be understanding and think maybe she's overwhelmed with work. My fiancé was with me when I tried to pick it up. She in that time period brought her wedding dress. She need the straps shortened. Hem & a hook for the train. The manager asked when our wedding was it was for July 24th. But we needed our stuff early to get them to the dry cleaners. She said no problem I'll have it done June 12th. Meaning my fiancé's wedding gown & my suit. I then come in June 12th to pick up both of our items. My fiancé wedding dress isn't ready. The manager looks confused & lost. She couldn't find my suit. The manager responds with oh I'll find it I'm sure it's somewhere. She then says your wedding isn't until July anyways. Again I tried to be understanding. My fiancé pointed out a blue suit that looked similar to mine. The manager looks annoyed & says well come back here and help me find it then. She then says come in June 17th. She tells me to rewrite my name & phone number, that she'd call me back to verify that she found my suit that was lost. She then makes another comment give me until tonight I'll call sometime the following day. I had no voicemail or missed calls from Sy's tailor shop. I was convinced my suit was gone. My fiancé goes on June 17th. My fiancé then asks the manager where my suit was since I was at work unable to pick it up. The manager grabs my fiancé's dress puts it in the dressing room. My fiancé was very annoyed. Who wouldn't be? My fiancé declined to try it on. Still asking about my suit. There were 2 other clients in the building while she asked this. The manager starts talking over my fiancé trying to shush her. Stating you're not the person who originally dropped it off so I'd rather deal with who dropped it off instead of you. My fiancé responded saying from a business standpoint you've been very unprofessional. Then the manager continues to talk over my fiancé say well, you can have him buy another suit I'll take care of it I take care of all my clients. My fiancé then annoyed with the fact she talked over her three times while trying to come to an agreement. My fiancé says, stop talking over me it's rude. Which it is. My fiancé tells her, "first of all its alarming when you take a suit to a tailor and they can't find your suit. You kept telling her three times to come back later. You never contacted her to even say you had the suit. You haven't even apologized for the inconvenience of coming here multiple times when you stated it would be done a month ago." Also my fiancé noticed the manager kept calling me a "he". I'm obviously a women, my pronouns are she/her. My fiancé kept correcting her stating my correct pronouns. My fiancé was suppose to have a second fitting. My fiancé told her I don't even want a second fitting due to you losing an entire suit when our wedding is 5 weeks away. My fiancé then says I'm going to pay you for the work you did on my dress, which was $115. The manager then said well tell him to come and try on a suit that I don't know if it's his. I think it's the suit. Mind you my fiancé told her you need to reimburse her the $88 paid for the alterations, and $300 for the suit if this isn't the suit. She the proceeds to shush my fiancé. I don't get off work until 5:30PM I'm all the way in Bellevue. My fiancé tells her that information. The manager says okay we'll call me & I'll stay later. I get there she's like try this suit on I don't know if it's your suit or not. I'm trying it on in the dressing room. Still didn't a refund. Shes unprofessional wouldn't ever recommend. read more

Sy's tailored my daugther's wedding dress. It needed made two sizes smaller. It had lace and beading all over it. We even had them add straps to the dress. It fit beautifully! I would highly recommend this tailor shop. They are very reasonably priced, also. The bridal shop estimated another $200 from what Sy's charged. read more
