The other day I called the customer service desk from one of their red phones and asked for someone to open a dressing room for me. The woman asked where I was. I'm not sure, but I don't think there are any other dressing rooms. Anyway, she finally came over and did not say a word to me. I said hi, someone has been in the other room for a while She smirked and walked away. I wanted to communicate non-verbally as well with a one finger wave. I have learned that going to Meijer requires a couple of things (especially on the weekend): 1) Do not plan to get out of there quickly. Go with the mindset that you will be there for a while, especially when trying to check out. 2) Don't expect friendly employees. You won't be disappointed this way. 3) Don't expect friendly customers. Most customers do not follow the first 2 rules here and are agitated. 4) Go with the attitude that everyone else is a joke. Watch the unhappy customers, unhappy employees, and those of us that follow the suggestions listed in 1,2, & 3. You'll know which ones we are. Stay relaxed and you'll be fine.

The cashier was not very welcoming, and when one item could not be found through the receipt lookup, she called the manager over the radio. When the manager (name tag said Chad) arrived, he acted as if he didn't know what was going on even though the situation had just been explained. He then said the issue was that the purchase was over 30 days old, which neither the cashier nor I had been told earlier. His tone felt dismissive and unprofessional, and at one point it seemed like he was mocking me while asking what I wanted to do. In the end, the store did exactly what I had asked from the beginning -- process the return and give store credit. When I asked for the manager's last name, the cashier refused to provide it and only whispered her own name when I asked. I've been a loyal HomeGoods customer for years and even have their credit card, but because of this interaction I will not return to this location.

The girl checking me out was very sweet but another employee behind the counter was very abrupt and not so nic. I needed to break a 100 dollar bill and since I was already there I simply asked if they could break it for me. A woman employee in a red top rudely snapped at me and in a nasty tone told me in no uncertain terms that they couldn't open up their registers. A nicer tone would have been fine. I left that store feeling like I committed a criminal act for merely asking a question. I understand that people try to pass illegal bills but a simple, I'm sorry we can't would have sufficed.
