I was driving back up North from SoCal and wanted to go to a Trader Joe's before it got totally dark (since home was further away), and still be able to drive finally home to my destination. My GPS showed me this San Ramon location. I like how it's a breeze going to this branch since there's plenty of parking around this location. The store is clean, spacious, and with appropriate lighting. Staff are friendly and helpful. The cashier who helped me was very kind. They have a great food selection, I even found Brazil nuts. I was disappointed though not to find the peeled almond slivers that I usually buy from TJ's. Not to worry, I still got my regular dark chocolate, Kimbap and flatbread, etc. Thankful to know about this location in case I'll be in the area again. read more

This location seemed to have more options for a variety of tomatoes, onions, and avocados. I have been a loyal TJ's shopper for a while and besides their great quality with reasonably priced items, I very much appreciate their service from all staffs. But today was very different... the cashier I picked was probably the worst TJ's employee I've seen. 1. He never greeted or asked whether I got everything I needed. 2. He was the slowest to scan and bag by using just one hand the majority of the time. 3. He was picking his nose several time as he was handling my groceries. 4. The very first cashier who did not check the egg cartons instead, he asked me if i checked it the proceeded to bag. 5. He would put light items in the bag first such as bread and fresh produce the put heavy items on top which crushed down in the bag. 6. I had all my frozen item gathered together in the cart purposely to be bagged together but he put all my frozen items separately in to differ bags as if it was intentionally. 7. Then he piled my bags into the cart in a way that the bags were crushing underneath. Needless to mention that some of the groceries were n rough shape when I got home. I have worked in grocery store for years and that would be very basic training to learn how to bag groceries. I don't really mind unfriendly behavior but handling peoples groceries in n such careless ways is not so acceptable. What really threw me off I was that this guys is apparently a crew manager said his name tag. I am moving my business to the Danville location. read more

Used to go to this Trader Joe's all the time when I still lived in San Ramon. It's a really good Trader Joe's as well. The parking lot is never horrible, the atmosphere is really comfortable. The employees and service are exactly what you'd expect from Trader Joe's. Outstanding and friendly as well as professional. I also love the size of this store too as it feels bigger in some ways than some of the other ones I've been to. Today I want to show you the plants and flowers they have . It carries big and small house plants , banquets of roses and other flowers . The food it sells are very healthy and organic. Some are from European countries and Asian countries to bring that special food to you . Huge sections of salads , fruits , frozen food and other goodies . Nice cut of beef , chicken and pork . It has a wide selection of wines and beers , plus tea bags and soft drinks . A big snacks section and a big variety for dogs and cats treats ! came in for a quick, last-minute sunscreen run and was blown away by the customer service -- truly top-notch! Other stores and restaurants could learn from how well this team treats their customers. I couldn't find the sunscreen at first, so I headed to the register with some dog treats. The cashier asked if I'd found everything I needed, and when I mentioned the sunscreen, the cashier immediately called someone to help me. While ringing me up, he even asked what kind of dog I have -- it felt so friendly and engaging! Right after, another staff member walked me over to the sunscreen section, helped me choose one, and kindly mentioned that if it didn't work well on my skin, I could return it. Came in and already seen my peonies in all colors! Already knew it was going to be a great shopping trip! Stocked up on my weekly groceries. Was in and out quick. Typical crowd for the weekend. Cashier lines were quick! Only one or two in each line, and a new line opened up as we got in line which was great. Cashier wasn't as talkative but that's okay. Got rung up and bagged up quick. I was in need for two specific items as my local TJ's did not have it the last time I went, so I forgot to drop by the TJ's in Pleasanton so I decided to drop by after work in San Ramon today. I thought I went here before, but perhaps I never have! In short, beautiful, clean, wide aisled well stocked Trader Joe's. With unfortunate parking, but aside from that, I'm going to have to do my side TJ trips here more often! L O C A T I O N I thought Trader Joe's took over the Nob Hill but it actually took over the whole side that used to be several different restaurants and shops including El Balazo. Like I mentioned parking is a mess. There's parking in the side lots which is what I did and walked over. The main lot is also busy so just doing go during lunch or dinner, you're just not going to be happy. I N S I D E I walked in and it was like angels singing. It was bright, clean, and just well organized. The aisles were nice and wide. I felt safe and I can easily walk through without bumping into people. It was kind of amazing. I found everything I needed! I also then ended up adding things that I figured I would also need. S E R V I C E There were many lanes open and I easily got into an empty line and paid. Very quick and easy. O V E R A L L Man...why haven't I found this TJ before?! Why has it taken me this long! I guess I just don't typically go grocery shopping during the week, but now that I know about this place, I'll definitely do my side extra trips here for sure. Definitely check this place out! So I've been to this location since they've opened. It's a hit or miss when it comes to customer service. I don't recall the actual last time I was ever greeted or if a stock person was courteous. I like going here for my usual items and trying new items. This review is for my visit last week. My friend and I came to pick up a few things. And out of all the workers, Derek was helpful and personable. It was a busy evening in the store. When time for check out, he acknowledged us waiting in the other line and flagged us down to help next in line. While scanning items, he even informed me the new items I picked up were really good if I haven't already tried. And he was right! I started coming to Trader Joe's because I noticed that it has very high quality groceries, but at the same time, everything is in smaller portions compare to the ones from Costco.I can buy everything as needed instead of worrying about wasting and groceries expiring all the time. They have plenty of parking, great layout (seems very open) and usually well stocked. The one improvement needed is their plant selection. The conversations I have with the employees are genuine, and it's a ray of sunshine in my hectic days and coming here helps me take a nice deep breath. This location is mainly different from others. Service: Fast service with 5 check stands always available and in use. The cashiers are quick and friendly and know how to multi task very well, with both people skills and bagging at the same time. Products: This location seems to have less variety of dry goods and alcoholic beverages compared to other locations (Danville, Pleasanton, Walnut Creek) as some of my favorite products are not available in this store. Overall, a large parking lot with tons of spaces and fast service so a great place to get some of the household staples, but lacks on specialty items. read more

Trader Joe's is like a treat for me. What I miss since COVID happened are the free samples. I would BUY whatever was being featured and bring it home. One of my favorite things to get here is pizza ingredients. It's a family favorite and there's something therapeutic about rolling pizza dough. Review for the employees. Been pondering writing this review for over 6 months. We have been coming to this Trader Joe's for about two years. At first, I thought it was just a few employees who lacked basic manners, or who were just rude. Now, I can concur it is literally every employee I have ever come into contact with. At least two times each time I visit the store (often times more) an employee has bumped into me, bump into my cart, cut me off in the frozen food section, step in front of me in the produce section, etc. While the employees are obviously working and keeping the store moving, I would understand. But NOT ONCE has a single employee acknowledged me. ZERO times has an employee said "Sorry" or "Excuse me." It's mind blowing shopping at the San Ramon Trader Joe's. It almost seems a prerequisite to work here is to have zero human interaction skills, as well as lack any type of basic manners. This is the worst grocery store staff I've ever encountered. Trader Joe's used to pride themselves on how friendly their employees were. This location is exactly the opposite. Tonight was the breaking point. As I was trying to look in the frozen section, an employee bumped into me, causing me to move to the side, at which point he proceeded to stock the frozen section. As I tried to move around him, a second employee stepped into to help stock the freezer. Again, this employee completely prohibited my ability to move towards the other section of the aisle. Again, zero manners. Neither employee acknowledged my existence, let alone apologized for completely forcing me from grabbing the items I was looking at. Then for the grand finale, the checkout employee. I've probably shopped at this Trader Joe's 30 times. I've bagged my own (large orders) approximately 28 times. I try to help because it is blatantly obvious how busy the store gets. Out of those 28 times bagging for the checkout employees, I have been thanked one time. No exaggeration, one time. It's easy for me to remember because when it happened, I was astonished that it came out of the employees mouth. As I waited in line (2 people ifo me), I noticed the checkout employee was taking a really long time with very small purchases. Well, the absolutely disgusting reason she was taking so long was because she was taking time in between each item she scanned to play with her two-inch fake nails. Digging in them, picking at them. Nice to see from someone who is dealing with your produce. As I got to my time to checkout, I helped bag. The woman refused to even pass me the items. Instead, she would scan the item and leave it just past the scanner so I had to reach across the table to grab them. As she scanned, she continued to stop and pick her nails. This was enough to make me want to leave my items and walk out. Unfortunately I had no other time to shop. Finally after the woman scraped everything she could out of her nails, she finally completed my order. At no point did this woman even think of bagging a single item. I paid and you guessed it, no "Thank you." The business model of this specific Trader Joe's needs some serious improvement. This was the last time I will ever shop at this location. read more

Sometimes you go outside with a heavy spirit but errands must be completed. Trader Joe's in a different city used to be my debrief time after therapy. Well today, was a different debrief time but I was intentionally doing my grocery shopping on this day to help feel accomplished despite, life. I hear some people complain about "small" talk in ride shares and grocery stores...I never mind because you never know what people need, respectful engagement is easy to offer. Today, I actually needed and was happy to engage in "small" talk Thank you to the grocery clerk that inquired deeper, but still small. I appreciate your heart! I think Alex was their name. I intended to post this yesterday when their name was fresh on my mind. But clearly their impact has outlasted their name...and so it should be! My only regret is that I didn't inquire deeper when I heard an elder saying they needed to check the naan before selecting. Quick take: Thank you Trader Joe's staff! Out of all the grocery stores I believe Trader Joe's has the best protocol during this difficult time. TJ's is limiting the amount of customers inside the store. It's an even flow of customers exiting and entering the store. The line moves pretty fast. I see staff members spraying down and wiping every single returned cart. The carts were parked out in the sun today... I think the sun also kills germs. It's easier to practice social distancing when the amount of customers inside is limited. Also, TJ's is providing paper bags free of charge at this time. This isn't a policy. When at home, Trader Joe's is our supplemental grocery store for unique items or to make up shortages between supermarket runs. On the vacation, Trader Joes means some meal supplies and snacks. On business, it's stuff to munch on in a nearby hotel room. This Trader Joe's was almost across the street from Gayle's and my recent stay at the Residence Inn. Also nearby is City Center, Central Park, and of course the Iron Horse Trail. The store was roomy, with lots of selection (for the hotel room), and with the signature Trader Joe's staff efficiency and professionalism. It's always a good thing to have a nearby Trader Joe's in one's domestic travels. read more

I've always alternated between the Trader Joe's in Pleasanton and Danville, since those are the closest ones in the area. You can't miss this Trader Joe's in the San Ramon shopping center. It's a rather smaller Trader Joe's, but it has all the essentials that you'll need. I was really happy with the organization of the produce and fruits section. I'm definitely still getting used to where everything is placed in this store. There's still an endless selection of pre-made food and frozen aisle sections. I was happy that there were a lot of options for snacKs and drinks as well. It was fun just walking through each aisle to figure the layout of this store. There's also a lot of restaurants and stores in the Marketplace. Once you finally park, you'll have that "I've won" feeling. That is, if you live to tell about it. Service is particularly a stand-out. There's always several people restocking the shelves, and thus, always available to help find something or answer questions. I'm definitely in that upper half percentile who ask (and am a little "pest"-cadarian), "Do you still carry..." or "Can you help me find...". Very satisfying, even for me. Upside: ======= 1.
