There was no way that we could pass up this dessert restaurant on the way back to our hotel from Greyfriars Kirkyard. I mean, what an exciting evening!
We walked in to a beautifully decorated restaurant with a pink cherry blossom tree welcoming us. There is a private room for parties in the back as well as a few booths and tables. I'm guessing the private room is used for overflow when not in use.
We were greeted by the owner. She sat us at a table for 2 almost immediately. It's all table service unless you're getting a gelato to go. There were many flavors available. We were more interested in the extensive menu of desserts. Everything looked so amazing! They had just about all the popular treats that are currently on fire in social media. It was between the Matilda Cake and the Baklava. We just couldn't pass up the signature Treatz Baklava. It included a choice of a Belgian chocolate or pistachio sauce shot with a scoop of ice cream. Ohhh, heck yeah! We were in heaven. Seriously! It was presented so beautifully even though the ice cream was melting. The baklava was absolutely delicious, and so moist. Yes, it was served warm with a delicious pistachio filling. I loved it!! The pistachio sauce was such a nice treat that paired perfectly with it. It's meant to either pour on top of the dessert or ice cream, or you can just drink it. I did the latter. Yum, yuumm! My husband made me try his Belgian chocolate shot. Haha... he didn't need to twist my arm to persuade me. He loved the quality of the chocolate. He was so right. Delish! We wanted to go back a second time, but time ran out on us.
Treat yourself to one of these desserts when visiting Edinburgh. My only regret is not going back for that Matilda Cake. The price may be higher than other places, but the quality is unmatched. I also didn't think the wait was too long considering all the work that goes into preparing them. It was an amazing experience for both of us. I'd be there more often if we lived in the area. Hopefully we will one day see them again the future. read more
