They have a wonderful selection. And they are the only place I know that correctly calls "sausage kolaches" as their real name--Klobásník--or Klobásníky (plural.) but don't expect those to still be there. On a weekday, they might still have these Czech treats until 3 pm, but on the weekends, they go fast! Always friendly staff and i just love looking through their home decor. They have the cutest little tchotchkes that are locally crafted and so wonderful for home, garden, or lawn. I have bought many a christmas and birthday gift on the way. Great metal art as well! The bathrooms are always clean and smell fine. I highly recommend stopping at least one time to see everything they have to offer. It's a true, "small Texas town" stop! Oh, and set the GPS! The value at Ollie's is great. We didn't have a ton of time to shop but we nabbed an A&M garden flag for $6.99 and a big bag of Brownie Brittle for $5.99. (Now I will note that we have been "burned" by food at Ollie's in the past -not this particular location- when we bought some mint patties which were infested with bugs. So yes we are "nervous" buying food here but I think that if they are well packaged, that shouldn't normally be a problem.) Now for the service. Wow. Aimee was our cashier and was FABULOUS. She was so friendly and helpful. She got us signed up for Ollie's rewards and explained everything so thoroughly. I honestly don't know why we didn't sign up before. It's not like we shop here much but the points don't expire so we should have done it sooner. Thankfully this wonderful employee was able to get us signed up. Wasn't expecting such great service here. Outstanding.

Not sure why the mark up -- oh yes, nvm, because it's the only grocery store within 20 miles. But, that may be Brookshire Brothers' business strategy, because the one in Madisonville is not much better. Somebody needs to give these guys some competition. They are building NO customer loyalty, whatsoever. As a side note, when I went into the one in Normangee a few days ago, there was a black lab dog lying by the front door...I assumed it was someone's pet, waiting for his/her owner to come out. Then I heard some woman, I assume the manager, telling the dog to leave and yelling at it. What a bitch. This is on main street in town. Dang, at least call animal control, or shelter it for a day or so. I could hear this from the back of the store, and went up to the front, and the dog was gone. I paid for my $3.00 frozen burrito, that is $0.69 everywhere else in the world, and will never go back. Oh, by the way, Brookshire Brothers, check out how well Randall's did with that same business strategy.
