Trader Joe's GNV is small but it's full of good items. It's very clean and the prices are reasonable. I bought a watermelon the other day and it spoiled before I got the chance to cut into it and I was so disappointed, but my money was refunded no questions asked. I like the TJ's newsletters; the circular gives a complete write up about new products in the store or coming soon to the store. Trader Joe's has some of the best tasting foods especially the pink pasta absolutely delicious. I always get the Alfredo pasta, sweet potato gnocchi, fresh eggs and fresh butter. I could go on and on about everything thing I but, it would take to cus I have very long list! I go there at least 2 to 3 times a month so I can get some of that delicious food! I had heard the hype about Trader Joe's for awhile. The decent cheap wine, the Trader Joe's Brand goodies, the overall uniqueness. It didn't disappoint. Went in here on a Sunday evening, it was still quite packed with people but not wall to wall. I had looked up items online before going in and wanted to get those certain items. They didn't have them yet, it might have been because they are brand new. (the smoked salmon caper dip, and the Brie with Truffles) The place feels like you are in a different world, like Trader Joe himself now dictates the universe and you only have his items to choose from, we kinda liked the weirdness of it. It was very much like the Dharma Initiative (for you LOST fans out there)They have amazing prices on their brand of groceries, and an impressive array of gourmet delights. These are the items we grabbed of Trader Joe's Brand: White Bean Hummus- delicious, BUT on the card describing it, it said it had "pine nuts" they were not in the ingredient list, or on top of the hummus itself. 2.99 Pistachios- 5.99 a huge bagful! Slicing Brie-which comes in a 16 ounce log, it was perfectly creamy and only 6.99! Sour Cream-it was sour cream, good and cheap. Parmesan pastry Pups- like the old pigs in a blanket these are a step above, you bake them up nice and crispy I loved them. 4.99 for a dozen. Charles Shaw Chardonnay or the "two buck chuck" which is actually 2.99. It was very light, we made spritzers with it, totally would buy it again. Island Soyaki Sauce- a marinade that has teriyaki plus pineapple flavors. 3.69 for 20 ounce..we used it on Salmon and it was tasty! Black Pepper and sea salt Chips- Thick cut ridged chips-perfect for dips White corn chips- used these with a Mexican layer dip 1.79 a bag Chocolate Lava Cake-comes in a pack of two and you bake it...its decadent and chocolaty and gooey. 3.99 We grabbed some other stuff as well, like tomatoes and onions. which were super cheap. I had so much there I wanted to try, and Everything we grabbed was excellent . The welcoming atmosphere, the guarantee of quality items, and the eclectic assortment of things to try, I am absolutely enamored with this place. Since Trader Joe's is located in butler plaza, I always stop here when I do my grocery shopping. It's not as cheap as Target but definitely a better point price then typical Publix items. Some essentials for me are guacamole, and their 19 cent bananas! Then there's the vibrant assortment of cheeses that dwarfs every other store. Trader Joe's brand seems premium without the premium price. Their toiletries like their tea tree soap and shampoo have become must haves in my bathroom. Almost every time I come here I find something new that I want to try. It's small however so don't count on finding everything you need here. Something that people might not be used to is that Trader Joe's flyer isn't really a deal flyer; the prices don't change from week to week. The flyer just highlights some of their items, but you'll never find bogo here like at Publix; they are proud of the integrity of their prices, which I'm fine with. Finally their service is out of this world! The staff is so kind and ready to help you and it even beats Publix service. You can tell they are a tight community. Honestly this place totally has the island vacation feel, so Trader Joe's is honestly where shopping is an experience. read more

Decided to check out this Trader Joe's while I was in town since I won't be able to get close to the local one that opened for awhile now. I was able to pick up everything on my list except for one thing, which was fine by me. The store was still pretty busy, but it was a Saturday afternoon. Love Love Love! Trader Joes is an amazing, super affordable grocery store. About 90% of the things they carry are store brand and this is how they keep prices down (or so they say of their website). Some things that you will find that are of note; -really great food (I've had very few disappointing food items here), chili spiced mango, coconut chips, cookie butter, naan bread, etc. -really great FROZEN food. The selection is amazing, and if you read the labels you'll recognize everything on it. Try the mochi. -cheap booze My only complaint with Trader Joes is that the meat selection isn't that great. It's not awful but I feel like it pales in comparison to their selections in other areas. Employees are really friendly so go in, shop around, try a few things out. Won't be long before you become a Trader Joes fan! read more

Hmmm...I've been on the fence about Trader Joe's being a staunch supporter of local businesses, but admire their business model. I've found that shopping solely at Citizen;s Co-op, Ward's, and the Farmer's market has made my life much better and felling closer to being in a community. I don't get excited at all to go into the cold sterile environment of a Publix. In general I do not trust corporations. So yeah mixed feelings about Trader Joe's, but imo it's better than having a Whole Foods, which is like the wal-mart of health food stores. And definitely mixed reviews about their choices. Their produce section is tiny...I want fresh foods and it took me literally 20 minutes walking back and forth through the store to figure out that they don't carry (or weren't stocked) with fresh garlic or ginger. Only packaged peeled ones. What kind of grocery store doesn't have fresh garlic? There was an overall lack of fresh seasonal produce that I desired in general, very underwhelming. But if you are looking for packaged foods then this must be heaven for you. If you need a bag of prepared fried rice, pad thai, bibimbap, or hundreds of other frozen packaged foods than you must love this place. Who knows if they are any good. I personally prefer to cook most of my meals. The good thing about Trader Joes is of course their are some items which are just really cheap, like unexpectedly so. I was able to find about 10 items that I was very happy with the price of. Their non freshly made bread selection is impressive. Their wine is impressive. Good selection of dairy and decent selection of vegan items. Although I was hoping for more organic items. I'll probably come here when I'm in the area for those really cheap items. But will definitely stick to my local stores for the most part. read more

I envy the locals because this was a great pit stop en route to a weekend destination. Well-organized store, friendly staff. I mostly shopped the perimeter of the store for fruits, veggies and cheap wine, skipping most of their processed offerings. (The one processed item I got, a pre-made chicken pesto wrap I picked up to eat in the car, had a whopping 800 calories... so I was quickly disabused of the notion that Trader Joes = health food). Each time I am lucky enough to cross paths with this fine establishment I stock up on nonperishables and haul them all the way home. On this last trip I was delighted to obtain seaweed snacks, speculoos cookies and cookie butter, a crate of wine (3 buck Chuck!), coffee, lavender body scrub, shampoo, pumpkin butter, fig butter, lemon curd...oh my goodness, the list goes on and on. No, a lot/most things here are not healthy for you or organic.. and are really no different from some Walmart products.. but, it is cheaper than Walmart in many cases. And the customer service is much, much friendlier and more helpful than most places. Overall, I'm neutral about TJ's. Cheap stuff but Walmart quality. They do have a lot of unique foods you can eat if you're vegetarian like myself. read more

My SoCal transplant of a husband loves Trader Joe's. I don't think I have yet fully realized the amazingness that belongs to Joe the Trader. I have indulged in a few of their specialties like the dark chocolate peanut butter cups or the cookie butter. When we were driving home from a weekend in Tampa, I wanted to drive through G-ville to see my younger brother and indulge my husband in a trip to Trader Joe's. Being that it was a Sunday afternoon, the store was packed. Thankfully with the time change having kicked in, I think it wasn't as crazy as it really could have been. We perused our way throughout the aisles tasting this & trying that while grabbing a few snacks to make it through the week. We couldn't really take full advantage of the shopping trip as we hadn't planned meals for the week and didn't have the energy for a full shopping trip. Trader Joe's is a chain, so there's not much that you can say. Except that I love them. This store is kind of small, so it gets crowded VERY easily. But don't let that stop you. Everything here is very yummy and fresh and SO VERY INEXPENSIVE. I'm a student, so I appreciate things that are cheap. I'm a big big big fan of their frozen foods. The frozen mandarin orange chicken is DELICIOUS and one large bag makes me four meals (feeding one person, but still...at under $5 a bag, it's amazing!) If you're looking for quick meals, this is definitely a great place to go. read more

I shop here for a decent amount of my organic produce, quinoa and pasta. It's reasonably priced for organics and the employees are super friendly. I wish I could do all of my grocery shopping here, but I still have to do additional shopping at Earth Origins to meet the rest of my organic and vegan needs. I only shop here early on Sunday or weekday mornings. Any other time, it gets crazy. I often have my toddler in tow and it's severely aggravating to shop a busy store with a "helper". That's not the store's fault, but if you're a parent, you'll understand what I mean. Keep that in mind if you're taking the kids! read more

Ditto on the "Finally!" We went shortly after this location opened and it was well stocked with the expected friendly and mostly (they're new) knowledgeable employees. The best things about TJ's are the value and selection. You will find things here that you can not get in a grocery store or for a better price. Example: cold cereal is in larger boxes (not big box store size, just bigger) at prices lower then the large, regular grocery store size box; nuts and dried fruits iin packages and prices you won't find elswhere. Great coffee, great prices. I could go on and on. We are 1.5 hours away so we're hoping for a First Coast store soon, please. If you eat food and need to take a short road trip, you must check this place out. If you are single, you will love the selection. If you are a parent, you will love the "junk food". read more

Trader Joe's never seems to disappoint. Although it's a bit of a bummer that there is so much traffic in the plaza, it's worth it if you make a trip early in the morning. Also this means less traffic in the store which makes it a more enjoyable experience. TJ's always offers a small sample of their featured coffee blend in the back of the store, providing customers with a little boost while shopping. I don't come out to Trader Joe's for my everyday shopping, but there are a few staples that I always stock up on. Five things that are always on my shopping list: Brioche (perfect to make french toast with), frozen hash browns, frozen chicken tikka meals, cane sugar, and of course mint chip ice cream. Not your only grocery store since they don't carry everything under the sun but trader joes has tons of produce fresh breads and hard to find foods mostly private label so there are a lot of bargains I be had. There private label beer is terrible but the $3 a bottle house wine is pretty solid. My favorite items are the Indian food items that you don't see anywhere else. read more

A lot of hype about Trader Joe's coming to town and I can't say I'm disappointed. The wine is surprisingly ok for being so cheap. I wish this was around during my phase where I drank a bottle of wine every day or two. It's palatable enough to drink on a regular basis, you won't feel bad if company drinks all your wine, but you may want something better for special occasions. There's definitely a nice selection in the frozen foods that I'll try out in the future. There's a nice selection of deli meats that you can't find at Publix and don't want to pay a fortune for at Fresh Market. It's pretty much right inbetween Publix and Fresh Market. I'll go to Traders for some select items, but it won't be a regular stop like Publix (and not just because I live across town). I will note that on the prices, not everything is cheap. Only Trader's brand is reasonable or cheap. It's obviously their ploy to push their own product by jacking up the prices on name brand, which makes me question why they even carry products that aren't Trader Joe's brand. I am so happy that TJs has joined the Gainesville community. It has great options throughout the store, and I always find something new to buy everytime I go in. Everything I decide to purchase and try at home is awesome. I personally love the better for you guacamole, the corn salsa, the large packages of nuts and trail mix, the almond milk, and of course the cheap wine. They also have a great selection of a little more expensive wine and beer options. I buy produce and meat here to as to avoid having to go to another grocery store. The store is always very clean and well stocked. I love the samples they provide at the back of the store, and if you want to try anything else, just ask! This location is in Tampa. Last time I went to a TJ's was in VA and years ago. With that said, this location is not impressive at all. The location is on a corner with a back parking lot. It's tiny and hard to navigate Ina bd out of small parking places. It's crowded and the flow is horrible. Inside was congested. A lot of stuff all over the place. The food was okay but nothing spectacular like I remembered from years ago. I remember finding rather unique things in there but not this time. I won't be making the trip again to go back. For some people I'm sure it's a great place and if you're all natural, organic and so on it would be a good place. However for just regular groceries I didn't find it to be. And as I mentioned the uniqueness wasn't there. Online has more to offer than this location. read more

I used to shop mainly at Publix but I've become a TJs fan since moving to Gainesville. I have had a few things spoil early but that's because most of their items are preservative free and I probably didn't keep a point to store them correctly. Organic fresh and frozen fruits and veggies are very competitively priced. I've noticed A LOT of their items are imported. I've had amazing customer service from the workers there. Sometimes what I want is not stocked but being the only TJs in town and being in a high traffic shopping center I can understand. I believe their DC is far so it affects availability to the store, which should change as soon as FL gets a DC. I love the veggies, cheeses, most of the Spanish/Mexican and Italian items, the addictive snacks, and my dog appreciates the dog treats. Wasn't too big of a fan of most of TJs Asian items. I've seen many customers partake in their inexpensive wines and my BFF plans on using their wine for her wedding reception. Overall, neat grocery where you can get a great deal but don't go overboard! They are realllly busy on the weekends. I'm talking about bumper to bumper carts and barely any parking. Very friendly staff and a good selection of yummy and healthy foods at reasonable prices. I especially like some of the frozen foods for when I feel like being a bit lazy but still want to eat something reasonably healthy. The frozen quinoa, kale, and sweet potato pilaf and the country potatoes with haricots verts and wild mushrooms are current favs. Also, I actually walked into this store once and asked the following of a staff member: "I don't really drink and I know nothing about wine, but I'm looking for something that is cheap and doesn't taste disgusting. Also one time I drank wine and broke out in hives. Any suggestions?" Miraculously, she did not laugh me out of the store, and in fact she was very helpful and helped me choose a suitable selection. Today I went in to buy my mom flowers and a card (which were literally so cheap for quality flowers) and as I was checking out the gentlemen asked whose birthday it was and as soon as I said, "my mom's!"
