Here we are exactly 10 years later, we recently stayed overnight for our 29th year Wedding Anniversary at the Heceta Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast and it was an unforgettable experience! Weekend reservations usually have a two-night minimum requirement but was exempt on August 8th given that there was a Bridal Party staying for the entire weekend! We stayed in the Cape Cove Room, which is definitely on the cozier, smaller side, but beautifully appointed with historic charm, antique furniture, and a great view of the Cape Creek Bridge. It does feature a shared bathroom (standing tub only) but was an experience nonetheless! The hospitality was lovely. We did miss the "Wine & Cheese" social on the day of our arrival given that we visited friends in Brookings and took our time driving up the coast. Note to self: Make sure to arrive just in time for check- in so that you do not miss social afternoon which we heard from other guests was a wonderful way to learn about the history of the lightkeeper's cottage. We arrived just past 10pm, the parking was a bit tight for our truck (Tacoma) but the absolute highlight of the evening was taking a flashlight and walking up the path to sit right under the working lighthouse at night--watching the beams sweep across the dark ocean is something we will never forget (between 10:30p - 11:30p); Make sure to bring your own water, dinner or snacks since the inn is isolated, but they do have a great guest kitchen you can use. Unbeknownst to us, we were delighted with a 4-course breakfast the next morning. Every dish was uniquely prepared, family-style, using fresh herbs from their own garden. If you are looking for a unique, peaceful, and historic coastal getaway, we highly recommend booking a stay here!

It is a beautiful place to stay! Appearance - We stayed in the Queen Anne room, which we were told is the most romantic! Our bedroom did not have a bathroom, due to how old the place is. We did know this going in, but it was still worth it because the bathtub was wonderful and we were the only ones using it that night. Taste - The 7 course breakfast was everything you would hope and dream a 7 course breakfast would be and BETTER!! We've always used McKinley's Marina in Alsea Bay for our crabbing boats and crab pots. The staff is professional, helpful and could not be nicer!!!! When we arrive at our scheduled time, they are ready to kit us out with lifejackets, crabbing boats & crab pots. The boats are fitted with a pulley to help haul in the pots full of Dungeness crab! You need to bring the bait with you (we use raw chicken quarters.) Each boat has room for up to 4 adults (and a couple of kiddos if necessary). We head out just before high tide. It's so much fun! When we get back to the dock, the staff check our crab to make sure we have legal size males (only) and they prep it and steam it right there at the docks. They even have picnic tables for us to feast on our fresh catch. Yes, this park does have a few full -time RV sites, which is not an issue. We've always booked a waterfront, back in site for our stays. The view of Alsea Bay is worth it and we can watch the tides go in and out, as well as watching crabbers coming in with their haul. (They offer boat and equipment rentals for crabbing.) There is a large field on the east side of the property for dry camping and waterfront tent camping. There you'll find a beach volleyball court, a tetherball and a basketball hoop as well. I love the abundance of birds and wildlife in this area. There is a fabulous little Bakery within walking distance of this park; "Pacific Sourdough," positively worth visiting. Great location - within walking distance to the beach, downtown and the bridge.
