They increased the charge of my diagnosis twice and didnt mention the increase until after the fact. I just wanted my vehicle out of there and during the check out process i was almost overcharged $150 after disputing it. It was a mistake on their part but those mistakes occured throughout my entire experience. They also have an AI bot who takes calls and its very frustrating. They are also extremely over priced. As soon as i got my vehicle back i called other shops and they were a 1/3 of the price cheaper than what was quoted. Please spend your time and money elsewhere.

After diagnostics, we were told the noise was from the CV axles (and that brakes were also needed). We agreed to replace only the axles, quoted at $1,600+, and were told the car would be ready Monday or early Tuesday. From there, communication completely broke down. We received no proactive updates. Multiple calls were routed through an AI system with no callbacks. When I finally reached a person, I was told the staff member handling our car had been out sick and that parts were delayed due to a storm. Totally understandable -- but no one called us, despite us coordinating work, school, therapy appointments, and Uber with one car. We were then told the car would be ready Wednesday, but again received no call. On Wednesday, we were told one axle never arrived and repairs would be done Thursday -- again, no prior notification. When I picked the car up Thursday and paid $1,500, the exact same noise was still present within a quarter mile of driving. I immediately returned. After initially being told it was due to not replacing the brakes (it was not a braking noise), they test-drove the car and then said the real issue was a gunked-up timing chain/belt, which they "fixed" with another oil change and flush. The noise stopped. That raises a serious concern: why were $1,500 axle replacements done when the original issue was misdiagnosed and resolved with an oil change? Had this been correctly identified, we would have made very different decisions. Between the misdiagnosis, repeated missed timelines, lack of communication, and unnecessary expense, this experience was extremely frustrating and left us without confidence in the work performed.

My oil pan gasket leaks a ton of oil, and when I took it back to get it fixed, they blamed the leak on my oil pressure sending unit. When I got the car home, I cleaned all the oil off and the only leak was from the rear of the oil pan. The transmission work I had done they completely messed up. I had the bellhousing replaced, clutch fork replaced, and some other stuff. Recently, I noticed my clutch pedal feeling very heavy and my transmission started grinding when I shift. I pulled the transmission and found that Edwards hadn't put all the fluid that leaked out when they pulled the transmission. There was only 1.5 quarts, when there should be 3 quarts. And to top it all off, none of the bolts for my clutch where tight. Some were hand tight. Because of Edwards, my transmission is destroyed and I have had to replace it myself, and my clutch which was $1,000, is potentially destroyed. Do NOT take your car here

Update (see original post below):…read more Bottom line: they found the problem, fixed it, shipped the car to us, and covered the rental car. Longer story: In response to my original post below, upper-management contacted me and offered to do whatever it takes to get the car repaired. I dropped off my car the day before we were supposed to move from SC to TN, and their master mechanic got to work on it early the next morning. He found the problem: their other mechanic cracked my fuel tank when banging on it to get the fuel pump out, which was causing a fuel leak. It's hard to believe this mechanic didn't notice this when he did it, which would have saved everyone a lot of trouble and Paul's Car Care a lot of money. As a result of the cracked tank, they had to order a new fuel tank, but we were moving that very same day. So, they offered to fix the car and ship it to us in TN. When I requested that they cover a rental car, they offered to cover $100. After a little back and forth, they offered to cover the rental car until they returned out car. A week later, they returned my car with everything working properly. -------- ORIGINAL POST Bottom line: they damaged my car during the repair and didn't fix it. The story: I brought my car in for a fuel pump replacement on 5/16/2025. They replaced the fuel pump, but now I can't fill up my gas tank. Brought it back to them on 3 different occasions, but they couldn't figure out the problem or fix it. So, now I can only fill my car up with a little more than half a tank of gas, which, as you can imagine, is very inconvenient. The manager, Cody, repeated said he was "stumped" and had to call others to try and figure out the problem. And, he would only bring up possible problems when I identified them first. Seemed like he was trying to send me on my way thinking there was no way to fix the issue. He also admitted that the mechanic working on my car was inexperienced, while simultaneously claiming he couldn't have damaged anything, specifically the fuel canister that is right next to the fuel tank. And, Cody continued to insist that the mechanic does reliable work, even though redo his work by reinstalling the fuel pump the mechanic installed... Cody did offer to replace the fuel pump, said he ordered it, and scheduled a follow up appointment. But, when I showed up, he said the part never arrived. He never bothered to communicate that to me before I drove all the way across town. And, he never offered an apology for wasting my time. To their credit, they did replace several parts without charging me, but this was not without some back-and-forth. And, at the end of the day, the problem still persists. So, I'd love a refund on the fuel pump replaced--the repair that resulted in the damage. Wasted a lot of time and spent a good deal of money with this shop only to be left with a problem I didn't have before I brought my car in. They're either incompetent or dishonest, or a combination of both. Very frustrating. I would recommend you try Gerald's or Marks Super Service Center instead of Paul's Car Care.
