WOULD NOT GIVE QUOTE IN WRITING THEN CHANGED THE QUOTE THEY GAVE ME VERBALLY! (The company was suggested to us because they had previous experience moving medical equipment). I had contacted this company regarding moving a piece of medical equipment. My initial conversation on 5/26/15 was with Ben and I followed up the same day with an e-mail reiterating our conversation and what was to be moved. He verbally told me someone would get back to me the next day with a quote. I was not contacted the next day, but given that it was right after a holiday, I waited a few more days and called again. I was told by Scott that it was waiting to come back from the "pricing" department. Another couple of days went by and still nothing. I called the company that suggested them and was given the name Abdul. I called Abdul and told him the problem I was having getting a quote. He said he would take care of it. He called me back and said I needed to speak to Ben. I spoke to Ben who told me I needed to speak Scott (see where this is going???). I finally spoke with Scott and he gave me a verbal quote of $225. I said that was great and to please e-mail me a contract. I was not sent a contract or written quote, but a form to fill out to open an account. I inquired about the cost to insure the equipment during the move and needed to know that cost as well. I explained the cost of equipment was about $160,000. He said he would discuss it with the insurance underwriters. Again, no call back. I called again and Scott said that their underwriters would not insure it for that much and would not even do a partial coverage. Desperate to move forward to get the move done, I agreed that we would do the move without insuring the equipment based on their "experience". (Not a wise decision--but it ended up not mattering). Because we have other things being moved by other movers, the other movers were surprised that they would not insure the equipment. (Obviously movers move entire households with more value than $160,000). Today (two days before the move), I contacted Scott AGAIN requesting a contract with the quoted cost. I mentioned what the other movers said, and Scott became very belligerent towards me. He said that he would cancel the move and I could go elsewhere. I explained that I didn't want to cancel the move, but was merely stating what two other movers had mentioned. He again got very nasty. I asked to speak to Ben (his supervisor). I explained the request for the contract and how nasty Scott had gotten. I told him that Scott had quoted me $225 and that I wanted a contract with the cost and the details (where to start/end the move, detail of what was being moved). Ben said that there is no way that cost would have been $225 because they charge no less than $400 to start. (Scott had previously quoted $225 for other items from another location to be moved, as well, but we did not move forward with that one). I was shocked at the sudden unprofessional behavior of the staff. I never got angry with anyone and there was no reason to be so disrespectful. I found it very suspicious that they would not provide anything in writing stating their fee. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this company. It is companies like this that give movers a bad reputation! read more
