I just tried out Aldi for the first time in years due to various recommendations on the internet and I'll start with this, the prices ARE as good as everyone says. To compare I usually shop at Trader Joe's and sometimes Publix, Publix is only when I'm grabbing a few things since we all know it's expensive. Comparable in prices to Trader Joe's but still overall cheaper and I appreciate that. The customer service is okay, and I wouldn't go further than that, you aren't greeted, you can't really find anyone for questions, and there's at max one person in working a register with all other registers being self check out. The store was very clean and everything was pretty easy to find. Super cheap wine options, hopefully they don't taste as cheap as they are lol. Overall, I'd say this is an amazing store for families, it won't break the bank. however, I'll likely end up going to both Trader Joe's getting only some things at Aldi in the future since you just can't beat Trader Joe's creative cultural options and super friendly customer service. read more

I went to the Aldi down in Butler Plaza recently. It is similar to all the other Aldi's I have ever been in, with their carts that require a quarter to use (a system that I approve of, really) and their odd brands that come and go like leaves on the wind. The store was clean, and they had two registers up and running which was nice. Produce at Aldi can be somewhat hit and miss, so be careful in what you pick out. They can have good cheeses at Aldi as well, but they were missing the soft cheeses that I was looking for at this one. Ah well. We picked up a couple of things that were useful for us, but I consider Aldi to be a store that you go to prior to going to one of the larger grocery stores, as it doesn't really have a complete inventory that you can rely on. read more

Horrible customer service. The employees there don't offer help you have to ask for it. The employed reluctantly helped me.. The manager said you got the service you asked for. I actually didn't get the service I asked for because I was given terrible, horrible service. She contributed it to it. In a neighborhood, Middleburg, FL, that abounds with older people that often need help at the checkout with packing their groceries, this is NOT a store for you. This store is turning a good community store into a store that older folks will now have to drive longer distances to shop and receive the support that they need from a full service grocery store. I am sorry to see a full service market closing down in this community to be taken over by what can be called a dollar store with many inedible and distasteful items from China. Electric carts for the elderly and handicapped will not be available and you will have to provide your own bags or pay for bags for your groceries. The customer service here pretty much sucks but I'm not shopping here for that. I love Aldis prices. Their organic prices are way cheaper than Publix. Also when u see something seasonal and or fresh/perishable for a great price don't hesitate to get it cuz if your counting on next time it being there it won't be. Also they have cookies there that are basically off brand Girl Scout cookies (thin mints, Samoa's, peanut butter). This is my best advice. read more

Our family absolutely loves ALDI I didn't know much about ALDI. I always thought they were a lower brand food store similar to Save-A-Lot. But, oh no. They are what I would say is more of a higher end cost savings food store similar to Publix who also has their own Publix branded items. ALDI's has the same, making their own brand of crackers, frozen items, etc. They don't have specialty items you might need for unique recipes, but do have a excellent choice of breads, crackers, cheeses, meats and frozen foods. Much smaller selection in for produce. They're Asparagus is always inexpensive, along with many other produce items. I don't like their berry selection and prices, but that's the only downside I can see. I love their blue cheese crumbles which cost $1.99 for a good size container, the taste is very smooth. We tried their Appleton branded spiral ham for this last Christmas, which is always $1 lb less expensive than Publix. It was excellent, not salty, wonder cut and taste. We love their Appleton branded bacon and other meats. I think you'll be happy. We always joke when we are checking out of Lucky's and now ALDI, how much food we can get for our family $$, how far our $$ go. Its great to be able to buy the same items, which are quality self brands, which we feel are better quality than Publix self branded items. Not sure if their being a German company helps with their selection of quality produces. We love ALDI and are so happy we have two new locaitons in Gainesville. We shop at the Bulter one and love it. I love Aldi, but find that this one is MUCH busier than the location on 13th street. You will run into a lot more students here, so shelves are sometimes out of certain items, and checkout lines can be longer. Like always, they have basic groceries, with amazing seasonal items. Would not recommend buying produce too far in advance, because it does seem to go bad sooner. Love their Aldi guarantee that if you try something and do not like it or it was bad, you can bring it back for your money back and a replacement of the item you purchased. I did this once with a bag of chips, was excited to try them, came home, opened my salsa, and the chips tasted terrible. So much for me trying to be healthy and get the all organic ones, next time at the store I brought the chips back, they refunded my money and asked if I'd like to grab another bag off the shelf in maybe a different flavor. I did, and chose the blue corn tortilla chips, and they are now my new favorite and go to chip! They even taste great without salsa. read more

Is everything cheap here? Yes but, you get what you pay for. Everything taste bland compared to their name brand counterparts. Also their is zero customer service as all the employees are too busy stocking when the store is open to help customers. I've only been acknowledged once out of all the times I've been here. All of my friends know that I am absolutely OBSESSED with Aldi. I do essentially all of my grocery shopping here (with the exception of Greek yogurt of which I am just picky and like a certain brand) and no other grocery store compares to this price point. For reference, I am a graduate student with a grocery budget of about $200/month (although I average about $150-175) and I eat out about once a week. I am able to buy all the groceries I want at Aldi, stay well within my budget, and eat WELL. Aldi is a German discount supermarket chain that advertises itself with the motto, "Quality Food. Everyday Low Prices." It is without a doubt 100% true. My typical weekly produce purchases include spinach, strawberries, bell peppers, avocados, mushrooms, and some sort of citrus like oranges or lemons. The price points here are unreal. Where else can you get avocados consistently for under 75 cents? The strawberries and blueberries average around $3 but this week the strawberries were on sale for $1.29. Where else will you find that?? WHERE ELSE?? I'll tell you where: NOWHERE ELSE. I also buy chicken breast here and usually get the family pack of 4 large chicken breasts for about $9-10. I don't go through a lot of meat so this tends to last me 3-4 weeks since I freeze what I don't cook immediately. What is my average weekly grocery bill, you may ask? It usually averages about $35, but can range between $35-50 depending on if I run out of pantry staples like brown rice, quinoa, or even chicken breast. I love to cook and I guarantee that if I were to buy what I buy at Aldi at Publix instead, I would be spending at least double. They are a "no frills" grocery store, which is probably how they keep their prices so low. If you want to use a cart, you have to put a quarter into a slot on the handle to release it from a chain connected to the rest of the carts. You get the quarter back when you put the cart back. Honestly this is a smart idea so that employees don't waste their time putting back carts from the parking lot. They also do not use plastic bags; they sell reusable bags at a very low cost (I think about 9 cents per bag) or you can bring your own. They also sell a lot of their own brand items, of which my favorites are Fit&Active and Simply Nature. Oh, and when you walk into the store you immediately see the snack aisle and wine selection. This is a genius store layout because that's how they get you to spend extra money: the impulse buys due to snack and alcohol cravings, haha! Some of my favorite Aldi brand products include: -A nut and cheese snack pack. I don't remember the name but you basically get a pack of 3 for like $3. -Winking Owl wine. Each bottle is $2.99!! Now, before you all start hating on me do not knock it until you try it. They recently started selling a sangria that is on point!! -Fit&Active whole wheat tortillas and whole wheat bread. These taste great and have a great amount of protein. If you've gotten to the end of this review, you're probably judging my intense love for this grocery store. But I have no shame. Before this location came I prayed Gainesville would get an Aldi. The prices are unbeatable. The produce can be hit or miss, but when it's good it's amazing. I buy all of my staple pantry items here. It's also close to a Publix and Walmart, so if it doesn't have exactly what you are looking for there are other options nearby. For example there aren't any baskets to carry items and in order to unlock one of the gigantic store carts you'll have to have a quarter on hand at all times. I absolutely love this supermarket. Why? As a poor and struggling college student who loves to cook way too much and enjoys the finer things in life, I assert myself to good deals. I love great deals and you can't get better than Aldi. You're not even sacrificing quality either for dramatic reduction in price. Beef is fairly the same and as is pork. Chicken on the other hand is be found at a ridiculously great price, as can cheese and produce. They have many of their own speciality items ranging from personal items to kitchen utensils that are highly reliable and effective. I once bought a sushi knife here for $15 and continue to use it today. It's sharp and has done the job on more than one occasion. They have less workers in order to produce more profit and cut costs. In what shape and forms is this accomplished? Instead of having cart pushers, they have an incentives type device installed on all their carts. You push a quarter in and the cart unlocks, you get your quarter back once you return the cart and lock it back up. It's genius to be honest. Also in order to save on paper and plastic bags, they promote the use of tote bags to ensure a eco-friendly environment. There are probably other things I haven't caught with my eye, but these are the main qualms I've noticed and I acknowledge them highly for. Is it the perfect supermarket? No, but it suits all my shopping needs except for the limited selection on Asian goods such as vegetables. Overall, I love Aldi as a supermarket because not only does it save me money and keeps a decent food quality, but also contains a decent variety of generalized goods and produce. read more

Today was my first time visiting Aldi, people here in Gainesville always talk about this store & it is first hand AMAZING! I was a little confused at first, but wow the prices here are awesome! When you first get there the shopping carts outside, cost 25 cents to use, but you get your quarter back when you leave!! Also, bring your own bags!! They have reusable ones at the register but it would be tiring to purchase them every trip! My best suggestion is to visit in the morning when the truck get there (they come everyday) Very inexpensive, food is also very good :-) read more

I love Aldi! I'm on SNAP and it has really helped me keep within my food budget. I mostly shop the specials, but I also love some of their everyday items, like their cheeses and frozen fruits. I've found one or two items I was not crazy about, or that I could get a better price on at WalMart, but overall, it's where I do most of my shopping. The employees at this store are helpful and courteous. If you can't find anyone to help you, just ask the cashier, and they will call someone out for you. It's walking distance to my house, and close to a bus stop, so it's easy to shop at without a car. It's also close to several other grocery stores, including Super WalMart two blocks away, so you can get everything you need in a small area without having to drive all over town. read more

I went to ALDI today for the first time. Someone had given me a $5 coupon so I decided to go. I was prepared a head of time to bring my own reusable bags and know that I would also have to pay for a cart. I was just going in to see what was available so I didn't get a cart and put my items in my reusable bag as I shopped. I think their prices were very comparable and low. I got a bag of salad for $1.89 and that's the lowest I have seen. I left paying only $20 and purchased several items to supplement my grocery haul. I was surprised to see they sold other products like pillows, printers, and coolers. The store was small and their options limited but I prefer that if it means the prices are low. I also noticed a lot of things were labeled as organic which was appreciated. I will definitely go back! read more

I have mixed reviews about this Aldi grocery store. If you haven't been to an Aldi, you're in for a much different shopping experience than you're probably used to. The top benefit of shopping at Aldi is the incredibly low prices. Their prices are much lower than much of their competition. The reason I gave this store less than five starts is because of the lack of customer service at the store. I didn't have bad service, I jus trident really have any service at all. When I needed assistance, no employees were anywhere to be found except at the register. Furthermore, I feel like people who have never shopped at Aldi would be confused upon arrival when they find out that they need a quarter to get a shopping cats and that they need to bring their own bags. I know they have good reasons for these practices, but I feel like they should work towards getting signage up to better inform people about how the grocery store works and why they do what they do. read more

No frills super market chain with self service carts and bring your own bags. Great store to get most of your staple items at a significant savings over other grocery stores. We tried a lot of their "generic" store brand items and most are wonderful and a fraction of the name brand price. If you need a whole shelf of salad dressing to choose from Aldi wont be for you. Cant speak for their meat dept but the produce for the most part is very good and inexpensive. They also have two aisles of seasonal non grocery items so you can find deals. Last week I saw a lawnmower for $60 This past week I purchased a fiberglass picnic table for $30. Store is run bare bones so typically 2 or 3 employees are running the whole operation . They also pay better than most of the local retailers so another reason to support them. read more

This is the most amazing place. I had not shopped at Aldi until COVID. But it is part of the Instacart lineup. They have amazing produce and meat and toilet paper and navy beans. I was looking everywhere for toilet paper and navy beans. On amazon if you can find them each roll is 2$ and each pound of beans is 9$. It's a typical Aldi store. This one is on the small side. Noticed the couple of times there the tomatoes had (very noticeable) mold on them. Pass on their ice cream brand. Not good. Loved how they had German sausages on this visit. I highly recommend them over any other American brand. (Lived in Germany for 3yrs) Just sad it said seasonal. The store is a good place for your canned veggies and have a good selection of different ones. Chips, crackers and cookies are generic brands but good and cheaper. Don't forget your grocery bags (you bag yourself and if you don't bring, they have bags for you to buy). same as in Germany. Should you want $avings, this is the place. Should you want a large selection, it is not. This 17,000 sq ft business is great for those on a buget or who simply like deals. Owners describe this chain as "the leading global discount supermarket;" it currently operates in 18 countries. ALDI carries the basics in groceries, but also carries a few misc extras: home wares, etc. such as vacuums, crockpots, beach chairs, toys, gardening needs & baby needs. There isn't a lot choice w/ regard to those items, but nevertheless they are avaliable at low prices (i.e. a large, stainless steel crockpot was $20). Many of the grocery items are actual ALDI products distributed from Illinois. The company itself is German. If you like European cookies/biscuits, this place is a must. Come prepared w/ your own bags or plan to purchase recycled bags on site. A cart will cost you 25 cents, but your quarter (quarters only) will be returned to you upon placement of the cart back in the secured area. Unfortunately, this business has yet to post instructions on how to get & return a cart using this automated system. (Three shoppers each struggled w/ attaining a cart before I could grab mine.) ALDI offers a "double guarantee" on all its food products if returned w/ the orginal packaging. There are very limited organics (see pic) & I saw no vegan offerings, but I could have missed them. Prices were VERY good on everything I looked at, which includes the wine selection. The store was clean, the cashier was friendly, & anyone on a budget might want to check out this business.
