Stop it, Trader Joe. You're killing my daddy.

Honestly, we only go to Trader Joe's a couple times a year because the food is simply too hazardous for my health. So after we finished off a couple of yummy pizzas and left MOD (next door) we made our holiday stop. We picked up these very special holiday treats: The Astounding Multi-Flavor Joe-Joe's Pfeffernusse (2 boxs) Fig Bites (Trader Joe's Fig Newton knock offs) Organic Sweet Bread & Butter Pickles (2 jars) Organic Kosher Hot & Spicy Dill Pickle Chips Almond Danish Pastry Chicken Gyoza Potstickers (frozen) Vegetable Spring Rolls (frozen) We could have bought more. We should have brought a wheelbarrow.

4.99 for these beauty's... go spoil someone! And pick up some salted crunchy almond butter for your self while your at it!

As a California native trader Joe's was always a known gem. My small town didnt have one but if we went to a town that did we would stop by for some goodies. I was so happy to find out kalamazoo had gotten a trader Joe's, mostly because they carried soy chorizo. But I've recently discovered their salted crunchy almond butter which is super good, the whole wheat english muffins are also a regularly purchased item. If u need a quick lunch, their sushi crunchy tempura roll is pretty good for super market sushi. Some stuff is totally hit or miss, (didnt like their vegetarian meatballs, or frozen spinach feta pie, or dried mango in the yellow package [there's different dried mango options]) buuut either way it's always fun to peruse their unique items. I would for sure say at least go see for yourself if you would like anything, and try a sample of their coffee or goodies in sampling section by the produce. Pro tip: decent priced flowers! I never purchase flowers or look at prices of flowers but when their sunflowers caught my eye I knew I had to get some for my mom at 4.99 it's pretty much the best 4.99 I've spent.

Tons of pre-made salad and sushi options!

If you're unaware of all six billion reasons why Trader Joe's is the best, do yourself a favor and visit this brand new location. Trader Joe's will transform your shopping experience for the better and make you wonder why you ever cared about brand names. This neighborhood grocery chain specializes in stocking organic, great-tasting, and unique food items at an excellent value. They never have sales because they already sell everything at lowest cost. Almost everything on their shelves boasts the Trader Joe's logo, but loyal brand-buyers needn't worry. TJ's versions are always up to par, if not better than their name-brand counterparts. The only product I ever remember not enjoying from here was their take on Doritos. Trader Joe's carries everything you need from a regular grocery trip plus convenient extras like pre-made salads, frozen meals, vitamins, flowers, and greeting cards. My must-try products are: Shaved Parmesan, Romano & Asiago Cheese Blend, Dark Chocolate Covered Peppermint Joe Joe's, Crispy Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Cookies & Cream Cookie Butter. Most of my favorite products are chocolate, but they do dessert extremely well, okay? In fact, they have practically a whole aisles worth of cookies and chocolate treats. They boast an impressive selection of seasonal items. Around this time, you'll find pumpkin spice everything from coffee to granola, pumpkin butter, and pumpkins in every size. Come Christmastime, the store will be crazy for peppermint. Ever season is an event here, and the new and rotating items are a great reason to keep coming back. Also, their wine selection is huge! They offer a bottle for everyone's budget. Beer drinkers can rejoice too, as this location sells the basics and popular Michigan craft beer in six-packs and singles. It's a smaller selection, but it's only the best stuff. They sell my favorite beer of all time for $1.67 a bottle. Heck yes. I've visited this location twice since it opened two days ago and was impressed with its enthusiastic, friendly employees. I was already a fan of the chain, but I'm knocking this rating down to four stars for two reasons. First, they were sold out of a product I specifically made the trip for. I'm hoping they won't run out of items when the hype dies down. Then, a staff member shortchanged me at check out. If I hadn't looked at my receipt to know how much change I should have received, I would have left 7 dollars poorer. Luckily the staff member recognized his mistake after I explained it to him, and we were able to work it out with a manager's help. It's a new location with lots of employees still learning the ropes. They'll get better. Bonus reason to visit: free stickers at checkout! I love stickers and so do your kids probably.

Nice local sign on the wall by the beer (we ARE a craft beer town)

I love Trader Joe's. We have driven up to 6 hours to go to one, and I'm really, really happy that we have one locally here. I am very impressed that the new Trader Joe's in Kalamazoo has so much local art, great staff, and, as always, excellent products. Try the European whole milk yogurt, or the pumpkin spice (which has my favorite spice in it: cardamom). Try the everything bagel spice (on everything - especially good on sauteed green beans), or any of their fresh meal offerings. I swear we go through a ton of their chocolate, including the dark chocolate peanut butter cups. The list is endless, and I always find more by asking people what their favorites are, if we're standing in line. SO very happy to have this close by. YAY!

How did hair go inside a shredded cheese?
    Ann S.

Bought $130 worth of groceries including to-go salad and I found a hair in uncured bacon spinach salad after first bite. Not a good sign for sanitization during the production. Maybe it's not a big deal for other people, but I totally lost my appetite after seeing a hair from my food. I tried to understand and be generous but now I have a trust issue with other prepared items such as sushi, salad, wrap, etc.. I was a loyal customer of Trader Joe's and shopped often for my grocery needs. I won't come back not only Kalamazoo location, will stop shopping from other Trader Joe's locations due to this reason. Pretty sad.

Wow!! First time here and driving up I'm in awe of the outside of the building. It's gorgeous. Plenty of parking in the well maintained parking lot. Not sure when this TJ's was built but it is in perfect condition. A great mural in the window on the outside of the building makes it unique. Walking in it's just as expected; a very clean inside and well stocked shelves, plenty of employees on hand and three sampling's throughout the store. The only issue was not enough shopping carts. It was very busy for a Sunday afternoon but usually there's a ton of carts. I had to wait for one before I shopped. Not long but still waited. First stop was the bathroom and they too were very clean and stocked with soap, paper towels and toilet paper. They had the usual items that I must have like garlic mustard aioli and Everything seasoning along with frozen bags of edamame. But I also found some new items like green dragon hot sauce! Of course I bought it. And watermelon spritzer. It was interesting but not for me. The checkouts were very busy and every lane was open, yet I waited behind two people. Not long because they are very speedy to check people out but I was still surprised by the wait. I wasn't in a hurry and it gave me time to check out some unusual check out lane items. Of course I bought one of their made for that store recycle bags I collect them at every TJ's I go to. I have some great ones. I would love to have this store in my city or any one for that matter great store and def recommend.

You may see him at the Farmer's Market, or running into his neighbor's restaurant, Nonla Burger, for a snack, or being very, very helpful at the store. You can identify him by his HUGE smile and welcoming manner. 2. Fresh meat, of all kinds, Lately, we're really into the tiny cubed bits of beef, for a quick spicy stir fry, but there are also all kinds of sausages, and spiced meat for fajitas, etc. 3. All kinds of tortillas - both corn and wheat. 4. Fresh veggies, including papaya, aloe, tomatillos, avocados, and a slew of hot peppers. 5. Speaking of hot peppers, you'll find a variety of dried ones in front of the meat counter, and on the spice rack. 6. ROASTED PORK every weekend! It's in a blue cooler by the cash register, and you just pick out the bits you want, and have them weighed and sealed up at the meat counter. 7. At the farmer's market stand, get the fresh chips, freshly made salsa, and our favorite, homemade tamales. YUM. Now, I could go on and on (all kinds of canned goods, including Dominican red beans; dried goods; laundry soap; pinatas; and more), but the main thing is that you know you're in an authentic shop when people from that culture shop there. This is clearly a hub for excellent food, supplies, and even medicine from abroad. We go here at least once a week!
