I submitted my taxes in September and had them done three weeks later in October. So I told my new wife they were awesome and saved me a lot of money and were even willing to have our back in the event of an audit. So we switched from her accountant to Mark. I felt like the man! Then came the embarrassing and emasculating events of last summer. We bought a house in April, so we filed for extension. We gave our tax info to Mark in May with the expectation that we would have them done in July. No problem, he said, We'll have them done in June! We didn't hear back from him after multiple phone calls and emails until late July. Finally we received our taxes back but and I'm hoping they are correct. Maybe something happened with their health or a family emergency but, they never told us. All we got was radio silence. Given the state of disarray at their office I was really concerned that they lost our taxes entirely. If something is going on with them I sincerely wish them the best, but don't risk people's financial lives if you can't be healthy enough to manage it. I never feel rushed or anything like that. A reminder is sent in December to let you know that you should schedule an appointment or upload all your documents to the SmartVault before the appointment or as a substitute for your appointment. Smart Vault is where they store all your past tax documents, which comes in handy if it's ever needed. This year, I decided to explore the other options and utilized the SmartVault option, so all I had to do was upload all my documents and just wait until Joe get a chance to process it. Joe called me with additional questions. After all said and done, he sent me notification that it's ready to file, and all I had to do was reviewed, signed, scanned, and upload to SmartVault for filing. The invoice for the service is also included, and you can make a payment over the phone with Sally. This is so convenient, and such an innovation way to do your taxes without having to leave the comfort of your home and fight traffic. Super awesome! And I will definitely be back, and suggest you do too!

After answering their questions I was told I wasn't a "fit" for them. Given the fact that I was looking for some pretty complicated S-Corp tax and transition issues (which I expected to pay for), the only reason I could have been rejected was (i) I didn't list enough income, or (ii) the computer automatically rejected it as too complex (?) Hmmmh, not feeling warm and fuzzy about the whole "relationship" vibe they promote. UPDATE: Wow, super fast response to initial review (1/2 hr, maybe). Wish I could do 3.5, or better yet, 4 (if they had actually reached out instead of offering to help via Yelp). Sorry, need to agree to disagree. There weren't that many online questions, and one would hope the purpose was to match you with the right person. But 2 of the few questions were how much my company and I personally made per year. If the firm interests you, I would recommend you call them - not use the online gatekeeper. Other reviewers are certainly positive about their interpersonal skills. I'm was just turned off by the cold "sorry no" at this point.

Before finding out about Jessica, I called up all these other tax agencies and spoke with people that didn't sound like they really knew what they were talking about and many times gave me conflicting information. I called her probably about 3 times during those first few weeks, and was worried she would get annoyed with my questions, but she never did and always seemeed happy to hear from me. She helped me out with my state taxes, which literally, took maybe 2 minutes to complete. Wow! Talk about fast in-and-out service. I was also really impressed with how neat and clean her office was, and how she could pull up answers to question in minutes either on her computer or in some manuals she had.
