The service was not bad, but the food did take a little longer than it should have for basic Italian. Tue place was about 30% occupied and it was very loud. Not because of loud unruly people, but because of the acoustic design of the interior. Basic is the functional word when describing the food. Very very bland with small portions for the price. Had to add a lot of salt and pepper to enhance the flavor, and we are not the "add salt and pepper" people. Places to eat in this area are limited, but this is definitely a "one and done". The place looked nice. We had the waitress surprise us with two appetizers and gave us a Pizza Abruzze and A Side of Meatballs which were both very good. The entrées on the other hand were rough. I got the Gemelli con Salsiccia e Funghi Aglio e Olio ** that they recommended and it was possibly the saltiest dish I had ever had. Two people from our group got the lasagna and said it had too much wine in it. Another got the Rigatoni all Vodka that had only 2 pieces of shrimp and needed salt. My husband got the Veal Penne Pomodoro Parmigiana and (I won't say how he described it) didn't like it. We did like the Italian Cream Cake. It was painful waiting on our waitress and she also didn't give any of us our change after we paid. If I go back, I would not get any of those entrees again. read more

The first time I've come here for an actual meal (rather than just a seat at the bar with maybe a snack) and I enjoyed it! We came for a birthday dinner. I had the very simple rigatoni bolognese. Pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente and the sauce was really good. It was a little on the sweet side for me, but tasted pretty fresh! They also brought us out an "on the house" mushroom appetizer that was delicious. If you like mushrooms, get it! I also sampled the lobster ravioli (on special) and enjoyed it. I am not a huge lobster anything fan, but even I thought it was pretty good! I also had a glass of the house red wine blend they have and that was one of the best house wines I've had in a long time! Super smooth. Teeniest bit sweet. No aftertaste at all. The service was wonderful. Our waitress was attentive and very knowledgeable and just generally great. I had only sat in the bar area previously and thought it could get a little loud but I felt less so about the restaurant itself. The tables are nicely spaced from each other so you have your privacy. My only complaint (and not really a complaint a just a warning so no one is surprised if it comes up... ) is that they charge a $30 cake fee if you bring your own cake. It's just a little bit of a bummer, but I totally understand why. They were super polite about it when I called. Anyhow... food and service was great. Would go again! read more

We went here for Valentine's Day! Aside from being BEAUTIFUL inside, the food is definitely top tier! The fact that they have FRESH handmade pasta easily makes this one of the best italian restaurants in Jax/St. John's! The hostess and server were both so sweet and really made the night feel special. We decided to go here for our anniversary dinner. We usually are out of town so I chose to come here since it's been on my radar. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The ambiance here did not give anniversary dinner. We had to sit next to the window so the view is the shopping plaza. The food was pretty good, but the pistachio martini was the star of the night. We really enjoyed our visit. The ambiance was great and the restaurant was very clean. Our server, one of the owners' children, was so friendly and made the experience feel welcoming. The bread wasn't my personal favorite since I usually prefer warm bread with oil and vinegar, and this was served room‑temperature with butter. My entrée (Chicken Alla Toscana - pictured) was delicious, though I did add a little salt and crushed red pepper to suit my taste. We visited Trattoria a few days after they just opened. Inside was massive! Lots of tables and private area. I like the interior designs too! However, I was a bit disappointed, there was no complementary bread, portions were small, slow service, etc. But it did not deter me to come back and try them again as I know those things are part of opening a new restaurant and they probably got feedbacks from other customers as well, because a lot has changed when we had dinner here last Friday! We were greeted warmly and seated right away. It was still happy hour so I ordered an espresso martini, it was good! I like the contrast of the strong coffee and the creaminess of the drink. And yes, they now serve complementary bread made fresh in-house! I loved it! It's like a baguette but more dense on the inside. Sadly, my husband can do without it lol, but more for me! For this visit, I ordered the Bolognese, I substituted the rigatoni to tagliatelle pasta for an extra $2, and it was tasty! My husband got the Spaghetti Pomodoro with an additional meatballs. I liked it even better than my order, although they served it with a thinner spaghetti, it seems like an angel hair pasta. Nevertheless, we both prefer the pomodoro sauce, it was delicious! Honestly I'm super disappointed to make this review because the food wasn't bad. Both my partner and I's pasta dishes were great. However the service was not great. It took over 45 minutes to get checked out once we finished eating. Our server was not attentive and didn't check on us to see if we needed refills. It was filled with chunks of chicken and enough pasta as an accent. It was delicious and the dressing you can tell was home made. My spouse had the bolognese with pasta and did not leave a morsel on his plate. Trattoria Di Bernardone is a well kept secret. I believe from the exterior one would think it's a fancy expensive restaurants when actually it's reasonable in price. It is broken up in sections where you can enjoy and dress up fancy, enjoy a small booth from quiet dining or sit at the bar which also has high top tables and enjoy Italian cuisine while watching big screen TV's. Laura (the woman in charge!) did us the honor of coming over to our table and chatting with us! The ingredients are amazing. They source their flour from Italy! It's the real deal! It's used in everything from their pasta to their bread and the crust of the pizza ! Fresh bread is brought to the table with a herby butter. I asked for a side of the blue cheese vinaigrette to dip in as well... tehe. I'm also the biggest fan of the pizza!!! Perfect combination of sweet and savory cheesy. You may like the atmosphere at Poppys, but this restaurant is far more beautiful! This family owned Italian restaurant is absolutely beautiful and has two patios to sit outside and dine al fresco! Thats is what we did on this beautiful day! Food is excellent and has the most beautiful huge bar inside. I love that it's located right next-door to the movie theater so you can do dinner before or after. Parking is easy with ample space. They have two patios both of which you can dine outside on that are nice. My salad was soo good. We almost ordered another one, and both entrées were delicious. We topped them off with a glass of wine and an Aperol spritz. Weight staff was professional and friendly, and might just happen to be one of the family that owns the restaurant. That's always a nice! Family owned restaurant. Our friends had been there a few times it was my first. The staff were great and the drinks and food were amazing. Being Italian and cook myself I was impressed and will definitely be going back there soon!! Th e Pistachio Martini was unique and delicious Calamari "steak" appetizer was so delicious, I had a special Gorgonzola Gnocchi with Asparagus absolutely amazing, my friend had the Fusili Campagnola which was my other choice, I tried hers that's what I'm getting next time. My dad had the Chicken Parmigiana and our other friend had one of their Seafood Pasta specials I think but everything was amazing even the bread and the marinara sauce they start with. This place is a hidden gem! I grew up north where Italian restaurants are everywhere, and this reminds me of home. The atmosphere is also very much like northern Italian restaurants. I had a lovely chat with the owner and learned that they import flour from Italy to make their pasta and pizza as authentic as possible. The bartenders and servers are so kind and make sure to take care of all the customers. The food and drinks are phenomenal (I highly recommend the espresso martini). Their cannolis are also AMAZING! I am sooo glad Trattoria Di Bernardone opened up, I will never be able to pronounce it or spell it but the food is very good! This restaurant has maybe been open a month and we have been 3 times already, we were also out of town for two weeks. In fact we like it so much we went the first and second night they were open! Each time we have been it has gotten better and better. I found something I loved the first visit and I have stuck with it. I ordered the Housemade Gnocchi and the Purple Pompeii to drink. I really like both, the Gnocchi is so cheesy and has a great texture. I like to add sausage for a protein which is delicious and made without a casing or at least a light casing which I love! The Purple Pompeii is not for everyone but I really like it, it has tasted slightly different every time and it comes in a different glass every time. I will say the staff is so friendly and helpful and you can tell they are quickly trying to figure out their rhythm. Now I don't want to miss lead anyone, is this the best Italian food I have ever had... no but it is definitely worth checking out. I think most people will like it and find something they enjoy on their big menu. read more

Great new! Trattoria Di Bernardone is now opened... Well it's a soft open but still open none the less. Someone in our neighborhood community page posted they were opened and since we hadn't eaten dinner yet we drove on over hoping it wasn't going to be packed and lucky for us it wasn't. We were quickly seated by our server and taken through the restaurant. I will say it's nicer and much bigger then I had expected. We started off with drinks. I of course had the Italian Old Fashioned and Ashley had the Purple Pompeii. The Old Fashioned was good but Ashley couldn't stop raving about her Purple Pompeii. We also order and appetizer of course and went with the Crab & Artichoke Crostini which is "Molto Delizioso" Creamy and Spicy Dip over Their Baked Pugliese. I was not what I expected though I'm not really sure what I was expecting but it was very good. For my entrée I ordered the Taglietelle Carbonara. I haven't had good or authentic Carbonara in Jax in awhile so I was hoping this was going to be the place, and it was. The Taglietelle Carbonara looked and tasted amazing. Fresh housemade pasta prepared w/ Guanciale, Fresh Garlic, & Finished with Egg & Fresh Parsley. So good and for sure top 2 Carbonara in Jax. I also add some of their Sausage which was also very good. I will say I was caught off guard by the look of it at first since it had been split down the middle but it as delicious. Ashley ordered the Housemade Gnocchi w/ Baby Asparagus in a Gorgonzola Cream Sauce that she also very much enjoyed. I was even lucky enough to get a few bites and it was also great. Now what do you know the next day we found ourselves back for an early dinner. Guess that says enough when you go 2 days in a row. This time I got the Manhattan. I was good but I am for sure an Old Fashioned person. I don't know what it is but I just don't like Vermouth with bourbon. For our started this time we went with the Pizza Abruzze which is Prosciutto, Fig Sauce, Gorgonzola, Basil, Mozzarella & Scallions. This Pizza was great and I don't even like Figs. Will for sure be getting this again. This time for my entrée I went with the Cheese Ravioli Bolognese. This was good but not as good as either of the entrees from the night before but that's saying a lot. The Meat Ragu though really made this dish for me. Again so happy Trattoria has finally opened after want has seemed like a life time. For sure the best new Italian Restaurant is the area. We had a reservation for 8:00 on 1/23/26. We had 3 adults and a handicapped child that has been in a wheel chair since birth. When we got there, we were shown to a table that had probably 10 people including 4 screaming kids. We requested another table. We were told there were none but we could go to the bar. As we were walking to the bar, there were 2 empty 6 seat tables empty. When I asked if we could sit there, we were told no. I then asked to speak with the manager and sat at a table in the bar. After 7 minutes, a waiter came over and I again asked to speak with the manager. I explained the situation to the waiter and he walked with me and asked me where I would like to sit. We went to the tables for 6 that were empty and I advised him that would be great. When our party moved the table, I again asked to speak with the manager. She finally came over. 01). She did not even give me a second to tell her why I wanted to see her. 02). She told me that I had yelled at her staff (Family), and that I could not speak with her staff that way. FYI, not once did I raise my voice. 03). She told me that she had gone into the bar and asked her "regulars" about my behavior and supposedly they told her that I was not nice. Amazing how she had the time to go ask her regulars as opposed to coming to me and asking me why I wanted to see her. 04). I asked her to come over to my side of the table as I could not hear her. When she did, she continued to tell me that I was aggressive. I then held up my index finger and asked her if I could talk. She told me that holding my finger up was aggressive. 05). She then told me that even my eyes were aggressive. Sorry, they are the only eyes I have. 06). She then told me that I should leave the restaurant and I asked her if she was kicking me out, and was told no she wasn't. 07). I finally was able to partially tell her what had happened and she came up with the most ridiculous responses. 08). It was now close to 9:00 and they close at 10:00. She told me that all I needed to do was request one of those tables and when I told her we did, she was surprised but decided to defend her family anyway. She told me that they needed to keep these tables open for walk-ins. Now, let me repeat, it was now 9:00 and anybody that would walk into a restaurant with 6 people or more, I would think would have made a reservation. So that response was just a knee jerk reaction to protecting her family. PLUS, I had made reservations and I did have a handicapped child in a wheel chair. Bottom Line: We ended up eating there. The waitress could not have been nicer. I paid the bill and gave her cash for her tip (20%). None of this had to happen. Instead of de-escalating by just asking me what I wanted to see her about, she attacked. This was my second time there. The first time, I met the family and the new baby and it was very nice. I wanted to go back. Obviously, I would never go back there. And when I left, I waved to the manager and politely asked her to apologize to anyone I offended. No idea why I did that, but thought I would be the more mature person. I am sending a copy of this to the AAPD to see if seating a handicapped person in a bar when many other seats were available is a violation or just an ethical problem. By the way, if the owner feels that any of the above is incorrect, I encourage a response and pointing out any errors made. I don't expect to hear back from anyone, but a simple "sorry for the problem" would by classy. read more

The kids cheese pizza was good though. We had the meatball appetizer and it was very flavorful. We did, however, ask for extra marinara sauce. This was our first time visiting this restaurant, and we decided to have dinner here before seeing a movie next door. The atmosphere is very unique, with arched walls separating the different dining areas. We started with the garlic bread, which was a big portion, but not the most garlicky bread I have had. For entrees we had the veal marsala and the lasagna. Both dishes were big portions and very tasty. Our server Casey was very attentive and efficient.
