Overpriced! I brought my dress here for formal to get hemmed since my dress was too long. I gave the woman more than a week to do so. She charged me $48 which is ridiculous. I'm from California and have a favorite alteration place by my home. It costs $15 for almost any alteration and sometimes I take pants or dresses in with less than a week's notice, even during busy prom season. She didn't even alter it correctly. It was uneven and still too long in the back. All she did when I came in was put a few safety pins on and I couldn't tell the length it would be. My favorite alteration place at home puts pins all throughout across the front and back so I can see how it'll look when it's done. Don't recommend this place. I wish I had more time to check out other options. read more

My wedding dress was purchased well in advance of my wedding, and I happened to (unintentionally) lose weight in the meantime, so needed it taken in quite a bit. The seamstress understood my predicament and did about three different alterations over the course of a few months leading up to the wedding (but told me to stop losing weight LOL) She did most of the alterations along the button line at the back, so they'd blend in and not show in any photos. There were also alterations done to the bust line to bring it in more (also not noticeable in photos). Totally impressed with the quality of my alteration. Thought the price was reasonable and because I was not in a hurry, I got my items back in a week. (I think they can do alterations much faster than that though). Would give them 5 stars but the shop smells strongly of fish. First time I was there I thought maybe it was the cat (who is in the shop) or someone microwaved fish for lunch. The second time it was even stronger-so much so that I had to open my car windows after picking up my altered garments because they smelled like fish. Had to have them dry cleaned to get the smell out. I'll have to think twice before going back. Really quality work but the smell thing might be a deal breaker. read more

They told me that it was due to the manufacturer as they didn't measure up from the floor when they were pinning..? They corrected it within just a couple of days, and it was perfect! Okay so I'll start by saying they do match their name, if you want a super quick turnaround with alterations, this is your place. I was able to get my blue velvet dress that I wore for my sister's wedding in for alterations with only a 48 hour notice. Certainly my fault for waiting so long, but sometimes things get overlooked. I saw them online and they were able to get me in quickly that same day. When I walked in, the place smelled heavily like cat urine, and I saw cats around. Not a huge deal to me, but not somewhere I wanted to spend a great deal of time. When I picked my dress up and tried it on, I noticed that they only lifted the straps but didn't adjust the bra pads inside, so they were much higher than where I needed the bra to be. Thankfully the dress was dark and it wasn't very noticeable, but it wasn't comfortable. I'll have to take it back to another tailor to fix if I want to wear it again. All in all, I knew that with a fast alteration, I couldn't expect perfection, so I'm not going to be too hard on them for that. The pricing was somewhat reasonable, but ultimately the lesson is you're going to have to manage your expectations if you go to a tailor who specializes in quick alterations. read more

This tailor-seamstress at the beginning of the Benson strip comes off a bit curt, but the job she does for the prices she does it at is worth the slightly strained interactions. I called in a few times to get a quote about a bridesmaid dress I needed altered for a wedding. I think the phone number must be her cell phone because the first time I called she answered it but told me she was at the dentist. I was pretty confused, and hung up. A few hours later she called back and told me she could see me at her shop in 10 mins, but as it was the middle of the work day and I was clear across town 17 miles away I told her I would come in on another day. She asked me to call ahead prior to coming in. On the day I wanted to take my dress in, I called 20 mins before as she has asked, but she told me she only had time to measure me in 40 mins. So I wandered the Benson strip for a while waiting for my verbally made appointment. The appointment was lightning fast- I changed in a dressing room, she applied 6-7 safety pins, and I was back in the dressing room again. I paid my $48 up front and got a receipt that indicated to pick it up in a week. So that was that. It all seemed a bit rushed and confusing but the final product speaks for itself. this was the worst experience I've ever had. I went in to have my wedding dress altered. The seamstress made comments about my weight and the design of my dress. For reference, I am a 5 foot 2, 110 pounds. I have never been told I was big or overweight. The seamstress proceeded to change the design of my dress and would not accept feedback. In the end I had my fiancé pick the wedding dress up because I was crying and too upset to go back and get it. I'm sure this place is great usually but I personally did not have the best experience. First of all I paid $96 to get a dress taken in &get some off the bottom. I needed it within 2 weeks and understood paying more but still thought that was pricy. I was told the 28th it was written as the 28th then I showed up & apparently it wasn't until the next day she meant Wednesday the 29th so I had to come back the next day. She told me to come between 1-4:45 so I got there at 4:20 & it wasn't done! I had to wait 20 min for it to be done then I tried it on & it just looked rushed I mean not bad but just rushed a bit. It made perfect sense and we would have never have thought of the fact that it would just pull open in the front and not work. Amazing work. Ana got my wedding gown altered in 6 days. When a sleeve still didn't fit, she pinned it on the spot and fixed that within 48 hours! She was direct and to the point and gave me great advice. She was honest with me that my gown did not need hemming, which would have double or tripled my bill. Her family was helpful when I came in for fittings. At my final fitting she told me I looked like Snow White in my dress, which would put a smile on any bride's face! My gown did not have overly complex beading but did have a bodice she had to take apart. Very reasonable prices for how fast and how good she is! Will be using her again. read more

NEGATIVE STARS I told them the instructions for the alterations. They told me that they understood. I picked up the item and they did exactly opposite of what I asked. When I brought it up to them that they did it wrong, they told me that they did exactly what I wanted (lengthen the pants) and that they did not cut any fabric. Went back with proof that they screwed up and the young girl switched gears and told me that she did shorten them per my request and that she did cut them. CYA and refused to talk to me further. I bought a beautiful, very expensive dress online that was supposed to be made with my measurements but it was a complete mess! It was super baggy everywhere, there was extra random fabric in places, etc (it was obviously a bad choice). The dress has a couple layers of material because the outer most layer sheer with sequins so very difficult to deal with.
