They left my tie rod end ball joint nearly completely loose... if it HAD come loose, i would have lost all steering function. I go to check the other side, and as i'm untightening the wheel, all my lug bolts are loose on this side and come out with nearly zero effort. Very low quality control on their part, and as i said earlier, could have left me in both an accident and a very large repair bill. Like i said, nice people, but the work wasn't good. Super disappointed, i thought i had found a shop to go back to, but oh well.

Cunningham Tuning is a basically one man shop, Scott is the founder, owner, and lead mechanic. He is a soft-spoken, friendly, and confident mechanic. I brought my VW TDI to Scott shortly after I bought it used. I had some history of the vehicle but, not being mechanically inclined, wasn't really sure what I had. Scott was honest and spoke in terms I could understand regarding what needed to be done and, important to me, in what order. He is ASE certified and has lots of experience with VWs/Audis (he also works on other import brands). He clearly knows these cars inside and out. That's the kind of mechanic I like, an expert. I have now had Scott work on my car 4 times and I couldn't be more pleased. Scott's depth of experience comes through in his estimates and ability to explain the work that needs to be done. All of his estimates have been spot on (always a nice thing when on a budget). Repair times have been as expected. So there have been no surprises. How about that for a car mechanic? No surprises! That's unheard-of in the car repair world. Scott's hourly rate is very, very competitive, I would say it is lower than every other car repair shop I have used. Scott has managed to make a very good business for himself. He is open daily 8 AM to 2 PM. I admire him for his expertise, his ability to keep my car in good operating order, and he does it all on his own making sure he maintains a work/life balance.

In fact, he encouraged me to get other opinions and estimates. The other shop I went to gave me bids that were much higher than what I was given at Cunningham. The work was done quickly and I haven't had any issues. All during the process he either answered the phone right away, or quickly called me back. So many other places I felt like I would get the run around. It's a very professional shop - it's pretty new so I hope they do well. After the repair, Scott called me to make sure everything was running well. Other shops should take note of Scott Cunningham. He's definitely a sharp guy and great at customer service. I took my beloved 2017 Ram 3500 to Barrett based on reading their reviews. The truck had 830,000…read moremiles on it when they serviced the Aisin Transmission, which is the original and never rebuilt. I noticed when I picked the truck up that the water and fuel light was on and I thought that was a strange coincidence. Over the years this light has come on two or three times after a car wash, and it's an easy fix to clean out the water in the sensor connection. I did that and even replaced the sensor in the rear fuel water separator. The light was still on, even though the fuel looked clean, so I ended up taking it to a shop in Oak Harbor before driving to the Tetons, as that light was bothering me. It turns out the technician at Barrett had inadvertently pinched some wires that ran along the crossmember below the transmission mount when he reattached the cross number. Thus the cause of the water and fuel light. Barrett was extremely honorable and covered the cost of those wire repairs, and the shops diagnostic fee. So the only thing I was out was the cost of a water and fuel sensor and time. At the time of this post, the truck has nearly 832,000 miles as I just did a trip to Teton Valley and back to Washington and the transmission ran beautifully. The service work the technician did was otherwise perfect and this type of mistake could happen to anyone, so I do not fault Barrett and I would gladly use them again and intend to. The fact that they honored this situation without question is an indication of a shop that has integrity.

I came in…read morewith the recommendation of several of my ASE mechanic friends from different local repair shops as I had red fluid pouring out between my tranny and motor. Mark assured me that they'll take an assessment of the issue and get back to me before doing any work. Later in the day I received a phone call from Mark. He shared with me the red fluid was not tranny fluid, however, the specialized coolant my duramax requires. He went on to describe that all fluid levels were appropriate and the tranny and transfer case were in fine shape. Despite feeling a bit embarrassed about not differentiating the difference between the tranny vs coolant fluids, I was extremely grateful that they did not take advantage of me and, instead, went on to show me where the issued was. Such honesty goes a long way these days. Based upon numerous recommendations from mechanics I trust and respect, and Barrett transmission's honesty (and the time they took to further investigate and show me the issue)., I'll be back with any transmission issues or maintenance needs that I might have. Thank you Mark and Cameron (the tech) for your professional and honest assistance. Charlie D, Ferndale

The car was diagnosed and I was giving a list of repairs and time frame. I was told to pick my car up at 4pm the next day. I arrived at 4:15. It was not done and was still in the air being worked on. I ask when I should come back and was told about an hour. I called about 30 minutes later and was told it's taking longer then expected. Everything up to this point is fine. Simple mistakes. Lake of communication. 4 out of 5 stars. Things taking longer then expected is fine as well. But when the owner of the business started to get upset with me is when the ratings starts to drop. Saying he doesn't have a crystal ball and he is going out of his way for me. Staying late to finish the job. Then I'm told they have the wrong part and Its going to be finished tomorrow. They did not stay late. When I asked if he has done this type of work before his reply was every a day all the time. But he can't give me an estimated time. "I don't have a crystal ball" OK after talking to the owner of TK Automotive Repair I was told I was going to "get my car when I get it when its done and fuck off". Asking me "now what, what do we do now". My response was fix my car. He was the rudest small business owner I've met. I'm still a little bit in shock. Did he really say fuck off. Yes he did. Then he started yelling some more about a crystal ball and told me to fuck off again. After this he said " I'm calm, why are you still upset" Then demanded to know what we should do after making me wait three days to pick up a car that should've taken 2 all the time getting upset with me. Fix my car. That is what I'm Paying you for. Thank you.
