...my hair is pretty long and when I pull it up in a pony tail now (a few months after my haircut at Tranquille) theres a big chunk about about 3 inches long that sticks out sideways from underneath my hair (like the bottom/lower most layers)...which means it was even shorter when it was originally cut...who would do that to long hair!?! read more

I had an appointment to get my makeup done here for an event i was going to and i had one of the worst experiences. i showed up to my appointment and was sat down right away. the woman doing my makeup was the owner and it was a terrible job. she did not seem prepared, organized, and did not seem like she knew what she was doing at all. she seemed clueless to where to even start or what shades she should use. she applied the thinnest layer of foundation and it did absolutely nothing. she then attempted a smokey eye shadow look that turned out absolutely hideous. it looked like i got bunched in both of my eyes, with pigment under both eyes constantly falling off. when applying my eyelashes, they were not secure at all. it was very upsetting because you go to get your makeup done to be stress free of doing it yourself. instead of that happening, i had to worry about how fast i can drive home to remove it and attempt to do it myself. all the ladies working were very sweet but i will never come here again. read more

I had bought a gift card for a friend's birthday for a 1 1/2 hour massage. We decided we would go to Massage Harbor together. I had Marshall who was incredible. Every masseuse has their own techniques and skills. Marshall is right up there with some of the best massage artists I have had the pleasure to experience. The only downside to our massage was the windows were open. I understand that this is probably necessary for air circulation. But, hearing cars whizzing by, a bus releasing its hydraulics, dogs barking and people talking is not conducive to the zen like experience I have had at other massage spas. read more

This is the 2nd time I've had my hair and makeup done by Megan. The first was for my engagement pictures and the second was for a black tie event. Both times, the final product was perfect! Megan is very talented at what she does and incredibly sweet. She is very good at replicating a particular look, if you take in a picture, and she's good at creating what you describe. I didn't think I would be able to get an appointment on Saturday, just calling the night before. I was in luck and got an afternoon appointment. Ana colored and cut my hair. Awesome. I had Meagan. During the trial, I showed her some pictures and she found a good medium that worked for me. Between the trial and the wedding I changed my mind on some detail for the hair/make-up, so when we got there the day of I told her and she easily made the changes and it looked awesome. I went to Tranquille for the first time with a groupon. Sarah was my stylist and she did a great job. I have hair that is curly and a little difficult to work with and I was really happy with the results. The only complaint I have is the ambience. It is in a strip mall and the salon is VERY small with the chairs super close together. It felt like a place for old ladies. Ok for a discount cut like mine but I think normally they charge $75. This is what I usually pay but it is at a chi chi salon where they pamper me much more - they offer me wine before my appt, give me an extended head massage when washing my hair etc. This place is pretty no frills for a $75 cut. Still Sarah was great, really nice and a good stylist - I highly recommend her if you decide to go there. read more

I originally bought a groupon for a cut at this place and was scheduled with Sarah. I was going for a drastic change and she did a wonderful job and totally got what I was going for. I have since had her do my up-do for my wedding and another drastic hair style, all of which have turned out exactly how I wanted it. And she does it very fast. I highly recommend her!! read more

I've been getting massages for at least 15 years, so I know the difference between a good one, bad one, and one that just doesn't click with you. However, this massage was a horrible experience. There was no flow, choppy and sloppy (towels were all over the table for excess oil). There was no evidence of any kind of formal training. There were at least 4-5 times during the massage where there was 1-2 minutes of no contact. She cleansed my face (apparently she is also an esthetician). I made the appointment for a massage, not a facial. She tried to charge me $10 more than Tranquille's brochure and website pricing. She would not accept a credit card. Megan saved me - 2 days before my wedding I realized I was incapable of doing my own hair and makeup. I thought I didn't care, but faced with the prospect of 100 pairs of eyes and a camera trained on me, I realized that I did. I called Salon Aptos - they were booked and recommended Tranquille Spa. I was able to schedule an appointment with Megan for hair and makeup the afternoon of my wedding. I showed up with 3 bridesmaids and a few bottles of champagne, and nobody batted an eye. Since this was a last-minute thing, we didn't have a chance for a trial run. I said something along the lines of "my fiance likes my hair down, I want it out of my face, and I really like that picture on your website..." Megan went to work and 1/2 an hour later I had awesome, fancy-but-laid-back bride hair. Then it was time for the face: "I never wear makeup, my fiance didn't recognize me the one time I tried it, so I just want to look like-me-but-better and not washed out in photos." Again, a calm nod, and voila - light, natural, but a definite upgrade from every day. She also threw in a sample of the lip gloss at my pro bridesmaid's request (I never would have thought of it) so we could do touch-ups. I felt like a freaking goddess all night. Everything survived 5 hours of hard dancing plus encounters with a bike helmet and cowboy hat. Thank you Megan and Tranquille Spa! And, word to the wise: if you care at all how you look on your wedding day and aren't a hair/makeup expert, just leave it to the pros. It saved me a lot of stress, was worth every penny, and I have never looked or felt better. read more
