We live in Nevada and were vacationing in the Albuquerque area when the automatic transmission in our 2006 Tundra began to fail. The crew at Budget Transmission Masters quickly got us in and diagnosed our problem within one day. We were presented with two repair alternatives and chose a new Toyota OEM transmission replacement. The part arrived about a day later and the work was complete within about two days after that. It's been three months since the repair and the new transmission is working fine. We were treated with consideration in a professional manner. The owner and staff made an extra effort to accommodate our circumstances. Based on my experience with this business I can highly recommend their service. Background: Mazda with 120 k miles on a working automatic transmission. Old fluid, long time since last change. 1) Several other local shops refused to perform a filter change due to high mileage. 2) Transmission Masters stated that they could perform the filter change by appointment. 3. Appointment set by telephone call. Upon arrival TM immediately initiated the repair. Shop appeared well maintained. 4. Technicians presented the evidence of wear (not unexpected on high mileage vehicle), and their assessment of the repair. 5. Technicians completed repair and performed successful test drive. Bottom line: TM performed a small job that other companies refused, and did this in a professional manner. I would not hesitate to bring them more business in the future, large or small. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place. First it took 14 days to get my car. The only reason I think I got it it's because I hounded them to get my car. Secondly my tires were new and now I have a nail came in my tires were fine picked it up tire pressure light is on and have a nail in one of my tires. Thirdly someone from this place stole my car charger and my company phone. Fourthly they had too leave my car light on because my battery is dead and now I have to buy a new battery. Fifthly they broke the lever to pop my hood and now I don't know how I'm going to replace my battery if I can't open the hood. Lastly the guy tried to charge me way more than. He told me I would have to pay for the diagnostic but after I called and spoke to several people I found out that's discounted if I get my car serviced her. I'm so unhappy with this place. I rather not spend my time leaving a review but my experience there was AWFUL. First off, I'd like to consider they are called Budget Transmissions.. The quality of work is okay and took longer than I had expected. With the amount of time they had you'd expect to have your vehicle ready and move on with your life.. On top of this concern you have to deal with a young receptionist that is uninformed about her role, and kept giving me misinformation about my vehicle, she had lack of professionalism and awful communication skills. I would've been okay with the time frame but when you have a representative who is negative and unknowledgeable, it definitely decreases your experience. ( budgeting for low value work ethic ) This will be the last time I go here and being in the auto industry I will also be discouraging my network to skip this place. read more

Truck ended up with a problem going into park after a new transmission was put in for $3600. They then charged me for assessing the issue that they caused. The problem WAS NOT there prior to having a new transmission installed. Customer service not clear. Got completely f***ed by these people. Really sad I cannot recommend them now. read more

2003 Ford F350 6.0L Diesel. Had the Transmission fully rebuilt here in Feb 2022.. worked great until September 27 2023 the tranny would NOT shift. had it towed back in the following Thursday (09/28/2023) is still under warranty. The only way to give complete credit to this fine business is to acknowledge each service separately. I was eleven hours and 765 miles into a 2,000 mile trip to move my daughter with a trailer and all of her belongings. My transmission completely failed in Santa Rosa 120 miles from Albuquerque. After making several calls and discovering that all the shops that I contacted told me there would be a 3 to 5 week wait or more for the work to be done on my truck. Bob's shop is AAA rated and I felt confident in that. When I arrived, Bob greeted me with dignity and true concern for his clients, he is a true gentleman. When I explained my situation he made a promise to get the job done as soon as possible. Bob and his team were able to get a transmission for me. He even recommended a hotel near bye and arranged for me to be driven there. Days not weeks later the job was completed. My daughter was able to get to her new job without me and I was able to reunite with her several days later with all of her things. For such a lousy situation for me to be in, Bob really saved the story. Great Great Great I also must give gratitude to the office workers that took the information, started the process and kept me informed throughout the process. I cannot forget the mechanics that don't usually get credit because they are in the grease and dirt doing the actual work to get things running. Without a good team all is bound to fail. less than 12,000 mile and the transmission went out. I took the vehicle to Budget in July or August before the 3 years were up. Bob said ther were no issues with the Transmission 3 months later it went out. They had it for 4 weeks and charged me $1100.00 . He would not work with me since the warranty had only expired a couple of months prior. the transmission doesn't even have 12,000 miles and it went out. They are money hungry and would not work with me. I offered to buy the parts and Bob said he was looking for used parts to save me money. Well the used parts were over $750.00 I could have purchased rebuilt parts for $350.00. Stay clear of this place. read more

My son and I were traveling across the country for vacation when I began having car trouble. I suspected the transmission so I stopped here. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience here. The lady in the front seems very welcoming and I was working with Andrew who diagnosed my vehicle. At first it was just $130 for the diagnosis and later I got a call that they needed to do additional testing to be sure it's all it was and that it would be another $130. I was hesitant because that's a lot of money just to find out what the issue is not including the parts and work. Andrew assured me if they did not find any additional issues he would not charge me the additional $130 for it, I agreed that sounded much better. I went to go pick up my car and the lady in the front was the sweetest person ever she almost didn't charge me for the diagnostic at all but I wanted to pay at least the $130 because I had a feeling I wouldn't get the work done there. Andrew was there but it seemed like he just wanted nothing to do with me, he hardly spoke to me just at the end when I was getting ready to leave. I asked her to verify the $130 for me and she did but it seemed as Andrew was maybe bugged about it. I can't be sure as he never really cared to talk to me. I really wish I could have had another mechanic there help me, anywho he told me that the part I needed was on a national back order and that it won't be fixed til mid January. I called my dealership and it wasn't on back order I ordered my part it'll be in tomorrow. I also scheduled with my dealership to put the part in all in all going through my dealership was more affordable and apparently more efficient than what I've experienced here. I was quoted $1200 for the part and labor plus the $130 I paid for the diagnostic. My dealership is doing everything for just under $1000. I dunno I just feel like I got a crappy scenario and that Andrew was just prioritizing other people with a similar issue as mine because when I told him all of this he was more interested in how and where I got my part because he has another person who needs it versus how intensely unfair he treated me and made it clear that because I ordered my part elsewhere he can't/won't help me with the labor part which I figured would be the case but I definitely couldn't wait until mid January anyhow even if I trusted him to order the part for me. read more

My vehicle had a problem from my old mechanics mistake. I searched for fixes far and wide online to see if I could do it myself. After days of searching I found no answers and decided I needed to let a professional look at it. I'm new to Albuquerque and had no idea where to begin. Several people told me where they take their vehicles for transmission repairs, but one person in particular told me about Budget transmissions and I took his advice and took it to get diagnosed. Everyone working there was friendly as hell, and they did good work for me. Before the work was done they worked with me about what I actually needed, and afterwards they mentioned some things that may be an issue later but weren't urgent yet. I had an issue about the labor charge I paid, but within minutes of sending them a message about it one of the owners called me and said I was absolutely right about what had happened and sent me a refund check for the difference. They already had my money and didn't need to do that, and taking that extra step was a really solid move. Also, they accept the Car Care One card, in case anyone else is looking for that. read more

Possibly the greatest customer service I've ever had. We were in town for the ballon fiesta when our transmission started acting up. Best mechanics in town, hands down! I am so happy that I found these guys. Every experience has been pleasant. The staff is knowledgeable, courteous, and respectful. Volvos can be expensive to repair, but they always search for the best possible quote. Far more affordable than anywhere else in town, and they do excellent work. As a young woman, I have had unpleasant experiences at other shops in town. My daughter and I have always felt totally comfortable at Budget Transmissions, and I leave confident that we are safer than when we took our car in. They do far more than transmission repair. These guys are great! I'd been going to a Firestone nearby until they changed their entire crew out, so I felt it was time for a change. They solved my initial concern for coming in, in no time. They took my appointment seriously and had my car up on a lift within ten minutes of me arriving, and later helped me solve a very real issue I had not been aware of previously. My husband and I had dealt with this shop before and for that reason we thought that our vehicle would be checked for any issues it may have. We drove it in and spoke with Bob the owner and we were told that they would call back by the next afternoon. When we were told that we needed a new tranny and it would cost a great deal more, we went for the truck. Our truck, no longer runs and unfortunately Bob states it is not the shops fault. So I went to Budget because my truck was having this jerking bump thing it was doing while accelerating. I left it with them in the morning after already calling ahead the day before so they new what it was in for. They called me around 8:30am asking what my truck was in for because the person I talked to did not write it down or put it anywhere. So I waited for a response and finally got tired of doing that so I called them around 2:45-3:00pm. They told me they could not get to it today and then told me he would give me a call in the morning. The next day I waited till noon and did not hear anything and called. They told me someone was on a driving test at that time and would call me in an hour. I waited till 3:00pm and called them asking what was going on with my truck. He said he would call back in 30 min when my truck was off the rack because they could not find anything. After 30 min with no call I went over to them and my truck was there waiting for me. I told them how they had not been calling me that I have been doing all the calling to find out info and it seemed like they did not care. I took my truck home and on the way home felt the problem again so I called them to make an appointment to take it on a test drive with a mechanic. I went on the test drive and the mechanic felt the problem in 100ft. So I went to the front and asked if I left it with them for over 24 hours could they get to it and they said yes. I called them at at 1:30pm and they told me to call in another two hours and they would have something so I waited till 3:30pm and called and they said they guy went on a test drive and that he would call me back in a half hour (thought guy was testing mine). So I waited till 4:30PM and they close at 5:30PM and they tell me they never took the truck out. So I went to get my truck. I can't keep spending money and asking people for rides just because these guys do no know how to manage there work. So between the 15 min it took me to get to the shop they lost my keys. Instead of having it ready it is still on the rack and had the keys in it. I gave these guys multiple chances to make things right and they cant even get my truck ready when I am coming to get it. One of the guys in front brought the truck around and then started to give me excuses. He said it took two Technicians to do the job one to read the machine and one to drive (well why did he not jump down and drive the truck and why he did not call me in the morning so it gives me time to get a ride). Then he told me he was on the guy all day to get to my truck (then why did it matter if the other tech did not come in). He went to tell me that when I decide to bring the truck in, and that is when I cut him off and told him the truck was not coming back, that he can't call me and tell me what is going on. He then goes and lies to my face saying that he can, but he has not called me once on this (mind you the woman in the office is the only one to call me and ask me questions). I told him that he has not called me once and then the other guy in front comes up and gets in the conversation. Now I don't think they meant to do this but now they got me cornered, granted the exit door is close but they are right there too and that made me un-easy. So the new guy in the conversation starts to tell me not to let all on him how they are sorry and how that is not how there business is (well it sure was for me on several occasions it is not like I based this on one visit) I was finally able to get out of there, kinda had to leave while one was talking but I got out about 5:00PM. The guy that came in late called me around 5:45Pm that day and again started to apologies and tell me that when I bring my truck in and that he will call me in the morning. Three days later around 1:00PM he calls me and asks if I could bring my truck in again. At this point I went to someone who respected my time and got the truck fixed elsewhere (The front desk still cant call me back when they say they will). I will never go back here. read more
