1-Star Review for Transmissions Unlimited Title: Nightmare Experience - Avoid at All Costs! I brought my 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 to Transmissions Unlimited for a shifting issue, and what followed was months of frustration, poor service, and unresolved problems. After dropping it off, scheduler James Quick called a few days later saying the clutches were shot and needed a full rebuild, plus replacing the transmission cooler lines which he claimed were leaking--despite no evidence of a leak before I brought it in. I agreed since the transmission was coming out anyway. Two weeks later, I picked it up after paying a hefty bill (around $7,500 for the work), only to find the shifting problem was exactly the same, and now it was leaking from the new lines they installed. I took it back, and they diagnosed it as bad batteries and alternator, quoting me $1,200 to fix. This didn't add up since the issue was identical to before. I consulted other shops, who suggested a governor solenoid problem. I replaced the batteries and alternator myself--no change, and the leak persisted. Called again, spoke to Gabe, who said bring it in for a quick fix. But dealing with James was a nightmare--he was rude, annoyed, and hostile every time I tried to schedule or get updates. They had my truck for days without touching it, even though racks were empty when I dropped off. One time, they put it on the rack, then immediately parked it outside to work on someone else's vehicle. After weeks of delays and more hostility (no ETAs, excuses about being busy), they finally called saying it was done: blamed my Edge tuner (which they removed without asking) and replaced the governor solenoid. Happy to get it back, but the leak was still there. Called yet again--more rudeness from James. Scheduled with Gabe, dropped off, got warned about a shop dog that "will rip your nuts off." They looked at it for 15 minutes, said they couldn't fix the leak (which they caused), and asked me to return Friday at 8 AM sharp. I showed up early, only to be told they might not get to it, making me feel like a burden. Eventually they did, but the unprofessionalism from the front desk guy was off the charts. This dragged on for over two months with repeated visits, the same issues persisting, and zero accountability. I don't even think they properly diagnosed the original problem. If I could give this place negative stars I WOULD! STAY AWAY!! This place is a scam and does not honor their work. Not to mention is incredibly unprofessional. I write this beyond disgusted on behalf of my elderly veteran father who was left multiple times stranded on the side of the road after spending $6,600 on a new transmission that he had to take back 3 times, then less then 2,000 miles into this "new transmission" he broke down again out of state. When he called to speak to the owner and mechanic Gabe the very rude man who answered the phone responded to my father with "well what do you want me to do about it" when my father told him he was broke down on the highway. Then this same man told my dad if he wanted a copy of his receipt "get a lawyer" after Gabe refused to honor his warranty and left him stranded in another state. I strongly advise you to take your time and money elsewhere. This shop should be SHUT DOWN! read more

This place is a huge joke, just like kresky auto repair. I called Kresky auto first and they tell me it will cost 950.00 to replace two rear lower control arms on a 1998 rav4?!!! Les Schwab and ok tire and all the other mechanics I called said it is only 160.00 for labor. Transmissions unlimited told me 1050.00 for the same job. LMAO!!!!! I had the parts and it would only cost 160 anywhere else in town. I asked them why it was so much on the phone and told them what the other places quoted me and they said they were wrong!! Well it was only 160.00 labor so they are wrong and huge liars!!! I would never take my vehicles to either place they are a huge rip off!! read more

It is hard to find a shop that is honest and fair. Then when you add on clean and quick, it makes it all worthwhile. I have been returning all my vehicles to Gabriel at Transmissions Unlimited for a few years now for all our simple standard service items and some significant jobs, including complete engine replacement. In times like these, when buying new is out of the question, having the team at Transmissions Unlimited helping keep our older vehicles on the road is super important. I was having a problem with hard shifting in my Silverado and had been told by another shop that I needed a new transmission at a cost of approximately $5000. Being retired a repair bill that high is hard to pay so I just parked the truck and didn't drive it. Eventually I decided to get a second opinion and took the Truck to Transmissions Unlimited and Gabriel told me that the transmission just needed a flush and after they completed it my truck was shifting fine again. Gabriel also said that it might need another part replaced but his tests were inconclusive and he didn't want to put the other part in unless he was sure since it would cost another $500. It is so difficult to find a truly honest and reputable repair shop and after taking my truck into Transmissions Unlimited and working with Gabriel to get my truck repaired I am very happy to have finally found a repair shop I can trust and have confidence that my vehicles will be diagnosed and repaired correctly. I very rarely give a 5 star review but that is what I give to this repair shop. read more

Our daily driver had been hard shifting and slipping. So I checked for openings to get a diagnostic and made an appointment Friday for the following Monday. I Dropped it off first thing in the morning. After all day I called around 3:45ish to follow up. I was told they we're working on estimates and would call me back. At 4:45(they close at 5:00) I got a call back explaining that they heard the hard shifting and slipping, and would need to do a fluid flush. After I tried pushing for more information on what it possibly could be, or what the diagnostic had found they had no answers. Also frustrating they had it all day. Why couldn't I be told sooner it needed to be flushed? That was the point of dropping it off early. This is our daily driver reminder, hence why I made an appointment. To have it all day and to get it checked and possibly fixed, or narrow it down. Or at the very least an answer and parts on the way. I ended up having to pay 130 bucks for them to tell me exactly what I already knew. Picked it up, took it to somewhere else the next day and had an answer within 3 hours, and I didn't have an appointment with the next place. Crappy communication, crappy customer service, if I could give zero stars I absolutely would read more

Barry helped us with our 2000 Subaru outback. He diagnosed a broken CV axle, fixed it and then caught a fluid leak coming from the transmission pan. He always checked in with me before performing any work on the vehicle and gave me a straight description of the diagnosis and the steps they would take to solve the problem! These guys do GREAT work and I would recommend them to ANYONE! BTW, it was just a bad gasket on the transmission pan, serviced the thing, replaced filters and re-sealed the pan properly...no more leaks! read more

Was so impressed by how great the customer service was!! I talked to Barry a few times on the phone and he was always nice and courteous. We were able to get our transmission serviced a couple days after I called to make the appt. I would def go back here again!!! read more

I gave 1 star because I wasn't able to give less. Do yourself and car a favor, go anywhere else.

If you want your vehicle back in a timely matter I suggest finding a different place. When estimated time is 5 business days and it ends up taking 15 business days, that is not acceptable. I believe customers (specially when paying almost $3000) should be contacted if the vehicle won't be finished when first discussed, instead of the customer having to keep calling to check the status.
