My wife and I ordered dinner to-go from here a couple of weeks back. I ordered the chicken parmesan that came with one chicken breast and a whole lot of pasta. Chosen the soup of the day which was lemon something. Tasted like sour congee. They gave us a TON of toasted bread. Overall the food was okay. Olive Garden is definitely a huge step up from this place with a better value. Not sure if the experience would have been better if we dined in.

We love this 'hole in the wall'! Pizza is great. Tried the chicken marsala tonight and it was okay. The people are so nice. We will be back.

The reviews for Pizza Italiano are quite scattered, ranging from "You won't be disappointed" to "The worst pizza I've ever had." Curiosity got the best of me, which it often does, along with a craving for some home-cooked Italian fare, so I decided to pay a visit one evening and see for myself. From the outside, the building is very dated and nondescript. It's seen better days....as in the 80s-90s, and the inside is very much the same. Definitely not "impress my Tinder date" material. You know those fine Italian restaurants that are the quintessential settings for marriage proposals? Yeah, well here it's more like "divorce papers." It's dim, but not for ambience, I think that's what the standing Renuzit air freshener cone underneath the TV is for. Keeping it classy, Yeeps. The dining area isn't expansive by any means, but rather quaint, though there was one larger table to the right of the entrance that was occupied by a group of local cops. I started with an order of cheese bread, and literally....it was just that. Square slices of what I hope was melted mozzarella on small slivers of bread. No butter, no herbs,...no joke. What saved it was the scrumptious marinara sauce that's served on the side for dipping. Now, the sauce here is legit, I will say that. Knowing this, I eagerly placed my order for Chicken Parm, my favorite Italian dish. It comes with a side salad...pretty unremarkable...heavy on the iceburg and bottled ranch, and fresh baked garlic bread, which needed a touch more garlic. Promptly after, the main course was served, and I must profess....the portions are HUGE. The chicken took up an entire plate, and the spaghetti was piled atop another. Both were smothered in the delicious marinara, and I greedily ate my way to food baby status. The leftovers proved useful during "Redbox movie night" later in the evening. If atmosphere and appearance isn't a big issue, and it's all about the food for you, then yes, I recommend this establishment. I can't comment about the pizza since I didn't order it, so to each his own on that. The service was on point, the kind lady seemed to be one of the owners and had a charming disposition. If you're in the neighborhood, give Pizza Italiano a try! Till next time, SUPPORT your local eats and businesses, and as always...SYOY!

Food was all over the bag. I was unable to even eat it. It was my first and likely last time getting food from here. I was very disappointed.

We ate here many years ago, when it was run by the previous owners. It was good but not enough to wow us to come back. A friend of ours encouraged us to give this place a go again, saying the "new' owners (of a few years now) really do a fantastic job. He wasn't kidding. The building on Normandy is older and unassuming and you'd never know the treasure inside. It's very casual inside, a mix of Greek and Italian tchotchkes. In fact, the menu is also a mix of Italian and Greek fare, something I've only seen here in NE Florida. It's small and cozy, with a tiny kitchen. Food is prepared when ordered, so this is not a fast food place. It was slow when we got there, with a brisk take out service, but filled up fast as the evening went on. Most of the patrons appeared to be neighborhood regulars. My husband ordered an appetizer because he was starving - the pepperoni cheese bread with sauce. We had a good laugh when it came out, see the picture to understand why. It was not what we expected - sliced bread with a pepperoni and a bit of cheese on each piece. The joke was on us though, because it was good Italian bread, spicy pepperoni, nice cheese and WOWZA some of the best marinara sauce I've ever had in my life. Our dinner came with salad, a standard one with a choice of dressing - many house-made. I chose blue cheese and my husband chose Italian. Both were delicious and definitely did not come out of a bottle. Dinner arrived, the piping hot crocks carried in on plastic plates, thankfully. My husband ordered the ziti with sausage. Absolutely delicious, good quality meat, pasta perfectly cooked, more of that fabulous marinara sauce and lots of melted cheese. I ordered the stuffed shells which did not come with meat, but there was a choice to add either a meatball, sausage or mushrooms for an additional dollar. I chose the meatball. I'm very glad I did. It came baked in with my three stuffed shells and while a very good size, was light and tasty. My shells were stuffed very generously with a delicious ricotta mixture. We stretched our necks a lot and saw food on other tables, all looked really good. The very customizable pizza appeared to be a popular thing to order, as was the lasagna. The prices are insanely good, I posted pictures of the menu so check it out. This place is definitely going on our repeat list for good, homemade style Italian food. No reason at all to hit the name brand chains when we can get better quality for better prices here at a mom and pop place!

Pizza Italiano has been a place that I have been wanting to try....so we finally went, after reading so many good reviews. We get there during a monsoon, so we run in drenched ready to eat comfort food. Apparently they have been here forever and are a local favorite. Cute small place with friendly service and several tables and chairs. We were seated as soon as we got there, and started with drinks. We both ordered entrees: Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Marsala which comes with garlic bread, side salad, and side of pasta. Out comes the garlic bread....it's a win! The bread was crunchy, loaded with butter and garlic....dream bread! Next comes our salads....and again, it's a win! Salad was minimal but delish. Now here comes the comfort food. My chicken Parm was a sight for sore eyes, as the portions are so big. My pasta and chicken were perfect! (I had leftovers) The other dish...not so good. The chicken marsala came out and it was smothered in grey sauce, canned mushrooms, and pieces of chicken that looked undercooked. He took a few bites....and that was that. He even stated that the noodles were a little off...but we would definitely not be ordering that again. We both are interested in trying their pizza...but will wait a little bit for the bad taste in his head/mouth to go away!

I knew yesterday as soon as I saw the advertisement for the new specials I had to get Layla's Chicken Cutlet Sandwich. My daughter couldn't decide on a calzone or the Mac Attack Pizza and after some deliberation, she landed on the Mac Attack Pizza. We got there just after opening and they already had a few customers in the door, but we didn't have to wait long at all. Our food was ready within 15 minutes and brought out. The chicken cutlet sandwich was everything I had hoped it would be. Tangy, savory, and the cutlets were the perfect thickness. Full of great flavor and fresh mozzarella made this the perfect lunch today. The bread wasn't too soft, nor was it too hard. Baked PERFECT. I would eat this every single day if could. Amara loved her pizza and is excited to have some left over for later when she's playing her video games. I like mac n cheese, but generally I'm not a mac and cheese on pizza kind of gal, so I did not try any as of yet. Maybe she'll let me have a slice later? I was too stuffed from the sandwich for anything else. 10 out of 10 recommend and hubby is a little jealous we went without him.

The entrance felt unclean--glass doors, floor, and mats were all gross--and seeing rodent traps by the front door during the day was a major turnoff. It gave the impression that cleanliness has been overlooked. We enjoy the food, but until this improves, we won't be back.

She was patient and very helpful as well. I ordered a bacon and mushroom pizza. My go to pizza. The places is simple: ovens, slice station, and the prep counter. Exactly what's needed for a pizza place. The mural on the wall listed the 5 boroughs and had the Brooklyn Bridge, as well as the Statue of Liberty. I mean, New York is there. The pizza came out fast and I got back. Here's the thing: Florida is notorious for having lackluster pizza. There's no ways around it. The pizza was cooked perfectly, thin, and a thicker crust. Perfect for folding. The sauce: not too loose and not too thin. Good amount for pizza, regardless of location. Flavor wise, not bad. Cheese and toppings had the right amount so it could incorporate into every bite. Now going back to my statement on Florida pizza. It's better than other Floridian pizzas I've had. It scratched the itch and I definitely enjoyed it. They'll get my business when I come back to Jacksonville!

My wife didn't like that there was so little pineapple in it. Our Napoleon pastry was pretty good, and I might get it again ($5 for a small one). We both preferred it to the brownie ($4). I don't particularly like brownies, but this one looked particularly appetizing, and the order-taker said it was one of her favorites, so we tried it. That was a mistake. Perhaps I should have tried the mini cream puffs, which are a favorite of mine (3 for $5), instead. Among other things I usually like, they had carrot cake for $7 and a cup of cheesecake for $9 (which seems steep). Their fruit shaped pastries looked beautiful (and a couple next to us said they loved the mango one), but were $12 each. Their fruit-topped Danishes also looked delicious, but weren't available any more at lunch time. They also offer milk shakes and loaded (sweet) croissants. There are only four stools here next to a bar, if you want to eat in. The bathroom was pretty good. I probably wouldn't come here again, but if I were in the area I might try some of their other pastries or sweet treats.

Julia at the counter must be used to first-timers She was so helpful and didn't seem put-out by all the questions. So many choices. See photos which are self-explanatory. While the fruit options are what they're known for, I thought them pricey, but ok for the optics, and a good flavor. All are made of the same stuff with the contents fruit-appropriate. I couldn't decide on just one, but with my only requirement being "not too sweet", I took the advice of a regular customer and got the lemon which was not too tart or sour and just creamy enough as to be likened to a creamsicle and also the recommendation by Julia who only asked: do you like coffee? To which I replied only with cream and sugar and I got that luscious lovely sl oblong confection. $24 for two pieces of delectable gorgeousness? I wouldn't do this often but it was a very satisfying bit of indulgence. Btw, they can't give you a cup of water, but you can buy a bottle of it. Or sit out back next to the pond with your own water bottle from the car.
