This place is as fun as it gets when it comes to grocery and food shopping. Every time I shop here, I feel like there's something else I want to try in addition to my tried and true TJ faves and prices are good enough that you CAN try whatever you want without killing the bank. Yes there are a lot of Canadians shopping here but lines move fast. I've been coming here for years now and I don't get the reviews that talk about inventory shortages. I've never encountered that before. They might be like Costco and bring a product in temporarily or maybe a product is seasonal. But TJ seems like they take pride. Tangerines, sea salt caramels, tasty salads, salted pb pretzels, 2 buck or five buck chuck, wreaths, those delicious pea crisp things; all these things tj's gives to me, along with a partridge in a pear tree. Minus those last two, those only exist in song, guess I was feeling Christmasy and hopefully no one was offended. Oy. Tj's has a great selection of nuts and trail mixes, too. I'm joining the crowd! Trader Joe's is simply awesome...honestly I didn't get what the whole hype is about while shopping, but when I got home and tried products I've bought I've seen it! It's like discovering food again! Cheese was simply delightful, humus is melting in mouth, baked been are heaven! Trader Joe's = Service at 5+ stars. They know how to serve a customer, have very good product selection, and can not be beat -- maybe matched. Other grocery businesses should learn from the TJ business model. From service, to products, to product placement, to wide aisles, to signage they know how to get it right. Once we rolled into the store 5 min before close (did not know), went through check-out and only realized that the store had been 'closed' for the past 40 minutes. I apologized for the over-sight. The groceries are fresh & the prices are unbelievable! The only reason it has 4 stars instead of 5 is I still have to go to Freddies to buy things like bathroom cleaner & saran wrap. Fresh, seasonal, priced well, and my go to place for flowers! I love Trader Joe's and this location is the one I frequent most often. They carry great products without having a gazillion choices of each thing so the store is a nice size and not MASSIVE like many grocery stores. I find I never wait in line very long no matter how busy it is. I get great value for the money I spend. read more

Consistently slightly upscale quality from traditional large chain supermarkets. Some fun gourmet and health foods. Better quality items are less expensive than at the supermarket. I find getting my coffee and grinding at at Trader Joes as well as buying my extra sharp Canadian cheddar for a few dollars less a than Fred Meyers despite its superior flavor are two regular purchases that are well worth the trip. Trader Joe's has a large selection of gourmet cheeses at excellent prices. My favorite is the actor sharp cheddar aged over 2 years from Canada at $7.99. It has a nutty richness. The slightly granular texture with an acidic bite is addictive. Triple cremes (St. Andre and bleu), chevre, and standard fare are all of superior quality at discounted prices. The triple ginger snaps are killer. My ex husband lied when he said size doesn't matter. I get the biggest banana for $0.19. The smallest banana costs $0.19 and quality is consistent big or small so i go big....and its the same price I was paying 10 years ago. Seasonal items can be exceptional...holiday items are starting to appear so I'll be picking up the sipping chocolate in the tin and it should last me a year. One cannot beat their greeting cards for $0.99. They're located at the entrance and near the restrooms. The wine selection and prices are great! Some bottles carried exclusively by Trader Joe's are half the cost as comparable bottles at other stores. The one difference here as compared to other Trader Joe's is that at other Trader Joes I found very knowledgeable and helpful employees in the beer and wine section who always help me select a few bottles to match a specific occasion and food. Otherwise , Trader Joe's ... The same hip feel and friendliness follows the name from San Diego to Los Angeles to little Bellingham. Pretty soon Trader Joe's will be bringing its annual flavors of Christmas throughout the United States. Buying select items there has become an important tradition for many years. Trader Joe's cashiers are usually super friendly. But, this rat old woman (p.s. no age discrimination here as I myself am also 50+) just soiled every good impression on Trader Joe's Bellingham, WA. I went shopping Nov 3rd, 2018 and went to check out in express lane and saw the cashier were talking to one staff blocking the cashier's side while I was waiting to pay my grocery. That's fine with me as it's weekend, I don't mind a little bit of wait. The thing unrolled as the old woman just shamelessly told me that my buggy goes to the wrong side she can't reach to my grocery. Hell knows, they were blocking my way. If just don't want to be rude and push through my shopping bug between them. Once, she rang up my bill, the grocery is still on the table and she did not ask me do I need a paper bag or put my grocery in my TJ branded freezer bag. I asked her why not bag it for me, she shamelessly told me that either I can bag it myself or she can. But, she does not move a muscle to indicate her willingness to help me. Why or why ? Perhap, TJ should review if that specific staff is physically or mentally suitable to work in TJ. This complaint has been addressed to your staff in customer service desk. Hopefully, my complaint would be listened and some good change is happening. read more

I live here in Bellingham, and I often get upset when I cannot find a parking space at Trader Joe because there are so many Canadian cars in the parking lot, I have to park my car several blocks from TJ. I had several surgeries this year, and it is difficult for me to walk long distances with heavy grocery bags in my hands. I feel that it is not fair for us locals that we cannot shop in our local store because there are so many Canadians here. However, Trader Joe is a good grocery store. They have some really cool products that I cannot find elsewhere, and the prices are also very good. I think this place is too small, and the parking lot is also too small for Tj. I wish they would move the store to a much bigger location out into the county somewhere close to I5. read more

Bellingham was way past due for a Trader Joe's by the time the local branch opened up late last year. If you have been to TJ's before, than you are most likely familiar with some of the more popular products. I find that the Bellingham store has a better produce section than I have seen in the Seattle locations. Another plus: the parking lot for this store is fairly large and the check-out lines move quickly. I always sample something new and intriguing, and I especially appreciate the number of kosher products sold by TJ's (for everyday consumption--there aren't holiday specific items, such as matzo, etc). read more

I like Trader Joe's food, but it is always so packed with people. Many times it is difficult to even find a parking spot.

TJ's is awesome. Excellent quality and price for produce and organic foods. This only gets rated down to three stars because it's really tough to navigate with the high volume of human traffic inside the store and auto traffic in the parking lot. This place is a destination shopping trip (like a vacation or something) for Canadians, so be kind to our friendly neighbors to the north. But, if you don't feel like bumping carts with strangers, I'd recommend going elsewhere for your shopping needs on the weekends. read more

Look, it's Trader Joe's. The experience is pretty much the same, no matter where you go. But it was all well stocked and cleaner than some. Coming from the East Coast, a few items are discontinued our way, but we were able to purchase the African Spice Rub mix thingy there, so I bought like 10 of them, and didn't get a funny look. Why can't we have a Trader Joe's in Vancouver??? It's like Whole Foods but a lot cheaper. My absolute favorite place for groceries...dried nuts, cheese, flaxseed, snacks, frozen goods. Trader Joe's is bar none one of the best food stores I know of. They have a great selection of prepared foods, mostly boxed or canned, and frozen. the produce is the weakest point, but they have nice unusual specialty items. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This is a store that Vancouver sorely needs. Whenever I go drive down from Canada the lot has plenty of BC plates! read more

I come across the boarder for this store and can't get enough of it! It carries a lot of gluten free products at a good price- you simply cannot go wrong. I usually bring a cooler with me for all the frozen goods. It's a good thing this place is across the boarder or else I'd be there all the time! I drove here from West Vancouver with my daughter who is single and cooks for one. I was amazed by the array of frozen foods and I who am a cook bought enough for 25 meals. The fresh artichokes were .50 each I could hardly believe my eyes. When I got home I made trader Joe's butter chicken and Mr. W was very impressed. When did you have time to Make this he asked. A very good sign indeed. We arrived at about 6;30 in the evening and it was not crowded at all which was a nice surprise given the other reviews. We have been so spoilt in BC with glorious fresh produce that I would certainly not bring some back to Canada ( EXCEPT for the artichokes of course) I had a bowl of delicious ginger miso soup and strongly recommend it if you are on the Dr. Bernstein diet.
