I have a 2006 truck with 212,000 miles and i was certain i was experiencing a significant transmission issue. Hard shifting, popping into tow haul, and difficulty in shifting to a higher gear. Tranco thoroughly checked the truck's transmission and test drove it with multiple mechanics. They found the issue. My GPS tracker was interfering and corrupting the tuner software i had previously loaded on the truck. Unplugging the GPS tracker completely resolved the issue and my tuner continued to work perfectly. Saved me many $$$'s. Tranco is honest and they know transmissions. I wanted to get a my transmission looked at, a flush or similar service because I hadn't had it done since I got my car. On top of that, it was doing this unusual downshift from time to time when I start to slow down for a turn or coming to a stop. I called Tranco for a rough estimate which they were able to give me and I made an appointment to bring it in the work. Since the initial phone call I was pretty happy with the customer service. When I dropped off my car they even asked if I needed a ride somewhere. Nice! I didn't realize that was an option. Luckily my coworker was kind enough to meet me there and haul my ass to work with her. Keith on the phone previously and he was also the one to check me and get everything situated. Very nice guy, super friendly and professional. I thought it would take most of the day but they called me about three and half hours later to let me know my car was all ready to go. He said they weren't able to make an assessment on the downshifting thing i mentioned as my car didn't do it while they were in its possession but that they didn't see any driveability issues with my car so not to worry about that concern. To top it off, the work came out to be less than the original quote. Bonus! The guys at Tranco did a great job. I didn't leave feeling like I had been "had" as you do sometimes when you get automotive work done. They are courteous and honest. My car straight up died after school one day and they were very efficient at getting it fixed within a week (was about 3 days tops, but it was a lot of work to be done!). The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. My reviews are normally a lot longer but not much else to say. Great friendly and speedy service. Rob is the best! My Chrysler was having some transmission issues and instead of being the typical mechanic shop that we fear that tries to take advantage of uneducated customers Rob broke everything down for me and started from the ground up, he could've just said hey let's replace the whole transmission, but instead he took it piece by piece and ended up replacing some cooling wires a few mounts and my solenoid module and got my car up and running again!! Any transmission issues from here on out that I experience, Rob at Tranco will be the first person I get ahold of!! Great company, they are great at educating you on what they are fixing, they take photos and make sure you can see what they see and are very good at what they do!! My Chrysler runs like a champ! My truck was leaking transmission fluid and stalling at stoplights, which I suspected was not a good thing since it's an automatic. I reluctantly called up Tranco after driving by their billboard day after day as I tried to remain in denial that my truck needed service. The manager was immediately helpful, even over the phone. He suggested I first take it by Jiffy Lube because they could fix it if it was just the pan. As it turned out, I didn't get off that easily and it needed more repairs. I took it in knowing that the price tag could be from $95 to 3k but I felt comfortable with the staff and the quote I received. The manager was very thorough and took the time to actually show me what needed fixing and why. I was updated at every point necessary, in detail that was actually too detailed for a mechanically illiterate person. I stopped short of telling him "just tell me what it's going to cost bc everything you are saying is meaningless to me." As it turns out, the u joints were busted and the transfer case was cracked and some other things that made sense when I heard them but I can't repeat since car talk might as well be a foreign language. Anyway, it all got fixed and I don't feel like I got ripped off. They called to follow up the next week and said I'd get another call in a few months to make sure everything is running as it should. Hopefully I won't have to go back any time soon, but I had as good of an experience as can be hoped for when shelling out cash for unexpected car repairs. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but when I get service this Awesome I have to jump up and give a standing ovation! I had transmission trouble one morning, so I had to drive my wife's car to work. I came home that night and she said numerous facebook pals of hers recommended Tranco. I did my usual google search and checked many reviews that had very good things to say, so I decided to give them a call. A very polite gentleman named Keith answered on the first ring and I explained my problem to him. He said if I drive my car in, they would give it a free 21 point inspection. I didn't think my car was driveable, so I asked him about the free local towing that I saw on the website. He said, sure, they could come get the car and I gave him my address and phone number. About 5 minutes later I received a phone call from the tow truck driver wanting to verify my address. About 30 minutes after my call, my car was already on it's way. Needless to say, I was very impressed with how fast they were taking care of my problem. The next morning, Keith called and said they inspected my car and it was either the solenoid or the computer. They proceeded to change out my solenoid, but it was indeed a computer issue. Sadly, they don't fix computer issues, but Keith said I could come get my car and take it to Japanese Car Care less than a mile away they would fix it for me. So I went in to get my car and asked how much I owed them. Keith said I didn't have to pay them, because they didn't fix my car. I was very surprised as I expected to pay for the tow and some labor. WOW! Who else does that in this day and age! Again, I was very impressed with their Great customer service and their honest and fair business practices. My experience with Tranco was OUTSTANDING! Recently my manual transmission failed on the way home after 204,400 miles. I called my primary auto care technician (PACT) and told him what was happening and if I could have my car towed in to his shop. He informed me that he was swamped for quite a while. I asked him for a reference for a transmission shop, and with no hesitation, he recommended Tranco. I found out later that my PACT sends his personal automatic transmission work to Tranco. Now, if Tranco is good enough for my PACT, it's good for me. They not only got my truck back on the road quickly, but they also gave me some education and tips to keep my transmission healthy. I knew that the hydraulics uses Dot 3 brake fluid, but it never occurred to me I should have it flushed on a schedule. Tranco could have done that for me. If I did, I would have saved the slave cylinder. Tranco is happy to rebuild or repair a transmission, but they also do maintenance. It's better to have the transmission serviced on a schedule than to have it breakdown and rebuilt. Overall, I know where to take my vehicles for my transmission needs. read more

BEST AUTOMOTIVE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE HANDS DOWN! I just got home to Dallas from a mission trip to ABQ. The first night we were there my car DIED at a very busy, scary intersection. I was towed to Pep Boys even though there was ample reason to suspect transmission problems. Pep Boys was terrible and said that my car was fine. After calling my auto shop in Dallas for advise I looked up transmission shops based on solid good reviews and found Tranco. They agreed to work me in on Wed very first thing. When I got to Pep Boys Monday night to pick up my "driveable " car I was informed my transmission was shot like I suspected. Having already wasted 2 days with Pep Boys I had my car towed to Tranco. They called me by 7:30am Tuesday with preliminary diagnostic info even though my appt wasnt for another day. They knew I had a deadline to travel back to Dallas and worked tirelessly to get my car ready in time. By lunch Thursday it was ready but they had unearthed an unrelated AC problem. THEY drove my car to have it checked out by a different repair shop and called me with the verdict! While they aren't AC guys and ultimately couldn't repair the AC they offered to bring my car to the sight of the mission trip for me and called me the next day to make sure I had made it home safely. Never in my life have I experienced such consistently thoughtful customer service ANYWHERE! They were so knowledgeable and genuinely cared about not only getting the customer the most reasonable deal, they understood the importance of my getting home and clearly placed the needs of the customer over the bottom line. We've had a few times around the block with the folks at Tranco, and we're happy, repeat customers. I've had a transmission replacement with a rebuild for an old Range Rover. We've had a rebuild each done on our Acura MDX and our Ford Escape. On this fourth time, we wanted to write a review. The transmission on the Acura had a problem right at the end of the three year warranty. Six days past the end, we had to take it in for work. It was a big job, and they were happy to honor the warranty and fix it at no cost because "it was the right thing to do." It's running again and we're tickled pink. I took my vehicle in for a diagnostic check after setting up an appointment three days prior. The gentleman at the desk told me "it should be ready in 3-4 hours." I felt that was reasonable and went about my day. I return in 3 hours to discover that my vehicle was not looked at, not at all. Dominic the manager was apologetic, which I appreciated, but this shop wasted my time as if it meant nothing. Dominic mentioned they were behind schedule a couple hours that day and that was the reason for the delay. Disappointed...they did transmission work which I paid then over $5,300.00, and it didn't take care of the issue for which I took it to them...after several return trips, it still did not work correctly...then, upon threat of legal action, they did fix my car's transmission...they refused to refund any money for the unnecessary transmission work...the experience left me questioning their competence and honesty. read more

We had the transmission fail on our Sprinter Chassis RV while outside of Gallup. We had it towed to the only truck repair shop in Gallup who told us that they could fix it, only to tell us later that they did not have to proper tools to do the job. We called some shops that work on Sprinters in Albuquerque who referred us to Ray and his staff at Tranco. After talking to Ray on the phone, we had the RV towed to Tranco from Gallup. Our situation was a little complicated since the transmission that failed was still under warranty from another business. Of course, that business was looking for any excuse not to honor their warranty. After diagnosing the failure, Ray had to spend much additional time proving to this company that the failure was legitimate and the warranty should be honored, which they eventually did. A replacement transmission was shipped to Tranco from the company and they had it installed the following week at a very reasonable price. Not many shops in this business would go out of their way to help a customer out in a situation like this, but Tranco did and this speaks volumes for their integrity and customer service. Not only that, Ray was able to help us safely store our motorcycle and bicycles that we had on the RV until we could get back to pick it up. He also provided transportation to a car rental agency so we could get home to Georgia and a ride to Tranco from the airport when the RV was ready to be picked up. Obviously, we would recommend Tranco to anyone needing transmission work in the Albuquerque area. They definitely went above and beyond the call of duty in our case. read more

Most honest guys in the business. They truly value their customers, not just out to make a buck. I was told by my long-time mechanic that my Jeep needed a new transmission after the warranty just expired on it two months prior. Took it to Tranco for a second opinion before wasting more money at the other place. Glad I did!! They advised me the transmission did not need to be replaced and confirmed the issue was with the computer once again (which was supposedly fixed and replaced twice within one month at the other shop!). Very thorough when looking over my vehicle. They took pics of the faulty aftermarket computer that my mechanic had installed and compared it to the one they ordered directly from the dealership and showed/explained to me in great detail what the issue was which I appreciated.
