When I spoke with Jessica, she was able to give me good answers to my questions that I was able to understand, and also gave me great suggestions for my business! I called her probably about 3 times during those first few weeks, and was worried she would get annoyed with my questions, but she never did and always seemeed happy to hear from me. She helped me out with my state taxes, which literally, took maybe 2 minutes to complete. Wow! Talk about fast in-and-out service. I was also really impressed with how neat and clean her office was, and how she could pull up answers to question in minutes either on her computer or in some manuals she had. That last tax professional I saw about 10 years ago, had paperwork splattered everywhere, and had clients constantly going in & out of a very tiny office, where everyone could hear your personal information. I was so horrified by that experience & the fact that person bungled up my taxes, that it took me 10 years to go see another tax professional. I feel so lucky that I finally found Jessica, who I am totally confident in her ability to do my taxes properly and that I will get the best deduction I can get with her help. I have been meaning to write a review for Isaacson Tax & Accounting for awhile now..but it slipped…read moremy mind. I was delightfully reminded today when I received an email for SOMEONE ELSE'S TAX RETURN for the SECOND TIME THIS YEAR. Yes, you read that right, this is the second time they have emailed me about someone else's refund/information/ect. My experience in 2018 is still being passed around my family & friend group because it's so unbelievable. I had my first big year (2017) of basically full time-freelance money on top of my full-time job, so I thought I would seek a professional's help. I was super organized with passing off/organizing my paperwork & expenses, but was greeted with 21 questions/judgement on why I "did hire an employee to manage all my stuff" (again, my first and only year I have done that much work) I stuck it out with her office though and was transferred to a really nice man who put my return together. After I sent a payment to the IRS because I owed, I was NEVER invited in to go over my return in person or sent my return paperwork via mail. The only contact I received after payment was 2 notifications saying they needed to "extend" my return. As time went on, I was planning a wedding, and grabbing my return copies completely slipped my mind... Until 2019, when I decided to do my taxes with my husband. We found out that my taxes that I hired Cindy to do WERE NEVER FILED. The IRS told me to file a complaint. I called Cindy's office multiple times, leaving multiple messages asking for my return & what happened...she NEVER returned my call. I finally got ahold of her and she was extremely angry and rude on that phone claiming "she was too busy to deal with this and would look into finding my paperwork later". A month went by, as tax season came to almost an end, and I was able to reach the lady at the front desk who seemed embarrassed by the whole situation and pulled my paperwork within 30 minutes. I drove up to the office, where Cindy greeted me with my paperwork acting like nothing was wrong. You know, I was only picking up my 2017 tax return paperwork in 2019 that was never filed. No acknowledgement... There is no excuse she could use for this experience. If I could give 0-stars I would. I am sad I didn't pass this information on sooner, but thanks to an email meant for someone else - I was able to write my review.

First, I feel badly giving a small business a poor review, however, I have real concerns about how…read moreMAS operates their business. I have used MAS for 6-7 years for my annual taxes. Every year, I have turned my paperwork in and I receive a call when it's complete with no questions asked! Easy...I thought. However, I switched this year to another company after being dissatisfied with MAS for the reasons in this review. Not only did I pay 75% less than what MAS was charging me, but I also received a couple of calls asking for clarification and met with someone in-person at the end to review my return and be sure that all was in order. I never experienced anything like this with MAS. Over the years, I occasionally called during the year to ask a quick question (I called maybe 8 times (once or maybe twice per year.) Twice, my calls were never returned. Once, my call was returned 3 months later when the issue was a moot point. This next situation, however, is what really has me concerned. I asked a question this past year and was able to talk to my accountant on the phone. We spent less than 5 minutes talking and then she asked me if I wanted her to give me an estimate on something I was asking a question about. While the info was not crucial to know, she offered so I said, "sure!" She got back to me with a number. 4-5 months later, I received a bill for hundreds of dollars for this question being answered. First, I was never charged for asking a question in the past, so I never would have expected this. Second, when I was offered this option, I was never told that I would be billed for it (and why would I when I had never been charged before.) I will add that I do respect her time and I have no idea what kind of time it might take to pull a number (could be pulling up a computer screen and looking, or maybe more math was involved.) At any rate, I was not informed ahead of time that there would be a cost and if I knew, I would never have asked for the number to be computed as it was not dire information for me to have. Last, when I called her to discuss this and express my concern, she said, "it's fine, I can just write it off." I have to say that I was shocked. An accountant running an accounting business? Sending a bill to me 4-5 months later after not informing me I'd be charged and now is telling me it's a write-off for her business? This certainly does not fit with my idea of business ethics.

Rarely having to visit their office if you don't have to. Their associates do the heavy lifting of gathering your info and capturing what you need. You will not typically meet with the main accountants. They if anything review your documents on the back-end. Their price was a bit higher than I had hoped, but again, I had great service there. Their location is quite possibly the farthest tip of Edmonds you can get, making getting there a chore. Especially if it's during a heavy period of ferry traffic. If you have lots of deductions, itemize, real estate properties, rentals, these are the folks to review your taxes and prepare them.
