I was charged over $1000 more than the quoted estimate & they left my vehicle with electrical problems that I didn't have before. Kept my vehicle 2 month & did not take care of while in their shop. Ac was not working on my wife's car. I live right down the road from their business and have a storage unit that I rent in the complex where they are located. I have always heard good things about their service and recommended Sheaf to a friend last summer who had a brake problem while here in the area while vacationing. They fixed him right up then. So when the AC problem developed, I stopped by on Tuesday to see if I could get an appointment. They had an opening on Thursday so I brought the car in. Fearing the worst case situation with maybe a bad compressor, evaporator or something expensive. I got a call later in the day after my drop off. Robbie told me the system was pretty much empty of Freon and he filled it along with die and asked if he could keep the car one more day to monitor the situation. The car needed a new tire so I asked if he would change that out too. Picked up the car this afternoon. The bill was completely reasonable and I found Sheaf Automotive to be trustworthy and professional. Don't let the fact that they aren't located in a big storefront location in the city fool you. This auto shop was great!! I was told by another shop in town that I needed expensive brake work because of a smell I was smelling. I went to Sheaf automotive and they found out that the smell was a plastic bag stuck to the underneath of my car and that my brakes were fine. If I ever need additional work I would go back to them. read more

If I could leave them more stars, I absolutely would! I replaced the alternator in my Mercedes a year ago and had a alternator fault warning flash that terrified me (as in a 'do not drive this car or risk engine explosion' level according to the car handbook)! They are honest, trustworthy, and checked everything to make sure that the warning light was nothing more than an automatic mileage trigger that inadvertently hadn't been reset. Outstanding service and genuinely kind people! Highly recommend!!! read more

I have paid Sheaf Automotive over $8,000 to make my 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme...with only 65,000 miles safe to drive and mechanically sound AND I have had to take it back over 6 times to continually fix what should have been fixed. They kept it for 6 months..the first go round and we put on new wheels, but my right front tire flew off leaving me driving on just the wheel. They did come and towed the car and fixed it, but could have killed me! Then I gave them another chance to fix my air conditioning and it took two tries back to shop AND now my engine coolant poured out with one trip to Charleston today...THIS was supposed to be fixed my last time in Sept. 24, 2020 when my bill was $1,606. I do not trust one word they say about the WORK ...they said they did. read more

BEWARE! On February 7th Sheaf Automotive located off Savanah highway had an employee "Colton" come to our business and changed the oil and inspected a few of our vehicles early that morning as they would normally do. On this day Colton changed the oil and inspected Truck #11 the Isuzu box truck for our business. It was approximately 2 days when our guys were on the way back from a Summerville job the oil plug came out and a total loss of oil immediately occurred. Our box truck shut down stranding our guys on the side of the highway. After calling Sheaf Automotive, Colton arrived about an hour later or so and oil was everywhere even on the sides of the truck. We videoed a 6" wide trail of oil leading up to our truck indicating it was a quick massive loss of oil that happened in most likely under 5 minutes. Most likely the oil plug was just put in hand tight during the oil change. To make a long story short, David at Sheaf sent us a quote for about 9k to rebuild the engine. The Four of us had a meeting at our office and after we outlined the events with David & Colton, David Sheaf agreed to warranty the engine by just getting a used engine replacement vs. rebuilding. I was against this but he assured me that he would stand behind it. Six months later and the work has not been completed. Sent a certified letter giving him 30 days to have it complete or we would pick up the truck and have someone else finish it at his cost. Once I sent the certified letter David Sheaf immediately put a mechanics lien on our Truck even though it was not running in an attempt to keep us from getting the truck back after 30 days. He was denying that the oil plug ever came out... and blaming it on another issue they say they found in an effort to cover themselves. Apparently, he said it had a knocking noise that was the culprit, and it was not caused by the Diesel truck running dry of oil. What? Not letting this rest... I am suspecting that they may not have the funds to make the repairs caused by their employee. read more
