But this year I wanted to indulge and enjoy some food at the fair as part of the whole experience. After seeing so many folks walking around with overflowing buckets and cups of cookies, I decided I wanted Sweet Martha's! The large booth was essentially swarmed with fair-goers, with at least a dozen separate lines leading to cashiers. We selected one of them and it moved along fairly spritely. The yellow-shirted employees were working quickly in tandem to replace the cookies being served. The employee who took my order was friendly and in a good mood. My cookies were soft and warm to the touch, stuffed with gooey chocolate chunks... super sweet, rich, and yummy. It's a good thing I got a cup of milk with them. I ate four and saved the rest to bring home to eat later and share with my husband. Next fair trip I'll likely try something else, but these cookies certainly receive my thumbs up!

I bought the overflowing tub for $20. I watched the girl load it and saw it was missing some on the sides. The cookies were real gooey right out of the oven. She filled the sides and stacked it high. I immediately put the gallon ziploc bag on top and sat at a bench after sharing with my dad and eating a couple. Then I put the excess in the gallon bag and put the cover on top of the container. The sign says you get about 48 cookies. I never counted. I rarely eat or make cookies at home. Even though its so easy. It was a nice treat to share with other family members.

A lot has changed since those early days in Minneapolis, MN but I'll leave that to the history books. These days, cookie butter is having more than a moment, as the dessert spread can now be found in cakes, chocolate bars, and even ice cream. If you're yet to experience cookie butter, imagine that there was a butter analogous to peanut butter, but instead of being made from ground peanuts it's made from ground Biscoff cookies. Cookie Butter is just that and it's as awesome as it sounds. Kemp's takes cinnamon caramel cookie flavored ice cream and swirls it with cinnamon graham and crunchy bits aiming to capture the cookie butter vibe. Beginning with the ice cream itself, I was impressed by just how creamy it was. This was my first time trying a flavor from their "Crafted" collection and I can tell you, it made a difference. The cinnamon flavor is sweet, not burning, and mild enough as to not be overpowering or offensive. Interestingly, I also got cheesecake vibes from the ice cream's flavor, which was only reinforced by the inclusion of graham. My container had a plethora of graham swirls that also contributed some additional texture. It was the crunchy bits that stole the show though as they contrast perfectly with the creamy ice cream base. Only minor complaint is that I think it was a missed opportunity to not have actual cookie butter swirls, but for the price point I shouldn't gripe too much. Cinnamon is a flavor that screams fall to me, making this the perfect flavor for those last days of warmth and golden autumn leaves.
