this is a pretty nice Publix. I've been to a bunch of them in Florida Georgia, etc. and I would say this is one of the bigger ones. They have a really good childcare department caring a lot of the formulas which is really nice. The pro department is nice and when I went there at the bakery department was extremely helpful. it's very large and spacious as well and extremely clean from when I went. Weirdly enough the parking lot has large parking spots, which is nice. The prices are normal for any Publix. Oh boy, I went to this Publix in times of coronavirus. Since I went to pick up my son at Gainesville to bring him back to Miami I decided to do my grocery shopping at this Publix. It was a great idea because it wasn't that crowded like the ones in Miami. They took coronavirus seriously and they have a line with that space for distance between each customer. No one can go in unless one of their staff let us in. Once you're in they were announcing every now and then to please keep distance between us, The customers. Prices were great as usual and I could find everything I wanted. There were some stuff that they had the sign where it says no more than two per customer which I think it was fair. I stopped by this Publix to get a few things I ended up leaving the store without making a single purchase. The lines were too long. The store was poorly staffed. The manager was standing there talking to someone. He did nothing to improve service at the registers despite the back up. The clerks were apologizing to the customers in line. It was a joke... This review is about the pharmacy. They have no idea what they are doing! I received a flu shot today and blood started dripping down my arm. Tonight as I change the bandage the cotton ball is soaked with blood. I spoke with my doctor today, and it sounds like the guy at publix hit a vein. Not worth ever using this pharmacy again. My work brings me to Gainesville often, putting me up into a nearby hotel that is lucky enough to be near a publix. I walk there most of time because of the convenience and very good food . I'm very pleased with what they offer and how well they maintain the store as well as the very friendly staff that has helped me on several occasions. This morning, I preordered lunch to be delivered because I have to be back at the airport soon and didnt have time to walk to the market. I went to the Publix Liquor Store today 5/18/22 at approximately 2:00pm. I was with my two granddaughters 16 and 21. We was there for approximately 20 minutes. I was looking for flavored vodka. The worker was noI asked why would they have to show ID? She very rudely told me that ANYONE that comes in to the store has to show ID. I told her I had never heard of such a thing? She "again rudely" told me well that is the law in Gainesville, FL! Which is a lie. I shoved the order across to her and said you just lost a sale. That was a $50 sale Publix. You not only lost THAT sale but I will NEVER shop in a Publix store again. I will have this review on all of my social pages as well as other google sights. I am a 74 year old senior! Did she SERIOUSLY think I was buying alcohol for my granddaughters??? She was the terrible rude and nasty. She was from the time we entered the store. She did not seem to want anyone there. In Florida I feel it is imperative to purchase Florida citrus, green beans and tomatoes. Whole Foods had none of these today, instead citrus from California and beans from Guatemala. Publix had what I wanted and easy in and out! read more

This review is strictly for their pharmacy. The pharmacist was rude and whiny, and proceeded to give me a sob story about how he was there from 730 in the morning and I was going to make him stay 10 mins extra without pay, since I arrived 15 before the pharmacy closed. This was highly unprofessional, as my medications were vital, and I had just gotten all four of my wisdom teeth out and was swollen and in pain. For him to complain about staying an extra bit is ridiculous. I even tried to be nice about it and apologized but he continued to try to convince me to wait, even though I was using all my energy to not scream out in pain. I will never ever go back here again. read more

First off Publix is my favorite restaurant chain in Florida with Trader Joe's now a close second. This Publix is my favorite Publix I have shopped at. The produce is always fresh and reasonably priced. Some products are a little more expensive than elsewhere, but if you know how to shop the BOGO free deals and use their store coupons as well as online store coupons you can shop at better rates than almost anywhere else. I will pay a little more for good service, good products, and a clean store. The workers are always friendly and helpful. Here are a few examples of their excellent customer service: I was buying my groceries and the bag boy just took off. I asked the cashier what he was doing and she said he saw that my orange juice lid had came off and was going to get me another one. When the new Lay's Potato chip competition flavors came out this last year I was buying a bag in line and the cashier started talking to me about the new flavors. He told me the manager had opened each of the bags in the break room for the staff to try. At that time the manager walked out of the break room and the cashier asked if there was any left. He said yes and offered to let me try the other flavors. They give refunds no questions asked. The girl who cooks the daily recipes and gives out samples is always extra nice and helpful. read more

This is one of the nicest chain grocery stores / supermarkets in Gainesville. It's large, approximately 67,000 square feet, well lit and very clean. There's a large wine selection and a huge GreenWise section. And it's right next to Target. Also, there's a Pharmacy and a Liquor Store. read more

This is Publix. Nothing is going to be super cheap except their specials. I like that this store is very clean and well lit. This to me is very important for a grocery store because who wants to buy groceries from a dirty store. The quality of the produce is great, better than any other grocery that I have found in Gainesville. Once you get to the canned, boxed or bagged (I like to call this the middle of the grocery store) foods, the prices get to be too much for my liking. I don't like to have to go broke just so that I can cook a few good meals. The meats at Publix are expensive and are not that great of quality. I love my meat, but Publix doesn't have very good meat for the price. It is better than some over the other grocery stores around but not the best. I will say that the convenience of Publix is awesome. There seems to be a Publix everywhere you turn. The best way to save money here is to buy the "Buy One, Get One" items. Often you can't beat these deals. In summary, I love the produce and convenience but will otherwise shop elsewhere. read more

A stellar Publix is what this is. They have great service and a very good selection of items to choose from. The store is clean and bright. The bakery is tantalizing and the deli is too. Went to get a 20 piece of chicken had to wait almost 2 hours for it. We got to Public at 1:30 to dodge the lunch rush. Originally I was told the wait would be 30 minutes and that she was putting the chicken in the fryer as we spoke. I came back after 45 minutes and was told it was not ready. Sadly I watched them take out chicken tenders instead. After waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes the same lady notified me she put the chicken for the 20 piece box in the fryer. After waiting almost 2 hours she notified me that it's usual to wait so long with large orders. Lastly she proceeded to give me Publix's number and told me," Please call at least an hour or two a head of time they can't handle party orders with out notice." I used to Love Publix but they seem to be getting more expensive every week! I am actively seeking a cheaper grocery store. I am writing this review in hopes that they realize that they did not lose business to the more expensive Trader Joe's. When it comes to name brand products I would shop here over their competitors any day, but when it comes to perishables ie produce and meats not so much.... Even w/ help from the staff I have not had the best experiences with their produce.. Other than that, it is okay... My only bad experience I have had at Publix was at this location. I showed up at around 11:00 am on a Monday morning to pick up some fresh bread from the bakery. I asked for three kinds of breads (whole wheat mountain bread, five grain bread, or any other whole wheat bread) and none of them were available. I was told they would be available after 1:00 p.m. I asked if it was because they ran out or just hadn't baked them yet, and they said they hadn't baked them yet. That seems ridiculous that you have to wait until the afternoon to purchase bread from the bakery. Also, employees there were unwilling to help me locate items. They did not even know where the peanut butter and jelly was. Lastly, this was the first time I was not greeted or thanked at the cash register when visiting publix. I had a very unpleasant experience and will not be returning to this location. read more
