There are tons of vendors a hayride, a haunted trail, inflatables, games, a cupcake walk where all the kid win,food trucks, live music and much more. I spent a whopping $6.00 today. The vendors hand out candy to the kids, several vendors handed out bottled waters and fans/ huggies, frisbee etc... the inflatables were free, a bank handed out balloons. It's great for all ages and pets are welcome. It's partially wooded and shaded. Lots of kids and adults alike wear costumes but they're not required. We will be back next year for sure! Oh and since a large portion of the trail is gravel break out the big stroller or big wheeled wagon. The umbrella stroller we took ended up being carried more than pushed.

Referees tell me they like these fields when the weather is mild or even wet. You know you can still play the game and it won't be super muddy like grass fields. However, turf absolutely radiates a ton of heat when it's hot and sunny--heck even when it's just warm and sunny. Turf can also be hard on your feet and back if you're out there all day. However, the tournaments that are hosted there are usually run well, and there's plenty of parking. Also nice to be close to the "sister complex" of Liberty Park for tournament weekends. That offers a unique convenience if you've got more than one team to watch.

While this doesn't necessarily affect me, I've heard attendees complain about how the businesses close fairly early and if you're leaving an event in the area, there's nothing to eat or do. I'm not sure what it would take to make this happen, but I think it's worth a try. Regardless, go visit Uptown!

This museum gives a historical account of how Negroes formed their own league in the South and how great they were at playing professionally with very little resources. I was invited to the Negro Southern League Museum's annual celebration as a guest. What a wonderful and heartfelt event. I had the opportunity to meet and admire some of the local players that played in Major League Baseball along with some of Birmingham's public and civic leaders. Although, I've toured the museum before, it was still amazing to see the old uniforms, read about the history of Negroes in baseball and how great they were at a time when they were not being recognized for their greatness! Yes, it was a struggle, but as history has taught us "Greatness" is usually born out of struggle. So, visit the museum, take your family and friends. Most of all take the children, they deserve to learn about how "Greatness" can be born out of struggle. I will continue to go back each year to celebrate America's history of Negroes in baseball.

It is handicap accessible and has an elevator available. There are many restrooms and many places to dine from. Sometimes there are food trucks available on a certain level if you're not wanting the regular stadium food. Parking in the lots on event days costs $20, but unless you get to the venue early, it may be your best option. Also there are restaurants across in Uptown you can eat at before or after your event. Pro Tip: Don't count on the restaurants to be open if your event ends after 10:30ish. Most are closed. Eat before or drive elsewhere.
