When a friend of friend suggested that I have my wedding hair done at this tiny shop in a strip mall, I had my doubts... but his place totally rocks! I can't recommend them enough! I heart Megan!! She transformed me from my normal straggly-haired self into a BRIDE. When I came in for the trial with an idea of a modern version of a beehive to compliment my 50's gown, she calmly looked at the various pictures of things I want to somehow morph together, thought about it for a couple of minutes, and then proceeded to make it happen (Trust me, this was a pretty complicated 'do! And I am one PICKY customer). A friend has already asked to copy this 'do for her upcoming event. I loved my make-up too! Megan really listens to her clients and gives them exactly what they ask for. Sara also did a great job on my mother-in-law's hair and my Matron of Honor's hair and make-up! The prices at this salon are very reasonable and, contrary to most wedding vendors, they post prices right on their website! I did a trial run, which I highly recommend. Ana was absolutely amazing! I picked this boutique for my wedding day hair and make-up based on their great reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. A few months before the wedding, I went in for my consultation. I brought Ana photos of brides' hair I really liked, and she, my maid of honor and I, worked for two hours to figure out my hairstyle. We went went with a complicated updo- Ana was able to twist and braid strands of hairs as they were loosely pulled back. It really gave it a nice, rustic look that I wanted. She did my make-up as well, and took pictures and notes so that she would remember how to do everything the day of the wedding. She was very open to questions and suggestions from my maid of honor and I. =) A few weeks before the wedding, Ana high-lighted and cut my hair. I'm generally the Super Cuts kinda girl, as I usually just pull my hair up into a ponytail anyway. So, I'm inexperienced with hair in general, but I loved the job she did on it. The highlights were beautiful and natural looking. I had my Bachelorette Party that night, so she curled my hair at the very end. It looked perfect throughout an entire night of debauchery! The day of the wedding she showed up on time. I was actually running late, so the poor lady wandered around looking for me at the wedding venue. We finally found each other, and she finished my hair and make-up in a nick of time. There was one point where I wasn't liking the way it was looking, and I called my maid of honor over in frustration. Something wasn't right with the framing of my face- I didn't like it, but I didn't know how to immediately fix it. Through playing with it a little and rearranging the falling strands of hair, Ana figured it all out. She even got some spare flowers from my florist and tucked those in the back of my head. My hair came out beautiful, and I loved Ana's patience and creativity. She was very professional, timely and courteous. She even went the extra mile and gave advice and mildly assisted my bridesmaids with their hair and make-up (they were determined to do it on their own, but still needed a little help with the mechanics). My hair stayed up and secure the entire 7 hours of my ceremony and reception. Not counting the lipstick, my make-up stayed on as well. I have been very pleased with the services at Tranquille Salon and Spa in the two years that Megan has been my stylist. I see there is a recent bad review but since the issue was scheduling, I am certain that there is more to this story. I have never had an issue with scheduling, in fact, the staff there has been exceptionally accommodating and even rebooked me in a busy holiday week after I had to cancel my appointment with less than 24 hours notice because of a death in the family! Beautiful up-do! The delicate tendrils framing my face were perfectly curled and yet so soft. The teased-volume hair was smooth, the pinned curls were solidly in place and arranged with wonderful taste. It stayed put all night -- I didn't need the extra handful of salon-grade bobby pins my stylist gave me for "just in case"! My stylist, besides being excellent, was friendly and nice. Also, she did everything in the blink of an eye. I didn't have my contact lenses in yet and at first I thought, there is no way she could be done, it must be a rushed job. Not the case at all! I got married in March at Seascape Beach Resort in Aptos and had Sara come over to our room to do my hair and make up, and my MOHs hair the morning of the wedding. It's totally worth the extra money to have the option for them to come to you. Sara was great at our trial appointment and the day of the wedding. She was on time for both appointments, and listened to what we wanted. I don't typically wear much makeup on a day to day basis and didn't want my wedding makeup to be too over the top and not look like me but I absolutely loved how she did my hair and makeup! I also really liked the glo makeup line they sell in the salon and ending up buying the foundation, powder and concealer Sara used for my trial cause the colors matched my skin tone so well. Sara was so professional, kind and did an amazing job with my hair and makeup and my MOHs hair. I usually have really, really tight muscles in my back and shoulders on a daily basis, but this particular time I had a terrible, bad knot under my left shoulder that was so painful my left arm was tingling and it hurt every time I took a breath in (as a result of moving furniture the day before). I had never heard anything about them, found them on-line and called because they were close to my house. They were able to schedule me in that day if I didn't mind having a male give the massage. I'd never had a massage from a guy before, just always felt more comfortable with women. I said that was fine and was really happy to get an appointment within the following few hours because I was definately going to call the doctor if I was not able to find a massage that day. It's a really small, comfortable place and that was absolutely, hands down the best massage I've ever had in my whole life. Marshall is FANTASTIC! He's really strong and very intuitive and persistent with any knots he finds. I've had lots of knots in my back and lots of great massages. I usually leave feeling a lot better, but can still kind of feel the bad knots even though they are great improved. This is the only time I've ever left a massage with every single knot completely and totally worked out and GONE. That's never happened before. I can't recommend Marshall enough. I found this place about six months ago and have been going regularly ever since. Kelley is amazing - very skilled, very intuitive, very nurturing. She adapts the session well to what my body needs at the time; anything from a deeply relaxing Swedish massage to a more rigorous deep tissue massage, or a mix. The after effects of her work lasts for days. My wife is also now a Kelley regular! The massage rooms are quiet and comfortable. There's nice background music and heated massage tables for those cool days. And it's located at a great beach in Aptos so you can go for a nice beach walk before or after the massage. Last weekend, I received a 90 minute Thai massage from Marshall. Marshall is a true professional and an expert on intricacies of the body. Not only is he well trained and highly intuitive, but he is also very kind and makes sure his clients feel comfortable. He also spent some time educating me about anatomy, free of charge, after the massage was over. I would absolutely recommend Marshall for any type of massage. I have also received a wonderful Swedish massage from Kelley about 6 months ago, who was also highly skilled and very nice. When I first began researching stylists, these two ladies came highly recommended by our wedding site for their ability to effortlessly create any look and their willingness to do hair and makeup onsite. I met Emily a few months before the wedding for a trial session, and she was very knowledgeable of current styles and helped me find the words for what I was looking for. She is also a very skilled makeup artist who knows exactly what will look good for camera shots. We talked through the fact that my wedding was going to be outside, in various lighting configurations, and that I was also going to partake of a fairly athletic activity in the middle of it and put together a final look based on those rather non-traditional needs. The day of, Emily and Ana arrived on time and finished all four bridesmaids, myself, my mother and her twin, and the groom's mother on schedule. I was lucky enough to notice a deal going on, on their Facebook page. So, I jumped on it and scheduled a massage that day. The facility is very small, nothing special, but still very clean and tranquil. However, there was major construction going on outside the door and it defitnley affected my massage. I recieved a 90minutes full body massage that I would have considered perfect if it had not been for the noise outside. The massage therapist was able to get out my major knots in my shoulders and teetered on giving me a deep tissue based on my needs. I could have been there for another hour. I unfortunatley also got lost and had no idea where to park, since there is a sign next to the facility that says DO NOT PARK HERE, therefore I was 15 minutes late, and by the time I got on the table after filling out paperwork, she had to cut down on my massage time because there was someone else coming in. Guess they book them back to back with not much room for this sort of problrem. I would go back to try again should I be on time, there was no major construction going on outside, now that I know where to park and had a coupon so then I could really have a perfect experience. read more

What a luxurious experience! The spa is so quaint it makes you want to stay for the entire day! I had Amanda and she was amazing! After my body scrub, she rubbed hot seaweed gel all over my arms and legs then wrapped me in the coziest blanket burrito ever! While I was baking away I received a neck and shoulder massage followed by 20 minutes of listening to relaxing music. She came back into the room and rubbed off the gel with hot towels then gave me a 90 minute hot stone massage (insert drool here)! I've been to their old location by Rio Del Mar and recently visited their new location in Seascape. I had a really good experience at the old location but not a great experience at the new one. While the new location is beautiful, the individual rooms were so cold! I was cold throughout the whole massage despite the table warmer being set to the highest setting. It's hard to relax when your body is cold. More importantly, I was disappointed with the massage. It's only something I can afford to do a few times a year so I'm hopeful when I do get a chance to get some body care done. The therapist's style was different than what I'm used to. Her touch was very intentional and thoughtful, but it was way too slow for me. She only got to about half my body, there was a lot of light touches, gentle jostling of body parts, and lengthy transitions, all of which I could have done without. I was looking for more of a traditional massage to work out the soreness in my muscles but when I walked out of there, I still felt pretty stiff and sore. read more
