On my way to work I felt that the steering wheel rotation on my VW Jetta was a bit "heavier" than usual. I was driving on Mary, Johns Island. Ann Point Road I stopped and saw that one of the front tires was under inflated and in immediate need of air, As I considered my options...take a chance and risk a 2-mile trip on Main Road to a Circle K, call Triple A and then it dawned on me, there was an auto repair shop at the end of my road! I made it into Swift's Garage which, based on the number of autos in their yard was clearly busy, and spoke to one of their techs asking if they would provide an air line to reinflate my tire for which I would pay for service. "No problem Ma'am! Not only was my tire re-inflated but checked for the presence of any nails and air added to two other tires. "Great and many thanks, how much do I pay?" The answer being "No charge, glad to have helped and remember to come back when your Jetta needs service"! I am a Customer Service Professional in both the retail and hospitality sectors and want businesses such as Swift's Garage who provide outstanding service to be recognized ! read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but the way this entire situation was handled has left me no choice. I own a 2003 military Humvee with a 6.0 LS motor swap and needed custom exhaust work done. In the middle of June, I contacted Andrew at Swift's Garage after hearing they offered exhaust fabrication services. Andrew assured me he had experience with similar Humvees and that it wouldn't be an issue. He told me that if I had the vehicle delivered by July 1st, it could potentially be finished by July 3rd--perfect timing for me to enjoy it over the July 4th weekend. Wanting to avoid any delays, I had the Humvee delivered on June 30th. I also left approximately $500 worth of new exhaust components in the vehicle, including tubing, a muffler, and a catalytic converter, so they would have everything they needed to get started. Unfortunately, no work began that week--and while I understand that schedules shift, I was surprised and disappointed that no one reached out to communicate any delays or changes in the timeline. On July 7th, I called to check in and ask for an estimate. I spoke to Jason, who said they'd provide an estimate before starting the work. On Friday, July 11th, I received a call saying that work had begun and that the job would be finished by the following Monday. This caught me off guard, as I had still not received any kind of estimate--just a call saying it was already underway. That next Wednesday, I called again for an update and was told the work might be done by Friday. Wanting a clearer answer, I stopped by in person. When I brought up the original timeline Andrew had given me, Jason essentially called me a liar and denied that any such timeframe had been discussed. I found this both unprofessional and incredibly disrespectful. He then told me the truck might be finished sometime the following week. Today, weeks later, I finally received a text from Jason saying the truck was done--along with a bill attached. No warning, no final call to discuss the cost or details. Just a text and a charge. I chose this shop based on trust and their assurances, and I understand that things happen and delays occur. But the total lack of communication, disregard for timelines, and dismissive treatment from the staff made this a frustrating and disappointing experience. I expected professionalism--I got silence, excuses, and ultimately disrespect. So why leave a review? Because the "quality" of work I received was completely unacceptable. After all the delays, miscommunication, and dismissiveness, I hoped at the very least the work itself would be solid. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The exhaust system they installed was so poorly fabricated that I now have to have the entire thing redone. The welds were amateur at best--sloppy, inconsistent, and riddled with gaps. It was immediately clear this was not the work of someone experienced in custom exhaust fabrication. To make matters worse the new parts I supplied--parts that totaled around $500--were misused and ruined in the process. What I received was not professional craftsmanship; it was rushed and careless work that should never have left the shop floor. Originally, I was sent a bill for $1,500 in labor. That was shocking considering the lack of quality and the condition of the final product. Prior to arriving at the shop, I had been told the cost would be around $800. But once I saw the finished work in person, I refused to pay for something that was clearly substandard. After expressing my concerns, they told me they wouldn't charge me anything--but also insisted that I remove the truck from their property immediately. That says everything you need to know. This is not a shop that stands behind its work. This is not a team of professionals who take pride in craftsmanship or customer service. In my experience, this shop was untrustworthy, unprofessional, and ultimately, a waste of time and money. Beware before trusting your vehicle with Swift's Garage. I regret doing so, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

We have been very happy with the service we get at Swifts on Johns Island. Jason is always honest and gets us in quickly if there's something that needs immediate attention (like a headlamp bulb that was out recently). SIMPLY THE BEST! If you're seeking a trustworthy, effective, and honest car repair shop run don't walk to Swifts Garage on Johns Island. They do both mechanical and body shop work... my side driver's side door had a huge dent as well as the back tail light and fender had been hit, on top of that the AC compressor went out so they repaired that as well. My car looks brand new, better than before the accident, and my AC blows colder than ever... all at prices that were substantially lower than other places we contacted. These guys are honest, won't pad the job with additional items like some do, and they're all just a good group of guys who seem to really love what they do. I HIGHLY recommend giving Swift's a try whether you have an import or domestic car... you will not be disappointed !! read more

There is a definite reason why they have hundreds of reviews with a 5 star rating. Incredibly polite and customer service forward. They have so much patience, even when I did not. My car had to stay a few days extra so I was worried about having to pay extra labor hours, but that was not the case. If anything changed, they called and explained so I could understand. While my car was there, they noted my oil needed to be changed and asked to take care of that as well. Not only doing what I asked, but going beyond. So very happy to have these guys here on Johns Island. read more

Vacation Rescue! Swift's Garage Miracle Workers! Lots of things can go wrong on a vacation. Weather misadventures. Unexpected illness. Closures of all sorts. And car problems. My bride and I are driving down from our little village of Denver NC to check out Seabrook Island, SC. About half-way there, our car started stuttering under gentle acceleration. An hour later, the check engine light comes on. Dang! I had the spark plugs replaced in June so I am not having a good feeling about this. Fast forward to the next morning and I am calling Swift's Garage just based on reviews. Good call! I speak with Chris who says he has no availability. I describe the symptom and ask if it's a spark plug misfire. He says it might be. A beat passes then I tell me we are down from the Charlotte area on a short vacation. I'm about to ask him if he has any other recommendations and he just says, "Can you be here by 8:30"? Just watch me. I pull into the yard and it is packed. I can't believe he told me to bring it in. I'm jamming him up with his regular customers. He level sets expectations upon arrival: "We'll look at it but I can't guarantee we can fix it. Today". I have a choice to make. Take the car back and hope we can make it back to Denver, NC. Or risk a breakdown somewhere along the way and wait for 5 hours, maybe, for a tow. Easy choice. There's always getting a rental. A few minutes later he asks about recent service and I pull up the service history on my phone. A minute after that, Mike, the mechanic working the car, walks in holding the miscreant: A failed plug. If you're still with me, you know there's a happy ending to this story. The spark plugs get replaced and we both roll out of there with profound respect for Chris and Mike and a renewed sense of kindness and thanksgiving this Christmas season. The owner is George Swift.
