A weighted pull up I couldn't do a year ago.

How can I describe my experience at Callahan Strength in just one sentence? I can't. I originally found Lance and Callahan Strength one day as I walked past the studio, it was near my work, and it was a no brainier to try it out. The studio is an amazing private facility with everything anyone needs for a solid strength training workout. I worked out steadily with Lance for about a two years before I left due to personal reasons, only to come back two years later with a new fitness goals and new perspective on myself. I've gone from scrawny to brawny in just 9 months of steady training. I was barely able to do a pull up, but now I can do perfect pull ups with a weight dangling off of me. Lance is a true sweetheart who has become more than just a trainer, he is a friend. I look forward to many more training sessions and getting even more fit than I am now. Thank you Lance!

Update 06/10/16: It's been a little over a year and a half with Lance and I can't say enough great things about his talent and understanding of his clients. Since we began, we've explored new and refreshing plans and techniques together to maximize the efficiency of my workout. Never once have I felt we're working outside of my comfort zone or the safety of what I'm capable of. Nor have I ever felt bored or unenthusiastic about our sessions together. He keeps things structured, but fresh at the same time. He is always eager to learn more about his clients and what fits their needs best. As I have progressed, so have our goals and techniques. I've loved every mile of the journey and the personal attention he has given my workout regimen. I can't wait to see where I'm 6 months from now. You'll find a few of my recent pictures in the photo gallery on here. I promise I never used to look like this. I'm in the best shape of my life and constantly in awe of where I've arrived at with Lance's guidance. Since working with him, I consider him a mentor and close friend as well. Thank you, Lance!

I've been training with Henry for 2 years now working on speed, agility strength and have learned and seen massive improvements. As a soccer player I never really went to the gym and thought it was a waste of time but Henry has taught me the importance of off the field work, how to fuel my body, and most importantly take care of my body. He's positive energy and motivation has kept me pushing and wanting to train more with him. He always pushes me to reach my maximum potential and he truly is the best trainers out there.

I have been working with Henry for about a month now, and I already feel like this will be the place that I'll be coming for the rest of my life. As a trainer, Henry is kind, patient, and encouraging, but he will also push you because he knows you're capable of it. He is also a truly gifted teacher, and he's been helping me learn about proper form and how to structure my workouts so that I can avoid injury. I also really appreciate that Henry tailors his work with you based upon your own goals. Learning how to work out properly was really important to me, and he's gone out of his way to help me understand how to exercise in a way that never makes me feel silly or weird for not already knowing this stuff. I genuinely look forward to my workouts with Henry -- a sentence I never thought that I would say! If you're someone like me who has struggled with finding a comfortable gym environment, I cannot recommend Henry or the other amazing trainers at this gym enough. I feel so grateful to have found this place!!

I started working out at Lift two months ago, and I absolutely love it…read more The workouts are effective and efficient, and, if you're a nerd like me, it's interesting to hear Dirk and Chenell talk about how the movements strengthen different muscle groups. They're always nearby to make sure my form is correct, and they never lose patience when I ask them to remind me how to do certain moves. Speaking of supervision, I went to Lift today for the first time in about a week and a half, and I told Chenell that I've been experiencing some pain in my left shoulder. She sent Dirk outside to talk to me about it, and after I described my symptoms, he re-wrote part of my workout and continued to check in to make sure I wasn't in any pain. I felt super safe and respected, and there was ZERO pressure for me to push through any discomfort. Hiiiighly recommend this place!

The environment is welcoming, supportive, and most importantly, safe in every way. As a woman, that matters more than it should, but here we are, still at that point in this dumb world, unfortunately. I have never once felt uncomfortable working out there. The gym itself has six stations, which makes it feel like a semi-private training experience and all of the training is with free weights. Every workout is tailored specifically to me, which is a huge benefit. I'm a former ballerina with injuries and fibromyalgia, so I need a lot of modification in my training, depending on the day. They always meet me where I am at and we adjust as needed. They also still manage to keep things challenging when I express wanting to push further but it is always in a way that feels safe and productive. One thing I especially appreciate, coming from a dance background, is how much they focus on body mechanics. Dirk, Chenell, and Emily don't just tell you what to do or demo it once and walk away. They actually take the time to explain what's happening in your body, how to move correctly, and why it matters. Over the past almost five years, I've gotten noticeably stronger and my body has changed for the better but beyond that, it's had a real impact on my mental health, too. Showing up here feels good; so good, that I recommend the gym to many of my friends. If you're looking for a place to train and a workout that's personal and supportive with real results, this is the place.

Anytime. Anyday…read more Anyway you can. Anytime Fitness - Glendale is no frills good clean fun. Located on Colorado Street on the corner intersection with Louise Street, parallel from Glendale Central Park. You can enjoy this little big location any day of the week with key fob access. They offer a 1 day free trial membership, that I wish was more like 3 to 5 days, but a win is a win! All the cardio equipment is in front with a great view of the street and local Glendale life. Some of the bikes and non treadmills can feel a little mushed together, but they do utilize all the space the best way they can. Restrooms and Showers are tip top, with crazy amazing water pressure. Some cubby holes and lock boxes to store your belongings. Parking is easy in their private lot, however it is limited. It's only a blockish from the the Americana and two from the Glendale Galleria. My boyfriend doesn't live far from here at all, so it's an Anytime I hope to revisit a little more getting back into the swing of being more active. Studio is really nice for free use if no classes are happening. I'm not a full member again yet, so I can't speak to all the policies that have been updated, but with the exception of less amenities and locations Anytime Fitness is exactly what it promises and this one in Glendale is one I appreciate.

Just signed up last week (shoutout to Stephanie--she made the sign-up painless and was an absolute…read moregem). Been a few times since, always at night, and honestly... I feel spoiled. It's clean, bright, and I pretty much get free rein of the machines. The equipment's in great shape, and best of all--no herds of gym rats camping on benches while binge-watching TikToks. Apparently, AF being a step above the bargain gyms also means people here actually work out instead of practicing their best "phone stare" routine. So far, I'm impressed--will report back in a few months!
