My go to spot for grocery shopping! The inventory is plentiful and I can pretty much find all that I need at this store--everything from food, snacks, alcohol (yup that's right), greeting cards, and even plants/succulents. The produce is fresh and they have really amazing products that you can't find anywhere else...speculous ice cream, deep dish chocolate chip cookie, miniature ice cream cones--need I say more?! I also always look forward to fall and christmas season here because they sell products that really get you into the spirit. During the fall, the place is all about pumpkin. You can get cookies, bread, cheesecake, ice cream--you name it--all featuring this fall favorite. And during the holiday season, nothing screams "the most wonderful time of the year" than the mini Christmas trees with ornaments, gingerbread house kits, ugly sweater cookie sets, advent calendars, etc. that are on sale. They not only make great gifts but they're perfect for you and your friends to ring in the holidays. Just keep in mind that the store can get packed during the weekends and after work hours- so plan accordingly. Trader Joes is my 'go to' place for my vegetables, eggs, and fruits. I also like their variety of frozen food available. Beats the boring frozen food aisles at Shaws/Stop n' Shop. It's fun to look all the quirky food packaging they have for their products. With that said, Trader Joes doesn't have the typical brand name products ie. Kraft, Nabisco, Frito Lays appearing on their shelves. It's a bit of a risk trying new products, but hey that's part of the fun in eating right? Only complaint is it's always SO crowded and busy. They've done a better job at widening their aisles after a recent rearrangement of their store but still...too crowded. read more

This is the best Trader Joe's I've been to. TJ's has never been any ~favorite place to shop because usually it's really crowded & ya girl doesn't have 45 min to wait in line to check out. But today when my Apple Pay card kept getting declined, the staff at this TJ was so patient & understanding to me while I ran home to grab my physical debit card & continued to show kindness & understanding when I then proceeded to call my bank in protest at the cash register (it still wasn't working ‍). They even refrigerated my packed up groceries while I figured it out. 10/10 service & I was the b*tch holding up the line!!! It's Christmas time which means TJs has the best selection of Christmas goodies in store. From peppermint bark to ugly sweater cookie kits, TJs has everything you need to throw your festive party. On the off season side, TJs has a good selection of everything you need AND it's exceptionally priced. My all time favorite is their frozen chicken gyoza, microwaveable chicken tikka masala, and Riesling white wine. Or to be completely honest, I've loved everything I've bought from Trader Joe's. It also has a rather large alc selection and fresh produce section. I wish I lived closer since this would for sure be my go to grocery store, but for now I'll still take the trip there every once in a while. Trader Joe's at Coolidge Corner: your neighborhood source for rotten-on-the-shelf produce and lackluster customer service. I'm a big fan of Trader Joe's as a company. I do almost all my shopping there, but this location regularly puts out moldy and rotten produce, and their employees seem miserable compared to the Memorial Drive or Fresh Pond locations. The store "captain," Chuck, is rude to his employees, and some customers, in front of other customers. Trader Joe's has an open return policy, but the managers here make you feel like an inconvenience for bringing back a package of spoiled food. I always try to go to another location when I can, even though I live a half mile from here. The redeeming quality is that some employees remain friendly, and they have a good selection of beer, wine, and spirits. read more

This is the best TJ's location as far as I am concerned. The other locations I have been to always seem to be out of one thing or another that I am looking for. Generally with TJ's products I have found: Sauces in jars are mediocre. ( pasta sauces, Indian sauces ) Frozen stuff is good. ( Enchiladas, waffles, desserts ) Canned stuff is good. ( soups, black beans, etc ) Boxed stuff is good. ( cereal, pasta ) Salsa's are good. Coffee good, esp. Bay Blend. TJ's brand of Polenta is good and much cheaper than regular grocers, and organic. If you would like to get a gallon of milk , please dont bother to go there, unless you re willing to wait 30min. AT LEAST! Second of all, I just got McIntosh apples from them and attached the pictures here so you will see. They were in the bag so I did not choose one by one. 8 out of 10 apples were ROTTEN and holes on it. Third, they have the WORST ISLES EVER. There is no way to walk without bumping someone.. I love their mints,cereal, water, and chocolate (but that's all I've tried) I don't drink, but my brothers and friends have been raving about their blueberry ale so I'll suggest that as well to everyone out there. Trader Joe's in general is one of my favorite stores, but this location is just too crowded and small to give more than a 3-star rating. They simply cannot keep product on the shelves, and because of the small size of the store, they don't have much extra product in the back either. I've seen employees try to unpack cases of food and customers are literally taking the product faster than the employee can put it on the shelves. The truck comes every night and delivers pallets upon pallets of food, but inevitably many shelves are bare by the next evening. I don't think it's an issue of being more on top of inventory, because there would simply be nowhere to put any more stuff (short of doing 2 deliveries per day). That said, the employees are terrific. There are always plenty of staff members to be found to help locate products (or to politely confirm that they are out). Every checkout line is open most of the time, and lines, though long, go reasonably quickly. I do wish there was an express line for people just running in for one or two items, because it can be very frustrating to wait in line for 5 minutes just to buy a dozen eggs. read more

A solid location, easy to get to by car, train or bus, and filled with the expected magnificence of any Trader Joes. I'll never understand how this store makes money, as you're consistently paying 10 ot 20% less than you would expect to on everything, but it matters not. We also purchased the persimmon blood orange juice and the unpasteurized orange juice. Both juices were disappointing. This is perhaps the best grocery store I have been to. Part of this is out of convenience considering I can walk to it in less than a minute. Either way, there are clearly tons of other people that love it as it is always packed. I think one of the managers told me once that this was the second or third busiest Trader Joe's in the country. Not sure if this is by sales or customers, but it sure does a lot of business. Of course it comes with positives and negatives. The produce is always fresh and cheap. They sell by the item and not per pound for the most part. This way you can always pick the best and what's in season. Flowers also are cheap. Compared to local alternatives in Stop and Shop or Shaw's and Star Market, this store will be cheaper in the end. Since it is so busy, the turnover is fast as the store seems to be restocked 4 times a week! Yes, there are large shipping trucks outside the store and employees unpacking for hours 4 nights a week. I doubt anything in this store sits on the shelves for longer than 2 weeks save for some non perishables household items and some alcohol. Even then, I wouldn't be surprised if it were true for everything. There have been many expansions and renovations over the year to make it larger and more efficient. Hard liquor has been added and more of Trader Joe's products are becoming available for this once small store. This is the earliest and latest any liquor store is open on Sundays. Mainstream brands are not too prevalent, but many specialty ones are, including Trader Joe's outsourced products. It is most likely the largest seller of wine and beer in the area. The downside of this place is also how busy it is. Avoid at all costs during rush hour from around 4- 8 pm. It is way too packed for any normal person to shop. The prices also don't really ever go on sale. The frozen section is always a hit, but high prices may make most shoppers a bit tentative. Try not to drive, parking is a nightmare. The T and bus are easily accessible directly out front. Also try not to come right before close as some shelves may be empty and not restocked yet. Don't forget to hit the free samples! read more

This is a Covid-19 compliance review of Trader Joe's in Brookline: These guys get a flat out A. They had an employee sanitizing the carts, a line out front with six-foot markers, and they let people in only when the same number came out. Every employee was wearing a mask and gloves, and I only saw a single customer not wearing a face covering. They have aisles marked one way to help monitor traffic flow, and six foot markers for the queues, customers were not great about the six-foot rule but from what I can tell TJ's is doing everything they can to protect their employees and customers. Probably the best of any place I've been in Boston to-date. read more

Is it just me? Recently this TJ's has claimed that in order to purchase alcohol your whole party has to have an ID, regardless of age. In other words, if you bring your young children in, you must show some form of ID for them each if you want to purchase alcohol. Is everyone being subjected to this rule? And is it just me, or does this seem like a law rife with discriminatory consequences? Also.....fruit section horrible. I love Trader Joe's! This place is great for inexpensive buys and this one is way better than the one in Copley. The staff are really nice and their produce is most likely the best part. The food they have is amazing, but parking can turn into a huge hassle if you plan on driving. The checkout lines can also get long when they're busy, but even so the staff still stay super nice. My suggestion for them is to get a 12 items or less line just because I know I've come here for like three things and it sucks when the lines are long and I'm just trying to be in and out quick. My go-to Trader Joe's location here in Boston. I live down the street along Beacon so this would have to be by default anyway. I rarely see them out of stock of something, even after the after-work crowd comes in and makes a frenzy for the produce section. The alcohol section is pretty substantial with a good bit of variety and always has one or two employees there to assist. The line moves pretty quickly along the Beacon St. entrance and checkout is a breeze. I have been going here consistently for a few years as part of my grocery routine and will continue to do so. If you've ever lived in New York City and had to experience the insanity of the Union Square Trader Joe's, you'd appreciate how wonderful this TJ's is. It's calming and zen AF compared to the Union Square one. Sheesh. Now, that's not to say this place doesn't get busy. It does. The good thing is, the cashiers are incredibly efficient and the layout of the store gives you enough space to move around (for the most part) and peruse through everything. Going to TJ's is like an adventure. Will there be any cauliflower rice today (I'll take 8 packages, thanks)? What new snacks will they have? WILL ANY OF THE AVOCADOS BE RIPE!? So many emotions. I love this place because it's an affordable one stop shop for basically all my kitchen staples. Aka: they sell booze. Yeah, you read that correctly. You can get wine, beer, and liquor here. Let me preface this next comment by saying, "Generally I'm a fan of Trader Joes, However...." What ever you do, DO NOT GO THERE ON SUNDAYS. It is a frigging mad house. It's waaaaaay too crowded. There's almost not enough room to maneuver up and down the aisles, there's hot brookline mommies fighting over the last bag of trail mix, and getting in your way when all you're trying to do is get some dried mangos. Its just not a good shopping experience. I will add the point that if you are single guy with the smallest amount of game, come here on a weeknight after work and line up dates for the next 4 months. This place is swarming with single attractive ladies in they're 20-30s. As far as the food selection, its got just about everything you'd need. I mean the fresh meat and vegetable selection is kinda slim and there is no fresh fish. What the lack in fresh, they make up for in frozen goodies. However, its been a while since they've had bags of frozen uncooked shrimp. Which i love, cause i can season them before I cook, as opposed the frozen cooked shrimp which you just defrost. Gross! Don't do it.... This location of Trader Joes has beer and wine which is better than not having beer and wine. I mean its about as cool as having the Best Cellar across the street. I dont see the what all the hype is... Anyway, They have about 50 types of wines all about 10-20 dollars in value. Not a bad selection, I mean if you're hurt up, there is always the 3$ Charles Shaw. I have no real comments on the staff here. Aside from the dreaded kids that scan your groceries, those guys are effing cool. Oh yea... That parking lot. If you live within walking distance, you have no idea how lucky you are. If you have to drive here. I highly recommend avoiding this parking lot at all costs. So I have traveled all over the country and have been to well over 100 of Joes stores in my travels. Love their stores and the staff that makes the experience so pleasant and easy to shop. They are ALWAYS quick to help in any way they can. This location has the bonus of selling wine, great selection and the wine managers know their stock, as a very experienced Red Zinfandel drinker I have found their recommendations spot on! The manager took the time to ask what I like and matched that to several choices that were really tasty. I was initially blinded by the fabulous beer and wine section that this TJ's has to offer- coming from MD, TJ's was not able to sell any alcohol products. The first two times I shopped here, I was blinded by the booze to the hatefulness that is this store. I won't even mention that treachery that is the parking lot. Product selection is never consistent- some times they have a great variety of things that I have not seen in other stores, other times they don't have basic staples. My trip today pretty much ruined my evening. What is it with the stuck up, shitty customers that patronize this store? I recognize that the aisles are narrow and the layout sucks donkey balls. There appears to be no rhyme nor reason to where things are located (crackers above the frozen foods!?!?) but that doesn't excuse the horrific manner of the people that shop here. It appears you have to be oblivious to anyone other than your self to shop here. This store is full of people just standing with their cart blocking up the middle of the aisles cluelessly reading labels or chit chatting with friends. When I try to get by and say excuse me, they regard me with the blank look of a lobotomy patient. Dare I mention the people that are on their cell phones the ENTIRE time they are shopping and are paying more attention to their phone call than actually negotiating the aisles? How about the shoppers that ruthlessly bang the back of your heels with their carts or simply bump into you, never once offering an 'excuse me' or 'i'm sorry.' I only go here for cheap wine and convenience post-workout. The wine selection is larger and cheaper than Gimbels and vinodivino near my house. Otherwise, I avoid it because the clientele sucks. Like, why ya gotta be on your cell phone while poking at every avocado, or trying to steer a cart around a narrow produce section? One time, a lady was on her phone, standing in front of the ONE item I needed, so I politely said excuse me, and she looked at me and ignored me, so I had to PHYSICALLY MOVE HER CART OUT OF THE WAY because she refused. Another time, two employees were chatting up a third in front of the bubbly in the wine section and would NOT move even when I was like "I'm trying to buy some champagne." Seriously? SERIOUSLY?? Cheap wine, that's it. Also, I made the mistake of asking an employee where the celery was, and he said they were out, then proceeded to tell me WHY they were out and that there was some kind of shortage and something about the farmers, and if I come back in the mornings, they might have some and blah blah blah.
