Same-day visit to determine the problem. Came back with the replace part the next day and fixed it, hassle-free. Junior was friendly, knowledgeable, and went the extra mile to keep the cost manageable. Thanks! read more

I can not tell you what a pleasure it was to deal with two professionals. Junior and Richie came with the part for my range(who does that today) knowing what part was needed by my explanation of my symptoms on what my range was doing over the phone. They were very polite. Explained everything they were doing and did the job and did it well. I would call TM Appliance repair back in a heart beat. Thank you Junior great job read more

Better than buying a new refrigerator! Junior and his asst. came in, knew what was wrong with my fridge fixed it and so far everything is as good as new. Communication was great as was the price. I hope I won't need his services again, but if I do I won't hesitate to give him a call. read more

Really wish I had weighed these other 1 star reviews before going with Trades Mechanical. Jr seems like a nice guy but his repair didn't last - 4 months later the fridge isn't working again and his warranty is completely worthless since he won't actually show up. 3 weeks of "I'll be there tomorrow" and now he won't answer phone or texts. Stay away!!! read more

I used the services of Trades Mechanical for my washer. It accumulated in the water even when turned off -- indication that a valve was shot. The repairman came on a Sunday, a big plus. He replaced the electromechanical valve, which he had brought with him, but in the process he damaged the rubber connector between valve a washer. He told me it was his fault, and that the part would arrive by Tuesday and that I would be called. I did not receive a call back. I did call the firm and was told the part would arrived on Wednesday and that I would be called back. I wasn't, so I called again. Another representative answered and told me the part would arrive in seven days, because it "had to be made to order". This answer was completely unbelievable because a) the washer is a very common Whirlpool model (rebranded by Kenmore), b) if it had to be made to order, it would have taken *way* more than 7 days. Upon my objections, I was told that that they would look into it, and that the part would arrive either Friday or Monday. As usual, I did not receive a call on Friday, but I managed to get it fixed by Saturday. Summing up, my gripes with this firm are two. First: I understand the repairman made a mistake. It can happen. However, the customer care following this mistake was truly unprofessional and bordering on the dishonest (part arriving Tuesday, then Wednesday, then after a week, then Friday... at least, get your story straight!). Secondly, at the end of the service I was told that Trades Mechanical has an "incentive program": write a positive review on Yelp, Google etc. and you will get a 30% discount on future services. Now, ALL sites explicitly ask NOT to do this. For example, Yelp says "Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or the employees". This is what Trades Mechanical did, and this IS certainly dishonest. It explains the positive reviews on Yelp, which in my case led to me choosing them and receive a bad service. Even more succinctly summing up: don't use this service. ----------------------------- P.S. (after receiving the business owner reply): I did not expect a reply to my review, even less so one disputing its factual accuracy. So, for the benefit of future potential clients, here are the detailed facts: --- we did not mislead you about parts arrival *You* told me the part would arrive on Tuesday. I called on Tuesday, and was told the part would arrive on Wednesday, and I would be called back. I *wasn't* called back. So I called, and was told that the part would have to be made to order and would take 5 business days. Upon my remonstrations, I was told they would look into it, and that I would be called back. As of Thursday afternoon, I *wasn't* called back. So I called. The representative told me that she'd look into it and called me back; which she didn't. So I called again, and was told that the part would arrive Friday or Monday; they'd let me know on Friday. Of course they didn't. I called, and was told they'd check and let me know. This time they did, and set the appointment for Saturday. So, in the spirit of being constructive, my two recommendations are: 1) show integrity: i.e., when you commit to do something, do it. If you can't do something, be upfront about it and go back to point 1. 2) be proactive. If something doesn't go according to plan (e.g., for a mistake, and please note that I don't blame you for it) be sure you follow up with your client. --- to compensate for the situation we charge you $230 with no tax so you get about $50 Just so that we are clear here: I didn't make an issue about the pricing, but if we have to, a $30 discount (against the quoted $260 - which have now become $280 because you haven't charged taxes, which is wrong) is a ridiculous compensation for the waste of time and additional cost of cleaning I incurred this week. --- WE DO NAT [sic] ASK FOR 5 STAR Regarding the reviews: asking the client for a review (without specifying the outcome) is fine and legal. Offering a financial reward (30% discount for future services) is *not* fine. It is prosecuted by the FTC and it is possibly illegal. See https://www.yelp-support.com/article/Don-t-Ask-for-Reviews?l=en_US . From that page: "Don't ever offer freebies, discounts, or payment in exchange for reviews" Notice the wording: it doesn't say "positive reviews". If you don't believe me, please consult your lawyer. So, my constructive recommendation about this is 1) stop immediately this "incentive program" 2) tell Yelp and other sites about it, saying you misinterpreted the law, i.e. you had no bad intentions (no "mens rea"). Probably you will pay a price now in terms of cancellations of existing reviews, but will avoid paying a bigger price later (probably suspensions of any review and fines). read more

I put off having my broken dishwasher fixed because I wasn't ready to deal with yet another appliance repair drama. Thankfully, Junior got me over that phobia. He fully explained the needed repair, and what part was needed. Though the holidays slowed down the receipt of the required door-lock mechanism, Junior followed up with me promptly and was here as soon as he could be. In both visits, he was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. I recommend him highly. read more

Get to the Chase: Had an issue with my Bosch washing machine where the cold cycle continuously used boiling hot water Pros: 1) Arrived and finished the job within 1 hour 2) Friendly and efficient job 3) Knew their stuff, no hassle and quite knowledgeable of all products 4) $80 for consultation and diagnosis of issue, with $80 for labor and time to fix the issue Cons: 1) A bit hard to schedule time and was late to the appointment 2) Would have been nice to get the full service price before going ahead and doing everything in one go when I was expecting an $80 initial consultation cost and diagnosis read more

My dryer died yesterday, while a foot of snow was falling, but Junior diagnosed the problem over the phone and arrived first thing this morning. He returned this evening with the part that needed to be replaced. He called before both visits to confirm the appointments and give an E.T.A. My dryer is now in working order. The price was reasonable and Junior threw in general maintenance free of charge. He took the trouble to vacuum the profusion of lint that was, unbeknownst to me, lurking in my dryer and creating a fire hazard. I really thought I'd be schlepping to the laundromat while the part we needed was being shipped. I can't get over the ease and efficiency of this repair. I highly recommend TM Appliance. read more

The rubber seal (bellow) on my Whirlpool Washing Machine WFC7500VW0 ripped so this afternoon I decided to check yelp to see if I could find a repair place. I picked this place because it had great reviews & I got to see why. Junior agreed to come after I got home from work which would be about 7pm. Junior called me at 6:50pm & arrived shortly thereafter. He repaired my washing machine in less then 30 minutes. Junior is very knowledgeable worked extremely fast & is reasonably priced I would highly recommend him to anyone needing repair services. read more

Trades Mechanical - Whirlpool WFC7500VW0 Gray colored seal/bellow replaced - Appliances & Repair Near Me

Unbelievable customer service. I called in a panic at 4pm on a Saturday- a gorgeous Saturday, the first gorgeous day after the miserable winter - with a refrigerator emergency. Not only did they answer the phone, not only did they say they would come same day - they said they'd be there at 6! Traffic was terrible (I knew it was true- I saw it on google maps) and they arrived at 6:43pm. They diagnosed the problem immediately - and didn't have the right part. They had to go all the way back to their warehouse (very far away, through terrible traffic again) and come back. And they did. And fixed the problem in less than 20 minutes. So they busted their hump for 6 hours plus (at least 5pm to 11pm, probably more), on a Saturday night. They honored the original price quote despite having spent probably at least 3x more time on this job than they had expected. AND they were professional, very quick, and friendly. I can be a serious pain in the ass as a customer and they have my highest praise. Though I certainly hope not to need to, I would not hesitate a split second to use them again. read more

Thank you Junior! Call Junior for all of your appliance needs! He is now permanently programmed into my phone. First, Junior is a true professional. He returns calls promptly and keeps you informed about your appointment. He lets you know what is happening with your appliances as he repairs them. His costs are very reasonable. Second he is very hard working individual with a lot of experience and great stories! He also provided me with a 3 month warranty on labor! Definitely call! read more

So thrilled to have found Junior...He has repaired our Miele dishwasher, and put a new condenser fan motor and replaced the ice maker valve in our old Sub Zero fridge. Both are working beautifully. He is reliable, polite, professional and his rates are extremely reasonable. He even returned to finish the job with an extra part on Sunday. Cannot recommend him highly enough.. read more

Prompt honest service, it does not get better than that. I only waited two days for a subzero repair. Fridge was working, no ice maker. Also I love supporting independent business people. Easiest to reach them by text FYI. 718-600-7291 read more

TM Appliance Repair is the best appliance repair out there! My washing machine needed a new drain pump and I needed it fixed quickly! I called TM Appliance on Saturday morning and they were at my house by Saturday evening! :D The technician arrived to my house, I told him what the problem was and he got straight to work. He told me my drain pump had burnt out and he needed to replace it. Luckily, he had a drain pump that fit my machine! After he placed the pump, he checked the water sources to make sure there were no more blockages and put everything back together. I wanted to make sure the machine worked and he waited for the Spin/Drain cycle to finish and everything was as good as new! This was by far, the best experience I have ever had with an appliance repair company! They accept cash and credit cards...so it is super easy to do transactions. All the technicians are extremely qualified, helpful, friendly, and talented! :D read more

Had a kitchen appliance that was not working properly and called TM after reading the reviews. The person I was in contact with is not very good at keeping his customers informed. He came and looked at the appliance and diagnosed the problem. Not having heard back from, I had to keep calling him to for updates. In the end, it took about a month to fix the problem and it wasn't even a cheap fix. Let's just say, I could have replaced the appliance for what I was charged. read more

I should have listened to the other bad reviews. I made an appointment with Junior for 3-5pm and confirmed with him that I left work early and was waiting at my apartment. At 3:05pm he said he was finishing up on a job. He never showed up and never contacted me again. At least I didn't pay his "consultation fee", but I lost a half day of work. STAY AWAY! read more

So to preface, I go by Yelp's designation of the various star-ratings. 5 being 'as good as it gets' 4 'yay I'm a fan' and 3 'A-OK'. T.M. Appliance repair is A-OK, seriously. I have no complaints per se, but I'm not like stoked out of control by the whole experience. Junior's an alright guy can't say we really chatted much, but that's not something I really look for in a repair service. Scheduling wasn't too hard, he's clearly a very busy guy and does his best to show up ASAP. I called on Monday and he originally said he would be able to be in that night, due to heavy traffic though we rescheduled for the next day. Not an issue since I wasn't working at the time. He was extremely efficient and fixed the washer with no issues. Even let me order the part myself on Amazon to save a few bucks. read more

I'm the type of person who is on Yelp at least 5 days a week, but usually never writing reviews. However, I must say that Trades Mechanical was so good I felt compelled to actually login and write this. What more could I add to Trades Mechanical that hasn't already been said? Here's the short of it... I called many other repaid places first that were on my condo's "approved" list. The experience for those other guys was all very similar - they wanted my name, contact info, model of the appliance and to let me know they'll charge a heft fee for someone to come look at it. Trades was refreshing because they were the only true professionals whom seemed actually interested in knowing more about the problem before coming out. They asked many detailed questions and even asked me try a few things before sending someone over. Caring about the customer and actually wanting to diagnose the issues instead of making a quick buck was so refreshing. I will definitely be recommending Trades to everyone. read more

Found TM Appliance on yelp, and booked them based on the reviews. I was not disappointed. The service was quick, reasonably priced, and my refrigerator is now working! I was able to get an appointment for the day after I called. Before the appointment, I looked at some youtube videos about possible refrigerator problems, so when the technician came by, I wouldn't be completely ignorant of how a fridge works. Honest and professional. They accept major credit cards via Paypal, which makes me feel secure. I would definitely recommend for a refrigerator repair. read more

Avoid unless you like going to court. Junior told us we needed a new compressor for our freezer to the tune of $1,800. Not only did we not need that, he screwed up the replacement. Though he agreed to refund us in November 2017, he didn't make good. I eventually had to sue him in small claims court in March 2018 where he was a no-show. Since I had his texts agreeing to refund us, the court found in our favor but I am still waiting for my money. It has been an incredibly aggravating experience. Do yourself a favor, hire a certified technician. It'll be worth the extra money. read more

Highly recommend!!! We had a dryer problem and a refrigerator freezer problem. Without going into too many details, Junior came out to us on a weekend, diagnosed what he believed "could be" the problem with each appliance and quoted us a price for parts and labor. He told me his work is guaranteed (as are the parts), so I agreed to the price and he went on to do the repair. The dryer seemed fixed when he was done and we had to wait and see if the fridge continued having the same problem. I paid him the full amount and he left. A couple days later, BOTH appliances acted up again. I obviously wasn't thrilled about this. I called Junior again and he came out to us the next weekend. He explained that sometimes, repairing an appliance involves a lot of trial and error, as he has zero prior knowledge of OUR appliances and how we use them. Call me gullible (or logical) but I bought this reasoning. I get that there could be different ways to attack a problem, and that it may be a couple tries before he finds out what the actual solution is. Nonetheless, I appreciated that he took the time to explain this to me. Anyway, he would honor his guarantee and try again to resolve the problem. This time, he fixed the dryer and told me that if the fridge problem acted up again in a few days, not to be alarmed. He would then need to order another part (the motherboard) and come install it. Sure enough, two days later, the fridge problem arose once again and I called Junior right away. He drove in again the following weekend with the motherboard. I was somewhat concerned because a motherboard sounds like an expensive part. Maybe it was or maybe it wasn't - I don't know because Junior didn't charge me for it. I just know it has been over a week since he put the motherboard in and our fridge has been running perfectly since. So, while it took him a couple extra tries to fix both my appliances, he did honor his guarantee. He came out to me in Long Island (an area he says he normally doesn't work - check with him beforehand) a total of 3 times and provided us with a new motherboard...without charging me a penny more than his original quote. This is AFTER I paid him the full amount in his initial visit. Kudos to Junior for being a man of his word and getting the job done. He proved to be very reliable, knowledgeable, experienced, as well as being an excellent communicator (an underrated trait for people in the service industry!) Oh, one more word of advice for those thinking of using Trades Mechanical. Have some patience when expecting a callback from them. They're not a huge operation and do not have a secretary or an answering service. I know Junior takes a lot of calls directly himself when he's on the job (he took several each time he visited). I believe this helps keep his expenses down and his prices reasonable. But because of this, sometimes he may not be able to return your call right away. However, he WILL eventually return your call. I experienced this firsthand. At first, I was concerned that he was blowing me off (especially since I paid him already), but found that he was just very busy....and he ALWAYS got back to me. So thank you again, Junior for a job well done. Keep up the good work! read more

Since our first review, Junior has repaired our dryer two more times for different issues and our washer once -- each time he was very responsive and efficient and his repairs were excellent. I've noticed that almost all reviews for Trades Mechanical are either 5 stars or 1 star, with almost none in between. The 1 star reviews are almost all because of unresponsiveness, missed appointments, or some warranty disputes and not for poor repair services. So now I know why. Our dryer once again needed a repair -- the drum kept turning with the door open. This time when I texted Junior for an appointment I got no reply. A second text was answered and I spoke with his assistant, who was supposed to order the appropriate part after I provided the model number of the dryer. I received no follow-up, so I sent Junior a third text about 3 weeks ago. He responded and asked for the model number of the dryer (!!??!). No further response. Meanwhile, the dryer door issue has self-corrected, although it may recur. Either way, based on the 1 star reviews and my current experience, I give up. Since Junior's work is great, I can't bring myself to change my rating to 1 star as others have given, so mine is now a 3 star review -- the average of 5 stars for quality of repair and 1 star for responsiveness. I don't understand the change in Trades Mechanical or how Junior selects which customers to service and which to ignore, but that's not my business. read more

Ok, so, a sock got caught in my washing machine pump. Yes, it's a simple fix...for someone who knows how to do it. The appliance repair tech who my entire family trusted and counted on for the past 30 years, to keep the washers, dryers, stoves and fridges had gone on to greener pastures. We wish you well Robert Myers. Then the yelp reviews for Junior described the qualities that mattered to us, honesty, skillful, fair pricing, prompt (within reason...it's always an estimated time of arrival based on the day's schedule) and available in the evenings and weekends. I called and made an appointment. The sock is out and I've shared his contact information with my family and feel encouraged we once again have a reliable technician to call! read more

Made an appointment, tech came very late. He made a pronouncement that the oven hood was too old and seemed completely disinterested in looking at the ice maker in the refrigerator. Said he'd go back to the office and that the company would get back to us regarding the repairs. We never heard back from them. Guess they didn't want the job. I'm at a loss why they're rated so high. read more

My washer developed a leak and after searching online I found Trades Mechanical. After explaining the issue to Junior, his gracious aide Julie scheduled an appointment for the very next day. Julie called the next day to see if Junior could arrive earlier which was great for me. He diagnosed the problem quickly but needed a part. Julie called again to confirm the cost and appointment for the next day. He brought the part needed the following day and repaired my 25 year old washer quickly, professionally and at a reasonable price. He needed to dismantle the machine so it was not simple but he did an expert job. Julie is very friendly kept in touch at every step. I noticed some people here are saying that reviews for Trades Mechanical are fake. Mine are as real as they come. Both times Junior was awesome. Responsive, knowledgeable, ethical, friendly, effective and fair. I wish there were six or seven stars because I would give him the highest rating possible. read more

I've been waiting more than a week to have my LG washer/dryer repaired by Junior. Back in January when I first called, Junior arrived to my apartment the same day and replaced my drain pump. Now that the pump isn't working and water is coming out of the machine and flooding my kitchen, he keeps telling me he is coming back to fix the problem. It's been more than a week and every day he's suppose to come (at least five appointments) he has another dilemma. I'm still under his six month warranty and it has only been two months. I am so thankful for Trades Mechanical! I came home last night to a dead fridge. They were here an hour later, knew immediately what was wrong, had the part on hand, fixed it within an hour and even did some extra cleaning of the condenser even though that wasn't the main problem. I called to have someone come to fix my refrigerator. The freezer was working but the fridge was no longer cold, and Junior was able to come by that same day in the afternoon. Junior showed up within the 2-hour window he gave me, and with the fan motor part in hand. He was able to diagnose the issue just by my phone description and the model number of my fridge. He checked a few other places, to confirm but ultimately told me that the only thing that it needed was a fan motor replacement. He was able to do that within 30 minutes. Junior was super friendly and knowledgeable. He was willing to let me watch & explained everything thoroughly. He then made sure the fan was working properly and cleaned out the connection between the freezer & fridge to make sure there were no blockages. His fee seemed reasonable, and considering how stressful it was to have a broken fridge, how quickly he was able to come and fix it, where other repair folks either wouldn't get back to me or wanted me to wait several days, it was well worth it. Glad I didn't have to deal with buying a new fridge. All in all, a great experience and I would hire Junior again. read more
