Yep, it ain't much of a mall. There are couple of department stores (J.C. Penny, Palais Royal) and…read morea few smaller shops, but overall, the space is being rented to TDCJ for office space. The thing is, locals know that Huntsville is a bit of retail wasteland. Always has been. There have been complaints about a lack of good stores and decent restaurants as long as I can remember. Westhill mall is an ambitious and failed attempt to correct that. As far as it being part of a "country hell". I grew up here and returned after living in some of the greatest cities in the world. I know how good and bad Huntsville is. The lack of a 'real' mall doesn't even register on my radar. I can't imagine true mall culture in this town. Just thinking about a Hot Topic in Huntsville makes me laugh. West Hill mall does make a good place to get in a little light walking in the middle of our 100 degree summers. In fact, a lot of people use it for that instead of driving 15 miles out of town to New Waverly, or, for that matter, going to the public walking tracks in town, or the multiple gyms, the large state park, the public swimming pool, or the state of the art university facilities. Older people, in particular, prefer West Hill mall for their exercise. I am not claiming West Hill Mall is adequate by 'mall' standards, but if you come to Huntsville expecting the same retail amenities as a large city or a wealthy suburb like the Woodlands, you are highly delusional and set up for disappointment. And, I will stand on your LA or SF coffee table in my boots to tell you so (although I do love SF).

I've been In love with this place since i found them in Nacogdoches! The owners are friendly,…read moreconscientious and answer any questions you May have. It's a boutique atmosphere with an 'At Home' feel. It's more like a mom and pop shop thanks to Facebook live sales. Gary and Nancy, plus their daughters, bring you into their warehouse (bu you actually feel like it's their living room) 3 nights a week with preview teasers sent out earlier in the day, via Facebook. I've used FB live sales to purchase anything from plants to wreaths, to clothing (the invite/teasers are a marketing genius and only GUG has them) They make you feel important when you're shopping (you don't find that in MOST stores anymore). I'm a native Houstonian but have taken the drive to Huntsville just to meet these folks who have booths at festivals during the Fall....boosting small town businesses in the process. Love, love, Love GUG! Also a bonus is that you have clothes to wear to work or school that you won't find in the malls or strip centers.

As a 68 year old African America female the atmosphere was toxic. The young white female workers, young enough to be my children followed me like I was going to walk out the store with all their merchandise while their white customers were shopping without the same standard. They just didn't see want I saw from one of their "white customers." YOUR JEWELRY IS MISSING. As an educator it is always my goal when given the opportunity to teach my students how it make people feel when assumptions are made about you because of how you look, talk, etc. all of us deserve respect. Today again was simply hardening. Don't get me wrong the situation was handle with professionalism. I bought my merchandise to prove a point knowing they didn't care. The Owner in my opinion need to address the manner unless this is the POLICY. If so make it known that Individuals that DON'T look like my sales employees are not allowed. In 2026 this is still being addressed. WHY!!!!

I have driven past this store for a few years now and I finally decided today was the day I would…read moreget out and explore it. Good- It reminds me of the boutiques you see while walking through the French Quarter in New Orleans. Very eclectic and uniquely artistic. They have bright neon colored decor and flamboyant 1/2 mannequins with full makeup on dripping in costume jewelry. I was mesmerized more by the way the store was presenting its wares, than the actual products themselves. I saw a couple of super cute, but expensive jackets, and a beautiful tie- dyed tube dress. They have Miss Me jeans, cute sun dresses, and lots of interesting items, that you are sure not to find everywhere. Bad- It looked kind of hit or miss with the offerings. I was in the store a good five minutes or so, before anyone even bothered to muster up a greeting, and it was half hearted at that. Almost as if, she could hardly be bothered. Hey, everyone has an off day, but if even you don't want to be in there, who will? Maybe they could use some fun music to liven the place up. Unfortunately, the entire experience was worthy of only 2.5 stars, but that's not an option. Ugly- Nothing bad to report although, I will say this store would fare much better in Austin. It is certainly not going to appeal to everyone, as it seems a bit outlandish with a few designers I have seen do well in Europe. The sheeple that like all things beige and typical of Woodland's mall attire, may struggle to find something that fits in with their crowd. Personally, I think it would be fun to dress up like some of the mannequins. I really liked their neon colored tutus. They were down right cute! This of course is coming from a die hard NOLA fan and people are just more funky and fun there.
