I've been training with Travis now since February and it's been amazing! I've never trained with a personal trainer before, partially because in my head I had this image of a drill sergeant/boot camp type taskmaster and that's not been my experience with Travis. He's been really good about working around some physical kinks I have following a car accident and the fact I haven't exercised much in a few years. Travis is the absolute BEST!!! I can't possibly recommend him enough! We've been training twice a week for almost a year and the improvements in my life have been plain for all to see. It seems like every friend I see now starts by complimenting me on how much weight I've lost. Travis is super accommodating and flexible. He travels to a park near my apartment so that I can meet him after work, and if my schedule changes at the last minute he always accommodates me. When I started training with him I hadn't touched a weight in almost 20 years. Travis devised a workout schedule just for me and has been building me up ever since. He does a great job of alternating workouts so just when you think you've got a handle on things, he brings in a new workout to challenge you even further. When you start with Travis he has you take a survey so that he knows exactly why you want to work out, and what your goals are. My goal was to lower my cholesterol to avoid going on medication. I will admit I was very nervous about working with a trainer. I searched high and low and found Travis, and I'm so glad I did! Travis is not one of those typical meathead type trainers, nor is he the army drill instructor type who will make you feel like puking after every session. What he is is encouraging, thoughtful, well-educated, and crazy supportive of your individual fitness goals. He's also always on time and flexible with his schedule and where we meet, which for someone with my schedule, is key. He took all of my anxieties about working out with a trainer and put them to ease. His exercises are difficult and challenging in a good way, but never impossible; they're a great mix of strength training and high intensity bursts of cardio. He's informed and up to date with his info too so I don't feel like I'm in old school gym class. I've seen such a difference just in the last month and a half working with him. Already my arms are more toned and I'm beginning to see some definition in my abs! I've also lost a couple of pounds. Travis is also great about encouraging me to stay on plan even on the days I don't see him. Basically, I've gone through a body transformation since working with Travis, and it's from his wonderful mixture of physical challenges and mental/emotional support. I thought I'd dread training, but instead, I look forward to seeing him twice a week because I know we are getting that much closer to my goal. I've had several different trainers throughout my life, but Travis is the first one I don't cringe at the thought of working out with! Not only is he affordable for the long haul, but he's got a great disposition. He's extremely kind, knowledgeable about physiology and he'll make you laugh as opposed to cry. In fact, our sessions together are my favorite touchstones of the week! They've also gotten me back into nature on a regular basis, and that's been excellent for my mental health as well. In a short period of time, my fitness level has improved dramatically. I was worried that the weight training would make me bulk up or re-injure a recent shoulder injury, but in fact I've started losing weight while getting stronger in my back so I'm having less pain! He also takes measurements at the beginning so you can see first hand what's changing in your body in case the scale isn't telling you quick enough. I feel so much less stress now that Travis is taking care of my workouts and tracking the amount of weight/reps I do so I don't have to focus on a thing except how good my body feels. I can't recommend Travis enough! If you don't belong to a gym and want the convenience of working out in the park, your home gym or even your living room - Travis is your guy. He's an amazing trainer and extremely knowledgeable about kinesiology and working around injuries. Travis keeps the workouts fun and challenging. He's also really easy to talk to so the sessions are never boring. Every session he came up with new exercises and always asked for feedback if there were certain things I didn't enjoy or conversely things I liked and wanted more of. We worked out in the park which was a nice departure from being at a gym, having to wait for machines and such. I started with a meniscus tear in both knees and after 10 sessions my knee pain was almost gone and I was able to jump for the first time in a long time. I've been working with Trainer Trav at least 2 times a week for last 7 months. He's very flexible about schedule. We meet in Griffith Park at 7am most mornings and it's such a better experience than working out in a crowded, sweaty gym. He also designed workouts for me to do at home and while on vacation for no extra charge, which have been very helpful. Travis isn't the stereotypical meathead trainer who yells you. He's very chill and uses positive reinforcement to help motivate. I also receive exactly 1 high-five from him at the end of each workout. My goals going in were to lose weight, strengthen my core and build more muscle definition. I've lost 20 lbs and my wife has noticed my body transforming. I hope to lean-out more in the next six months, but that's a matter of me not drinking so much beer and avoiding birthday cake at office parties. Travis is extremely professional and each time he trains my husband and me, he comes completely prepared and ready to give us an incredible work-out. We work out in a public park, and he is very good about getting there early, reserving a spot for us and keeping a varied and intense level going for the entire hour. His calm manner is much-appreciated (I don't want to be yelled at when working out!) and he is also full of encouragement, getting us to do an extra rep or so when he thinks we can do it. He has been great about building up our strength over time (adds 10 seconds to plank, or extra reps each week so we see results).
