Where do I begin! We were referred to Lara at TravelTek through a friend of ours. We decided on a last minute honeymoon trip in June, and by last minute, I mean only a week notice. We saw Lara on a Monday and told her our desire to leave within the week. Lara spent hours with us putting together different packages, because we were unsure what we wanted to do for our honeymoon. My wife and I finally expressed to her our desire to go to the Maldives, but didn't think it was possible due to the short notice. We gave Lara our budget and she told us to give her until the end of the day. She called my wife before 5pm that same day and told her "The Maldives are calling." Not only did she plan our dream vacation to the Maldives, but she was able to get the Crystal package with the Constance Moo Fushi (Five Star Resort), but she was also able to include a few days in Dubai at The Viceroy Jumeriah - all of it was also within our budget!! Did I also mention that she setup the entire trip within a few hours and we were set to leave in less than a week! We were already amazed by her service to say the least. She had the itinerary and all the paper work setup for us a few days before our departure, which made everything organized and so smooth to deal with while we were out of the country. The icing on the cake was that we loved Dubai so much that we decided to extend our trip. We called Lara from Dubai and she was able to arrange all of that for us with the hotel. This is my first review ever, anywhere. But after the 3rd degree unprofessional, rude and hostile attitude I received from Maro who is the owner, I had no choice but to write about it. 22 years ago I went to Jamaica for my honeymoon and Maro helped me plan it. 3 years ago her sister Lara helped me plan and go to vacation in France. Their prices are not exactly a bargain, but I've known them and didn't mind paying more. Last year I wanted to plan a trip to Cancun with Maro, but things didn't go according to plan and I just didn't go. The problem is when you call them, they corner you with "this incredible deal is gonna expire" and push you to make a commitment right away (like a car salesman) which I don't appreciate. The Cancun trip didn't happen, but Maro kept pestering me with calls and emails trying to get me to go. She should know that the nature of their business is such that not every single phone call is gonna result in a successful trip. After Jamaica and France, I deserved a pass for one time, or so I thought. Now March of 2022, 8 months later, I'm planning a trip to Japan and I called Maro again. First words out of her mouth when she answered the phone are "Well, hello Mr. Albert, we spent a lot of time planning your Cancun vacation and you didn't go. NOW WHAT CAN I HELP YOU WITH?" She went on and on, but the gist of it was she was pissed because she wasted a lot of time on me and it didn't lead anywhere. I was so taken aback. For a business that is supposed to be all about customer service and expected to have a lot of rejections from people who change their minds, this level of rudeness was completely uncalled for. My response was "Wow that was so harsh". Maro proceeded to remind me once again (in not so nice words and tone) about how much time and effort she put in planning. (Although to be honest most of that "effort" was her trying her hardest to get me to commit). I said "I sincerely apologize since I got you this upset" (half surprised and half sarcastic at this point). She didn't say anything, but through her heavy breathing I could tell she was still fuming. I said you have a good day, she said you too and we hung up. They're an ok travel agency, but their prices are steep. For example Lara arranged an airport pickup in Paris for a party of 5. It was a private minivan just for us and the whole trip was 30 minutes. The price I paid was far more than what I could have gotten somewhere else. And that's just one thing. Do some shopping around and you'll see that the prices they're quoting for airfare, hotels and excursions are more than the average price. At the end of the day, they're expensive and pushy. If you are going to commit FOR SURE and don't mind paying more, then go ahead and call them. If you want a good deal or there's a chance you may change your mind, then stay away. They're pushy all along the way, and if you happen to change your mind, be prepared for Maro to unleash all hell on you!!! One more thing... all those "5 star reviews" you see are people who were pressured into doing it (if it's legit at all, who knows?). I can't tell you how many times I was told by Lara to make sure I go to Yelp and leave a 5 star review. They expect you to do it before you even finalize your trip. And you want to be on their good side and just do it. It's not really my thing and I never did it, but others did obviously. My point is, those raving reviews don't come naturally when people do it because they had such an amazing experience, but more like their arms were twisted. read more
