While the individual employee responsible no longer works at the firm, Huddleston as a business refused to take ANY responsibility for their negligence. When I tried to request a fair settlement from Huddleston--such as receiving a partial refund for the amount I paid for their tax services given that they failed to fulfill their duties--they stopped responding to my messages. When you trust a business with something as important as your financials, you deserve better, and as a fellow small business owner, I am incredibly disappointed in Huddleston CPAs.

But when I asked him specific tax planning questions, sometimes he gave very general or very vague answers that are not very helpful. There were wrong answers too that I found out in my own followup research. Advise those who wants to work with him do a thorough interview and ask concrete questions about your specific situation, to make sure he can handle them well. That said, my tax situation had some extra considerations that may not be the case for others.

I had to identify and correct these issues myself, and the firm conducted extra internal review without informing me. The errors I identified were either acknowledged in writing or revised in subsequent drafts. When I met with the owner on June 8 and presented detailed emails outlining these errors, he said he would look into it but never responded. My check was cashed on June 12 despite unresolved problems, and a certified letter I sent on June 15 requesting an amicable resolution was ignored. The final bill was double my deposit, with no communication that costs would increase. Although the firm advertises decades of experience and attention to detail, the work I received did not reflect those claims. Alla very well knew this rule but did not tell me and allowed me to believe I was getting it all back. When confronted he is just like a con man talking circles trying to avoid and blame. I also requested that advanced child tax credit payments from 2021 be requested as mine were stolen. He requested a stimulus payment in the amount of $2700 , not three $400 child tax credit check payments. I would get a return of $4000. After everything I ended up paying $600 to file the returns with a promise of getting 4000 back. Obviously, since the wrong thing was marked, the IRS changed the return and I got back $83. I did not get my missing child tax credit checks and Alla tried to talk his way out of it. Even went as far as to tell me I told him to . He dod nothing wrong! Why the hell would I tell anyone to do my taxes wrong? I know the difference between a stimulus payment and an advanced child tax credit payment And my tax related should too. First, I feel badly giving a small business a poor review, however, I have real concerns about how…read moreMAS operates their business. I have used MAS for 6-7 years for my annual taxes. Every year, I have turned my paperwork in and I receive a call when it's complete with no questions asked! Easy...I thought. However, I switched this year to another company after being dissatisfied with MAS for the reasons in this review. Not only did I pay 75% less than what MAS was charging me, but I also received a couple of calls asking for clarification and met with someone in-person at the end to review my return and be sure that all was in order. I never experienced anything like this with MAS. Over the years, I occasionally called during the year to ask a quick question (I called maybe 8 times (once or maybe twice per year.) Twice, my calls were never returned. Once, my call was returned 3 months later when the issue was a moot point. This next situation, however, is what really has me concerned. I asked a question this past year and was able to talk to my accountant on the phone. We spent less than 5 minutes talking and then she asked me if I wanted her to give me an estimate on something I was asking a question about. While the info was not crucial to know, she offered so I said, "sure!" She got back to me with a number. 4-5 months later, I received a bill for hundreds of dollars for this question being answered. First, I was never charged for asking a question in the past, so I never would have expected this. Second, when I was offered this option, I was never told that I would be billed for it (and why would I when I had never been charged before.) I will add that I do respect her time and I have no idea what kind of time it might take to pull a number (could be pulling up a computer screen and looking, or maybe more math was involved.) At any rate, I was not informed ahead of time that there would be a cost and if I knew, I would never have asked for the number to be computed as it was not dire information for me to have. Last, when I called her to discuss this and express my concern, she said, "it's fine, I can just write it off." I have to say that I was shocked. An accountant running an accounting business? Sending a bill to me 4-5 months later after not informing me I'd be charged and now is telling me it's a write-off for her business? This certainly does not fit with my idea of business ethics.
