Ashley absolutely exceeded my expectations for wedding hair and makeup! She did my hair and makeup for both the Rehearsal Dinner/Welcome Party and the wedding day, and calling her amazing would be an understatement. From our very first conversation, I knew she was going to be perfect! She was a genuine pleasure to work with from start to finish, and her care for her brides really comes through in everything she does! I can't stress that enough! It wasn't just my experience that was incredible, either. The team she brought in for the wedding day was wonderful too. With 15 women needing hair and makeup done (30 services total!), I of course expected some chaos, but everything ran smoothly and right on schedule. Every single person walked away thrilled with how they looked!! If you're looking for a hair and makeup artist and team for your wedding, Ashley is hands down the best choice you could make!! 10/10!! read more

I couldn't be happier with Ashley and her team! From the moment we met during our trial, she was warm, inviting, and had such a calming presence. She opened the door for feedback very early on to make sure I felt comfortable with making any tweaks to my hair and makeup. I wore extensions for the first time ever during my trial for the wedding. She understood exactly how to work with my hair (that hardly ever holds a curl) to extend the life of the curls over a long period of time. My makeup was perfect. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I wanted it to feel warm, but not glammy. I wanted to enhance my natural features and feel like "me." She pushed me a little outside of my comfort zone with a tone of lipstick during the trial that I ended up LOVING and it went so well with my dress, so we went for that color and it looked fantastic in all of the photos. Most importantly, on the wedding day, Ashley and her team were the first ones there setting up, and she was such a calming presence throughout the morning and helped make getting ready so much fun. Thank you so much, Ashley and team! read more

Ashley is AMAZING!! I was so nervous about my hair and makeup, especially for the most important day, my wedding. I usually don't do my makeup and my hair is always in the same style. She put me at ease starting with the hair and makeup trial. I was obsessed after my hair and makeup trials and I just knew I had made the right decision to have her booked as my hair and makeup artist. I told her I wanted a natural look that wasn't too heavy for makeup and I showed her a few hairstyles and she made the perfect in-between that fit my entire look perfectly! The entire time she was an angel of a person and made me feel comfortable. It was seriously like we had been friends for years! Not to mention the amazing team she had with her, Camille and Tanika were so kind and attentive to all my bridesmaids and family members. Each one of the HMUA did better than we could have all imagined! We all felt so pampered and listened to. I can't express the positivity they brought to each one of us girls. I can't recommend Ashley enough. My wedding day hair and makeup were so perfect. The makeup was natural but made my face light up and my hair was amazing and even stayed in all night!! She's fantastic with her communication, she goes above and beyond to make you feel beautiful beyond words and she is such an uplifting person to be around! We all are obsessed with Blush Hair and Makeup Design! They are truly the best!!! read more

Ashley and Tanika were incredible for my wedding. It was the best decision I made for my wedding day. They were able to get 7 women ready including myself and they did it in no time. The planning process was well thought out. Tanika was incredibly fast with make up but it was also *beautiful*. Ashley could literally do anything with your hair. It stayed in place the entire time, as well as my makeup. The power went out as we were getting ready and they handled it like absolute professionals. So incredible. Thank you for everything. read more

I absolutely LOVED working with Ashley for my Big Sur elopement hair & makeup - I can't recommend her enough! She was incredibly helpful, professional and responsive... she even helped finalize my wedding day timeline which would have been a disaster had she not given her input! Because my husband and I eloped, I didn't have the normal "getting ready" experience... but Ashley was so fun and such a joy to be around that I didn't even notice! My husband joked afterwards that we were talking non-stop! I think we'd be best friends if I wasn't in Texas ;) Most importantly, Ashley is an AMAZING hair & makeup artist. She made me feel so beautiful and confident on my big day, and I can't thank her enough! read more

Ashley is wonderful in so many ways! Her talent with hair and makeup is exceptional. As an out of town bride, Ashley made me feel so comfortable and confident going into wedding day without an in-person trial, thanks to the super comprehensive video consult we did a few months prior. I have naturally curly hair and was hoping to keep it looking as natural as possible, which she did so beautifully! I trusted her completely, and my look ended up exactly what I was hoping for! Our wedding day was unseasonably hot, and not a hair fell out of place the entire day. Ashley and her team were communicative, professional, punctual, and fun to hang out with as we all got ready. I would absolutely recommend Ashley to anyone hoping to feel and look their best on their wedding day!! read more

So, so grateful I had Ashley on my team! I had the best experience! Can I get re-married so we can hang out again? I met Ashley in 2019 for a hair and make-up trial. I chose her because she seemed down to earth, I liked her portfolio, and she was very responsive. For the trial, I didn't know exactly what I wanted (natural, romantic, etc), but she was able to put my ideas/vibe into life. She took pictures and detailed notes. Not only was she responsive to my very minor grievances, she was validating and supportive. On the day of (...two years later), she had all the notes from our session and knew exactly what to do. The make-up was perfect, I felt comfortable, and did not make any adjustments. But the most amazing part was my hair. I have a massive amount of hair, and I've never had an updo where I didn't feel the bobby pins holding it up. She was able to do an amazing updo that I wasn't worried about coming loose and did not have any pain! Lastly, I emphasize what a joy Ashley is to be around. The morning of a wedding day can be hectic with high-emotions. Ashley and her team were punctual, professional, and just so much fun to be around. It was a delightful and laughter-filled morning -- perfect way to start the perfect day. read more

When I was interviewing a hair and makeup artist I instantly knew Ashley was the one. I was a little nervous about not having an in-person trial, however, she was an excellent guide and able to help walk me through my vision virtually. We never met until my wedding day, but just through our conversations, I trusted her completely. I was thrilled at the opportunity to use hair extensions for the first time, and also matched virtually. With a few photos on a Pinterest board, she completely transformed me into a stunning version of myself. Ashley is a joy, and it was fun being with her the morning of my wedding. I was eloping and didn't have a bridal party which was completely fine because I felt like I was glamming up with a close friend. She is a master at her craft and turned my fine hair into a spectacular voluminous updo. The makeup was perfect for me, fancy but not over the top, and it lasted through to the evening. I loved my hair so much I slept with it and all the bobby pins! I am glad I did because the next day I had the most glorious waves. Ashley put me on cloud 9 with professional treatment. She went above and beyond when helping me navigate with my full gown down to my first look. She made me feel like a red carpet celebrity. I wish I could look like that every day if I only had the hours needed. Thank you for making me feel stunning inside and out and supporting me during one of the best days of my life. I got married in Big Sur in August 2023 and was VERY happy with my choice of Ashley/Blush for hair and makeup. I live in Los Angeles and am into fashion and beauty, so my standards are pretty high in terms of what I expect out of execution, detail, and elegance for my hair and makeup. At the same time, I'm a down-to-earth person and the last thing I wanted was a snooty or high-glam vibe from my stylist on my wedding day. Ashley was the perfect fit. She listened carefully to what I wanted, asked for inspiration photos for myself and everyone in my bridal party, took over 6 hours on my trial making everything just perfect, helped me figure out what kind of hair extensions to purchase, took a long list of suggestions from me about subtle changes I wanted to make for the actual wedding day, and executed them all perfectly. Ashley even volunteered to take home my hair extensions after the trial, wash them, and prepare them for the wedding day. She is fast and responsive over email, accommodating of requests, and very reasonably priced compared to other artists in the area. And best of all she doesn't come off like an annoying LA-type stylist. She is actually someone I would be friends with. She fit in really well with my friends and family, knew just when to laugh along with us and when to be quiet/contemplative to match my changing moods on the day of my wedding. My overall look was romantic, fresh, pretty, elegant, and natural but glamorous. The rest of her team was great as well--we had two different getting ready locations and they covered them both, and really listened to what each member of the bridal party wanted. Ashley and her team go the extra mile and as a Type A bride, she is someone I would work with again if only she lived closer to LA! Thanks Ashley! read more

Working with Ashley was THE BEST. Firstly, Ashley is a great collaborator and a very skilled HMUA. She worked with me both on email and during my trial to create the exact 'natural' look I wanted. I truly have never felt more beautiful! Ashley creates such a relaxed and calm but also fun environment, it felt like I had a beloved friend helping me look and feel my best. Ashley also went above and beyond on my wedding day. Firstly, by making sure I personally was taken care of during a getting ready location change (in very wet weather!) - for which I couldn't have been more grateful! Secondly, she put me at ease and created a very serene environment pre-ceremony - I felt so centred and grounded. I was also worried about being a big crier and potentially messing up my look from happy tears - and Ashley worked with me on a plan that kept me looking flawless all day/night. I highly, highly recommend working with Ashley and the team at Blush HMD. Shout out also to Camille and Tanika - my entire bridal party loved their HMU looks! read more

Hiring Ashley for my hair and make up for my wedding in San Francisco was one of the best decisions I made for this special day. She was incredibly helpful throughout the planning process. Communicating with her was easy - her responses were timely and thorough. She was very open and receptive to feedback - I provided some feedback after the trial which she incorporated on the day-of seamlessly. On the day of my wedding, Ashley arrived promptly and worked efficiently. She styled hair for 4 women in the wedding party and they all loved their results. She brought a separate make up artist - Tanika - with her to help with the wedding party's make up and she did an amazing job as well. Most importantly, my hair and makeup looked perfect and held up the whole day. If you are looking for a professional, friendly, tasteful hair and makeup artist in the Bay Area/Santa Cruz area, I 100% recommend you connect with Ashley! read more

All the reviews are true! Ashley was absolutely lovely and very competent. I worked with Ashley for my June 2022 wedding and throughout the whole process she was knowledgeable, helpful, and really listened to me. I did the hair and makeup trial with her and Tanika and it was incredibly helpful. I highly recommend it! Ashley was patient and sweet with me as I figured out what I wanted and pulled it all together to make me feel beautiful on my wedding. She gave me the confidence to take the 100's of photos and feel like a super star. She even managed my Mom! Ha ha. Quick note to folks who don't wear that much makeup. We hired Ashley for our 2-day wedding weekend, including asking her to do an elaborate hairstyle for our Indian event, which included attaching a head piece seamlessly into my braid and hooking heavy earrings into my hair. Ashley. For both events, she worked absolute magic. My hair has never looked so beautiful. Not to mention, she HAND-DYED the extensions that we used so they looked most similar to my natural hair. Ashley was also so much fun to get ready with. It truly felt like she was one of my bridesmaids/friends and got along so well with my family. Hands down best wedding hairstylist in the area!!! I spent weeks researching for a great hairstylist and someone referred Ashley. I took a look to her portfolio and knew she had exactly what I was looking for. My hair have a lot of texture so I was worried it might be a problem but she knows how to work with any type of hair. We first did a trial of the style before the wedding day, she offered me 2 different styles that were absolutely beautiful. It took me so long to decide, she is so talented! The day of the wedding she did the EXACT style I wanted and my hair looked great even the next day! She gave me great suggestions during the process and made sure I was happy with the service. She did my hair and 2 of my bridesmaids hair. She was punctual, professional and with such a great energy that invaded the whole room. I also want to highlight Tanika! She did our make up and her work left us looking like superstars. Ashley will be my hairstylist from now on read more

While I didn't have my hair and makeup done, I can attest that they did an absolutely amazing job on my wife and family's hair for our wedding in April of 2022. I wanted to make sure I passed on her review (since I'm the one who uses Yelp) so everyone can know how amazing they are here. "Ashley and her team were absolutely phenomenal- I would happily find another opportunity to work with them, given the chance! I had been following Ashley for a number of years (I had initially tried to work with her when we planned our wedding for 2020 and was so happy she and her team were available for our April 2022 wedding date!), and was impressed by the style and experience she provided. Prior to the day-of, Ashley was incredibly easy to communicate with. Given the pandemic, we had a "hair/makeup trial" via Zoom and she quickly dialed in to what I was looking for and gave me advice on how to prepare for the wedding day. Talking with her about what I was inspired by and what I hoped for felt easy- she helped me further identify what my look the day-of might be and where there might be an opportunity to change it up depending on how things went. On our wedding day, Ashley and Tanika went above and beyond to ensure that my loved ones and I looked and felt our absolute best. They interpreted everyone's vision exactly as it was imagined, and I was so happy with how pleased everyone was by the end of our time together. My mother is notoriously against getting her hair/makeup done and Ashley & Tanika were incredible at making her feel comfortable with an "elevated natural" look that she talked about days later! I am so grateful to both Ashley and Tanika for their amazing artistry, thank you both!" read more

The best thing about my wedding -- other than marrying my wonderful husband -- was having Ashley do my hair and makeup. We had a trial and talked through what kind of vide I was going for on that day. (It was 1940's old Hollywood glamour.) Ashley did not disappoint! She also gave me great skin care tips I'm still using today. Don't give it a second thought, book Ashley for your special day. You will not be disappointed. read more

TLDR: My makeup and hair stayed on through ocean winds and crazy dancing (because hey, I like to dance), from 2PM all the way until midnight when I reluctantly took it all off. Ashley and Tanika did an amazing job that had me smiling from ear to ear on my wedding day. I highly recommend Blush Hair and Makeup Design for your special day! To start off, the trial: I arrived at the salon (note I say an actual salon and not someone's home), and I instantly noted how bright and welcoming it was. It was decorated like something straight out of an Instagram post! My dad was also very happy to get a very lovely cup of tea (or two, or three?) while he waited patiently on the sofa. Why my dad? Because he is the harshest critic I know, who had actually vetoed a previous makeup artist. And guess what? My dad was smiling when the hair and makeup was done by Blush!!! The makeup trail was first: Tanika sat me in front of a large mirror so I could see exactly how the makeup went on, which I appreciated. She reviewed the photos and criteria I had sent her ahead of time to ensure we had all the bases covered. I should note that my skin is incredibly sensitive, and a lot of products break me out like nothing else. I was very pleased that Tanika was prepared with an array of high quality products for me. I also noted how impeccably clean her makeup and equipment was. There wasn't an eyeshadow dust particle outside of their designated circular containers!!! Very professional. I knew I was in good hands. I was going for a very natural look, and the whole makeup trial didn't take more than 45min. I've done a previous makeup trial that ran over 2 hours, so this was a pleasant relief.... and the makeup completely covered all of my acne scars without being cakey! Tanika has an absolute magic touch!!! The hair trial: Ashley reviewed with me the hair updo photos I had emailed her, and utilized her expertise in guiding me on what would fit my hair type and length best. I was lucky enough in that we had time to try two updos and decide between them as to which worked best. Again, I sat in front of a large mirror and had a hand held mirror as well, so that I knew the process all the way though and could adjust anything as needed. The whole experience was so much fun! We tried the two styles and picked out a winner. Ashley made the most marvelous curls and twirls in my hair, and just the right amount of hairspray and bobby pins to keep everything in place, yet still managed to make my hair look touchable. My hair normally can't hold a curl to save it's life but Ashely sprinkled some fairy dust and ensured that my hair stayed perfect for the next 10 hours. By the end of the day, I knew I had met the hairstylist and makeup artist that I could trust on my wedding day. I couldn't stop looking at myself in the mirror at how marvelous I looked!!! Oh and it gets better! Ashley and Tanika somehow managed to make me look even more beautiful on my wedding day! Absolutely mind blowing. My maid of honor and two bridesmaids looked absolutely stunning as well, and my mom was incredibly pleased at (1) how many people commented on how perfect my hair looked and (2) that people were commenting on how beautiful HER hair looked. The professionalism, sweet and funny personalities, and expertise displayed by the Blush team made me feel at ease and look stunning on my wedding day and I hope you let Blush take care of you on your wedding day as well!!! :) read more

Ashley and her team were so amazing on my wedding day. I was worried because I have had bad experiences getting my makeup done before, but from the start Ashley made me feel so comfortable. In the trial she really helped me figure out what I wanted. She even helped with making sure my schedule for the day of the wedding made sense so we were on time by the time the photographer arrived. She communicated so consistently despite me being across the country and was so fun on the morning of the wedding. I went from having anxiety about my hair and makeup to feeling absolutely beautiful. Several of my bridesmaids also said they have never felt prettier. And somehow she worked magic and none of our hair got messed up despite the wind! I'd recommend her in a heartbeat. read more

Thank you Ashley and your team!! I did a trial run with Ashley for my make-up, as I didn't need my hair done since a close friend was doing it. The trial run went great and I hired her and her team to do myself, the bridesmaids hair and make-up and my mom/soon to be moms hair and make-up. They did such a great job! I wanted a natural make up look on everyone and the hair was curled with a little pulled up to the side or a braid. They did a great job doing the bridesmaids hair and make up how I wanted it, but also how they wanted it. We had 10 people that were being worked on. Ashley worked closely with me to make the perfect schedule since we had a yoga class before and most bridesmaids wanted to go to that if they could... thanks for all the schedule updates! Ashley is the BEST! As is her colleague, Camille. Ashley did the hair and make-up for my daughter's wedding, and everyone was extremely happy with the results: the bride, myself and the MOG, and the bridesmaids. At my daughter's HMU trial, Ashley listened attentively to her vision and, when asked, provided advice on how to best achieve the look she was striving for. My daughter looked absolutely stunning for her wedding! A perfect balance of natural glow and bringing out her beautiful eyes, cheekbones and lips for an elegant and romantic look. Not only is Ashley gifted artistically, but she is so much fun! There was a lot of laughter exchanged during the trial and on the actual wedding day. Ashley has a fabulous sense of humor. Additionally, Ashley is very professional and organized. Camille, part of Ashley's team, did the make-up for the wedding. Camille is an absolute sweetheart! She did a beautiful job on all of us. She adapted to the different skin types and requests from each of us and brought out our best features in a natural manner. Additionally, Ashley was proactive by taking into consideration the possibility of fog/moisture in the air at the venue (outdoors near ocean) in the products used for hair and skin. Every single hair style and make-up application held up beautifully throughout the entirety of the wedding ceremony/reception/after party! We wholeheartedly strongly recommend Ashley and her team at "Blush Makeup and Hair." You will be in the best of hands for your special day! This is a long review, so in summary: Ashley is a freaking miracle and your hair needs her. I first went to Ashley to get eyelash extensions. I'd never tried them before and was nervous about having some kind of allergic reaction, which I'd read was a possibility. When I went in for my appointment she spent about 15 minutes explaining the process and making sure she knew what kind of look I wanted. I expressed my concerns about having a reaction, and she was incredibly understanding. To my surprise she suggested that we just put in a couple lashes on each side right then, and then she would fit me in the next day for the whole set if all went well. This made me feel such relief, and I was (pleasantly) surprised that she didn't charge me anything for that first visit. The eyelashes she put on didn't irritate my eyes at all, and I went back the next day to get a beautiful, thick, full set. She is extremely thorough and detail-oriented, which I appreciate, and she is also just a really nice, warm person to spend a couple hours with! About a week later I texted Ashley in panic. After a horrible haircut at a different salon where the stylist cut off way too much hair, I thought I should bleach my own hair ("well I can mess up my hair all by myself" was my reasoning, which is exactly what I did). My hair was falling out by the handfuls and the result was uneven and just ugly. To my relief, she quickly got me in the next day to see Sam, the other stylist. Sam did a great job for the hot mess rats nest that was my hair. She gave me tips on how to take care of my hair, and basically instructed me to not color or cut it for as long as possible. It's been hard but I listened. 5 months later I went back to Ashley for a trim and color. I was very ready to go back to dark hair, and I was hoping my hair would be healthy enough to dye. Ashley asked me to come in to look at my hair before my appointment, and she spent about 20 minutes looking at my hair, talking to me about what my options were for getting my hair darker without further damage, and explaining the color correction process that she would be doing. The results were incredible. Not only was the color beautiful and exactly what I wanted, my hair looked healthy for the first time in months. After my horrible haircut at another local salon, and then the even worst chemical haircut from bleaching my hair to death, I have shed rivers of tears over my hair. After Ashley got done with my hair, for the first time I cried because I was so happy with the results. Ashley is an amazing stylist, and is a fun and kind person. The salon is incredibly cute and immediately welcoming. By far the best salon I've gone to in Santa Cruz county. read more

So...I had a long history with my stylist, and sadly realized I needed to find a new one, because the trust was gone. I called Ashley and we came up with a plan to deal with my hair. Its growing out a super short pixie and the last cut was not flattering at all to it, and made the growing out process that much more painful. I loved that she really thought about it, and even contacted me the day before the scheduled appointment to talk about what she thought was the best way to deal with it and keep my hair healthy. We ended the hair session with some fabulous eyelash extensions. Lots of quality time with a fabulous lady and SOOOO very happy with my hair and battable-lashes! read more

Thank you, Ashley of Blush Hair and Makeup Design! Ashley and her team at Blush made me and my bridesmaids look gorgeous for my wedding this past January 2014. I have been to many wedding celebrations and have never been impressed as I was with Ashley's work. She transformed us into the most beautiful versions of ourselves. We didn't look like clowns, we didn't look extremely made up. We looked natural, with enhancements that complimented our natural contours and curves on our faces. I felt extremely gorgeous - probably the most confident I have felt in my entire life! Her team arrived on time, and placed their tools and makeup in an organized fashion. Wedding days are chaotic and somewhat disorganized, and it causes stress if your room and surroundings are not picture ready. But Ashley and her team, made their stations look like a work of art. It's fun to see our "getting ready" pictures. Another thing that made Blush Hair and Makeup stand apart from other H&M studios is that her insight on the wedding day and etiquette is on point. Ashley worked on my Hair prior to doing my makeup, so that in my pictures, I would look presentable. How could you have a made up face with MESSED UP hair?! Ashley ensured that this didn't happen... and now I flip through my wedding album with no embarrassment. Ashley took care of our wedding schedule prior to our event. I did not need to arrange H&M schedules myself. I got to be the Bride Also, we had some difficult situations arise between different members participating in the wedding, and Ashley took care in being flexible with some last minute requests and moving around of time slots. I loved the personalities of Ashley and her team. Our conversations were up building, and meaningful. I found myself laughing the whole time, and never got to shed a tear. The people I surrounded myself with were full of joy. And it consumed me with happy feelings the whole day. As an African American woman, it was hard to find someone with the experience of doing ethnic hair and color matching my skin. But she went out of her way to do research, give excellent tips, and make sure I was 100% satisfied. I wish Ashley lived next door to me, so she could make me up every day! We were truly pampered by Blush Hair and Makeup. My girls all said, "that was the best makeup anyone has ever done on me!" and I am confident you will say the same if you choose Blush. You won't regret it. It was an investment well spent. Much love for you, Ashley! Sarah Villa read more

Ashley at Blush is amazing! She has been my go to for all things beauty for the past five years and I could not be happier. No matter what changes I want to make to my hair, she figures out a way to do it without damaging it. I also just started going to Blush for eyelash extensions and I LOVE them! I've been seeing Ashley for my hair and makeup needs for several years now. She has saved my life and hair on more than one occasion. Let's just say the Little Mermaid look wasn't good for me. Ashley is extremely professional and knowledgable about what she is doing. I am not one to spend a lot of time on my hair or buy expensive products. I was using off the shelf shampoo and conditioner. I was also never particularly impressed with how my hair behaved. After Ashley started taking care of my hair she began suggesting different products I could try using to improve the health of my hair. Granted, these products are a bit more expensive but I believe they are well worth it. I see Ashley every 4-6 weeks for a color refresh, but she typically only has to trim my hair every 3-4 visits. Her makeup skills are absolutely amazing. I rely on her solely now for any events I have. I know that I am in excellent hands with her. Again, this is not really my area of expertise and I don't usually have any idea what I want when I go to see her. Ashley doesn't let that stop her. I have always been incredibly happy with the job she has done. Recently, I had extensions put in for the first time. I have wanted them for a long time and was extremely excited. I didn't realize, though, how much extra work was involved in caring for them. Ashley was very patient and detailed with her explanations of how to care properly for the extensions to make sure I get the most use out of them. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair now. I am located in Cupertino and I would rather drive the hour (and sit in traffic) to see Ashley and know I'm going to get superior service. She is well worth the drive! read more

For wedding hair and make up I don't think it gets better than Ashley and her team, they were absolutely amazing! I had to do all my correspondence from out of town and wasn't able to do a make up or hair trial. But it didn't matter at all, lots of photo reference a lot of emails later and it turned out perfectly. Ashley is also the loveliest person, calm, stylish and super talented. read more

One word: AMAZING. Two words: ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. What else can I say about Ashely? She was so professional, and such a hard worker. She came to the hotel room right on time and worked tirelessly on my bridesmaids and me. I felt very comfortable with her. She listened to what we had to say and delivered what we wanted... plus more! My whole bridal party is Korean and we were a little nervous becuase some makeup artists are not familiar with Asian eyes, but Ashely had no problem with it. We all felt beautiful! Our hair was also done amazing and in time. I definitely recommend her for your event. Thank you so much! 10 stars! read more
