Great place to buy a bike and all biking needs. We have been to this shop several times now . I bought my bike here when it was snitger's.This shop will be our family bike shop for the long haul. My husband bought his bike here recently and we had a great overall experience. We went into the shop knowing we wanted to complete the GAP. Chuck gave my husband good recommendations on bike choice/ size but was never pushy . The guys here are knowledgeable but also very patient. We also had our two little sons with us which I was worried about at first. My kids were very fascinated with the shop . The 3 year old rode a little tricycle around the shop while my husband looked at bikes and the workers gave him a smile and a hello . The shop felt family friendly. The bikes can be trialed and the beaver area is a great place to trial bikes. I had my bike serviced and I felt confident knowing my bike was in good hands when I left the door. When we came back to pickup my bike, they even gave my kids some bike stickers which I thought was nice . In preparation of our bike trip , we returned again for some extra spokes and supplies and received another great costumer experience from Chris. While they measured our spokes and made them, we ate at one of the many restaurants available walking distance nearby . read more

The new shop here is wonderful! I was a little concerned, I'm 68 & all of my bikes save one have come from here and the service is as good as, or maybe better than, ever. I brought my bike in for 2 things it needed and it was finished very promptly, most of it while I waited & could provide input for the questions they asked about my riding style. They found issues I didn't even know about and fixed them gratis! The people there are knowledgeable, friendly and extremely good at what they do. I just want to say how nice this shop is. They really go out of their way to help their customers find the right fit. I recently bought a new bike rack. The quality of the rack is amazing. I was taking my son's bicycle here to be repaired. First of all I might as well have been invisible while I was standing there to be serviced. Then when the guy finally asked me how can I help you? I explained that my son was just trying to raise his handlebars and the seal broke below the rings so we just need a replacement. I said it's an easy repair. I said also my son wants to know what this bike I called. It doesn't say the make of it on the bicycle. He said can't he read it says it right there!! I said the person we bought it from said it was customized. He said it's not customized! He was very rude. I said well it is any easy fix and he said well there is a 2 week wait for repairs there are 75 people ahead of you!! I have never had a good experience at Snitgers and I will never go back again!! read more

Sells top notch specialty bicycles. Helpful knoledgeable clerks. They help you find exactly what you need and want. They give you a free tune-up of your bike a month after purchace. Wide variety of accesories. Did not give me a free helmet to sweeten the deal however. Very expensive compared to a wal-mart bike, but you get what you pay for. While they have a wealth of knowledge and expertise concerning bicycles, customer service or satisfaction isn't a strong point. The staff was friendly enough, no complaints there. The main issue I have is with the tune-up they gave my full suspension mtn bike. I knew there was a problem with the gears and the brakes needed checked, so I left it to the experts. When I picked it up a week later I was told the derailleur problem was finicky and they didn't want to waste their time or my money on it. I'm sorry, but isn't the point of a tune up to fix everything that prevents the bike from performing? I still don't have a 7th gear and sometimes my 6th will become 7th. Whatever. Then I discovered a new issue. My front brakes did not work. I was able to fix it myself, it was very simple, but it amazes me that something as critical as a brake malfunction was completely missed by the team. Im going to find a new bike store the next time it needs work. read more

Undoubtedly a shop filled with great bikes and accessories. While knowledgable, their customer service and common sense with how to treat people leaves MUCH to be desired. I used to buy bikes there years ago, my family has bought many from them over the years. I went in recently for some service on a bike and they seemed less than thrilled to take care of me. They were smug and didn't give me the impression they wanted my business. After they took my wheels, I was looking at new bikes. Nobody once asked if I had questions or needed help. Too bad for them...I'm in the market for a new bike. I'll gladly drive elsewhere to buy one even though this shop is much more convenient. read more

Do not trust the owners even if they seem like nice people. Get EVERYTHING in writing even if they give you their word. They will say what they need to get your trust and then change their story. I bought a bike from them and they promised me one free tune-up. After a few months, the bike ended up having several things wrong with it (which is fine, siht happens) and so I took it back with a written list of 4 problems. The mechanic and the owner and the sales guy on the phone all assured me that those 4 problems would be covered by my one free tune-up. When I came back to pick it up I saw a service bill on the handlebar and asked the owner's wife "didn't you guys promise me one tuneup?", the owner came out and sent both his mechanic and his wife into the back room and then he screamed at me lied saying he did not offer me a free tune up but that he only said that he would "look at it for free" (100% untrue). I didn't have the copy of paperwork showing one free tune up when I purchased the bike. Obviously, he refused to locate his copy of the contract and withheld the bike from me until I paid him. He also wouldn't let me take it for a test ride for fear that I wouldn't return to pay him, thereby preventing me from checking if it had been fixed. I decided that paying him would be easier than returning another day with the receipt because I wasn't sure he would honor his written word either. I took the bike home and on my first ride it was clear that only 1 of the 4 problems I took it in for had been worked on. I had to take the bike to Trek of Pittsburgh to have the other 3 problems fixed. With so many really cool bike shops in Pittsburgh, my biggest regret is buying my most expensive racing bike from that guy and then having him lie, yell at me and later learn I had been screwed. Snitgers is without a doubt my least favorite business in the entire city. I also posted a negative review on Google and within a few hours after describing my experience another person gave the store a positive review along with a slanderous attack against me. I took my bike in for a tune up. Good service. Friendly people. Everything was done well. Didn't have my front derailer in and couldn't get it in for over a week. Since I was moving before they got it in not everything was working to the best of its ability. However, that's understandable so it's no fault of the place. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone living in the area. read more

Needed an obscure part for a racing bike. They had it. They seemed knowledgeable enough, maybe not friendly, but what do you want from bike shop boys??? Social skills... yeah right! I purchased a bike from Marlin and Company awhile back. Their entire staff is extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I have a few bike shops around me in the Pittsburgh area, but I'll gladly head out to Beaver anytime I need anything. If you need someone to provide you with customer service & they can call you back making you regret you called in the 1st place...this is the place for you. If you enjoy being ridiculed because you purchased your bicycle equipment elsewhere & its apparently not up to their standards...this is the place for you. I was looking for new road bike shoes, the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, they help me with the shoes and set them up according my feet anatomy, once in the bike testing the shoes they fix other issues with my knees related to the shoes witch wasn't part of the shoe fitting they help me out. Bottom line they went above and beyond my expectations, and I very happy with the experience. I will buy again from Snitgers highly recommended. Looking for a road or mountain bike give them a try. read more
