Today, my Wolf stove had a pilot light that despite all my best attempts, I could not get to relight. Most importantly, it created a dangerous situation in my home because of the leaking gas. I looked on Yelp, and saw the many 4 and 5-star recommendations for Junior, and called him immediately. When I explained the issue, we has kind enough to make arrangements to be at my home within 2 hours. He arrived on time as planned, called to say he was on his way, and within 30 minutes had diagnosed and corrected the issue. Avoid unless you like going to court. Junior told us we needed a new compressor for our freezer to the tune of $1,800. Not only did we not need that, he screwed up the replacement. Though he agreed to refund us in November 2017, he didn't make good. I eventually had to sue him in small claims court in March 2018 where he was a no-show. Since I had his texts agreeing to refund us, the court found in our favor but I am still waiting for my money. It has been an incredibly aggravating experience. I have used Junior twice, once to fix a Bosch washing machine in March 2020 before the start of the pandemic and another time to repair a GE Profile gas range on Thanksgiving day when we were cooking for 14 people. Unbelievable customer service. I called in a panic at 4pm on a Saturday- a gorgeous Saturday, the first gorgeous day after the miserable winter - with a refrigerator emergency. Not only did they answer the phone, not only did they say they would come same day - they said they'd be there at 6! Traffic was terrible (I knew it was true- I saw it on google maps) and they arrived at 6:43pm. They diagnosed the problem immediately - and didn't have the right part. They had to go all the way back to their warehouse (very far away, through terrible traffic again) and come back. And they did. And fixed the problem in less than 20 minutes. So they busted their hump for 6 hours plus (at least 5pm to 11pm, probably more), on a Saturday night. They honored the original price quote despite having spent probably at least 3x more time on this job than they had expected. AND they were professional, very quick, and friendly. I can be a serious pain in the ass as a customer and they have my highest praise. Though I certainly hope not to need to, I would not hesitate a split second to use them again. read more

Since our first review, Junior has repaired our dryer two more times for different issues and our washer once -- each time he was very responsive and efficient and his repairs were excellent. I've noticed that almost all reviews for Trades Mechanical are either 5 stars or 1 star, with almost none in between. The 1 star reviews are almost all because of unresponsiveness, missed appointments, or some warranty disputes and not for poor repair services. So now I know why. Our dryer once again needed a repair -- the drum kept turning with the door open. This time when I texted Junior for an appointment I got no reply. A second text was answered and I spoke with his assistant, who was supposed to order the appropriate part after I provided the model number of the dryer. I received no follow-up, so I sent Junior a third text about 3 weeks ago. He responded and asked for the model number of the dryer (!!??!). No further response. Meanwhile, the dryer door issue has self-corrected, although it may recur. Either way, based on the 1 star reviews and my current experience, I give up. Since Junior's work is great, I can't bring myself to change my rating to 1 star as others have given, so mine is now a 3 star review -- the average of 5 stars for quality of repair and 1 star for responsiveness. I don't understand the change in Trades Mechanical or how Junior selects which customers to service and which to ignore, but that's not my business. read more

TM Appliance Repair is the best appliance repair out there! My washing machine needed a new drain pump and I needed it fixed quickly! I called TM Appliance on Saturday morning and they were at my house by Saturday evening! :D The technician arrived to my house, I told him what the problem was and he got straight to work. He told me my drain pump had burnt out and he needed to replace it. Luckily, he had a drain pump that fit my machine! After he placed the pump, he checked the water sources to make sure there were no more blockages and put everything back together. I wanted to make sure the machine worked and he waited for the Spin/Drain cycle to finish and everything was as good as new! This was by far, the best experience I have ever had with an appliance repair company! They accept cash and credit cards...so it is super easy to do transactions. Junior's an alright guy can't say we really chatted much, but that's not something I really look for in a repair service. Scheduling wasn't too hard, he's clearly a very busy guy and does his best to show up ASAP. I called on Monday and he originally said he would be able to be in that night, due to heavy traffic though we rescheduled for the next day. Not an issue since I wasn't working at the time. Here's the short of it... I called many other repaid places first that were on my condo's "approved" list. The experience for those other guys was all very similar - they wanted my name, contact info, model of the appliance and to let me know they'll charge a heft fee for someone to come look at it. Highly recommend!!! We had a dryer problem and a refrigerator freezer problem. Without going into too many details, Junior came out to us on a weekend, diagnosed what he believed "could be" the problem with each appliance and quoted us a price for parts and labor. He told me his work is guaranteed (as are the parts), so I agreed to the price and he went on to do the repair. The dryer seemed fixed when he was done and we had to wait and see if the fridge continued having the same problem. I paid him the full amount and he left. A couple days later, BOTH appliances acted up again. I obviously wasn't thrilled about this. I called Junior again and he came out to us the next weekend. He explained that sometimes, repairing an appliance involves a lot of trial and error, as he has zero prior knowledge of OUR appliances and how we use them. Call me gullible (or logical) but I bought this reasoning. I get that there could be different ways to attack a problem, and that it may be a couple tries before he finds out what the actual solution is. Nonetheless, I appreciated that he took the time to explain this to me. Anyway, he would honor his guarantee and try again to resolve the problem. This time, he fixed the dryer and told me that if the fridge problem acted up again in a few days, not to be alarmed. He would then need to order another part (the motherboard) and come install it. Sure enough, two days later, the fridge problem arose once again and I called Junior right away. He drove in again the following weekend with the motherboard. I was somewhat concerned because a motherboard sounds like an expensive part. Maybe it was or maybe it wasn't - I don't know because Junior didn't charge me for it. I just know it has been over a week since he put the motherboard in and our fridge has been running perfectly since. So, while it took him a couple extra tries to fix both my appliances, he did honor his guarantee. He came out to me in Long Island (an area he says he normally doesn't work - check with him beforehand) a total of 3 times and provided us with a new motherboard...without charging me a penny more than his original quote. This is AFTER I paid him the full amount in his initial visit. Kudos to Junior for being a man of his word and getting the job done. He proved to be very reliable, knowledgeable, experienced, as well as being an excellent communicator (an underrated trait for people in the service industry!) Oh, one more word of advice for those thinking of using Trades Mechanical. Have some patience when expecting a callback from them. They're not a huge operation and do not have a secretary or an answering service. I know Junior takes a lot of calls directly himself when he's on the job (he took several each time he visited). I believe this helps keep his expenses down and his prices reasonable. But because of this, sometimes he may not be able to return your call right away. However, he WILL eventually return your call. I experienced this firsthand. At first, I was concerned that he was blowing me off (especially since I paid him already), but found that he was just very busy....and he ALWAYS got back to me. I called to have someone come to fix my refrigerator. The freezer was working but the fridge was no longer cold, and Junior was able to come by that same day in the afternoon. Junior showed up within the 2-hour window he gave me, and with the fan motor part in hand. He was able to diagnose the issue just by my phone description and the model number of my fridge. He checked a few other places, to confirm but ultimately told me that the only thing that it needed was a fan motor replacement. He was able to do that within 30 minutes. Junior was super friendly and knowledgeable. He was willing to let me watch & explained everything thoroughly. He then made sure the fan was working properly and cleaned out the connection between the freezer & fridge to make sure there were no blockages. His fee seemed reasonable, and considering how stressful it was to have a broken fridge, how quickly he was able to come and fix it, where other repair folks either wouldn't get back to me or wanted me to wait several days, it was well worth it. I've been waiting more than a week to have my LG washer/dryer repaired by Junior. Back in January when I first called, Junior arrived to my apartment the same day and replaced my drain pump.
