This was upsetting and completely inappropriate given the situation. I later contacted management, hoping for an acknowledgment or apology, but felt my concerns were largely dismissed. Additionally, very minimal grooming was performed before the service was stopped due to my dog becoming difficult, yet I was charged the full price. While I understand safety concerns with animals, I felt the situation was handled poorly and without reasonable effort or compassion. What disappointed me most was the lack of empathy and professionalism. A stressful moment could have been handled with kindness, but instead it left me feeling embarrassed and disregarded. As a result, I will no longer be using your grooming services and will be seeking private grooming moving forward.

I was nervous about having our cavalier King Charles spaniel groomed at a chain store franchise. Full disclosure: About 20 years ago, a friend of mine had to put his dog down because a groomer broke the little cocker spaniel's leg, and it could not be reset. Until now, we have had all our dogs groomed at the groomer housed within our vet's office, which is reassuring to me. But, our regular groomer's earliest available appointments are now in SEPTEMBER! Our little cavalier was getting pretty matted, so I was forced to look elsewhere for her health and safety. When I went in to book the appointment, there was just one woman in the grooming area (which is completely viewable through glass from the store areas), and I had to wait a little bit for her to get to a stopping point with the dog she was grooming so she could take my information. I was grateful for the time to observe not only the worker, but the dog, to see how stressed or nervous he seemed and how she handled him. The dog was very calm while she worked on his foot pads, and she was not hurried or abrupt with him. Assured enough by all of this, I booked a Saturday noonish appointment for our little Betty. When we arrived, we noticed the woman checking in the dog ahead of us, asking a lot of questions about cut, services, etc. The woman who checked us in wasn't as personable, and given Betty's fur matting, was NOT encouraging; basically, she showed us a swatch of fabric "fur" to show us that they would shave Betty everywhere. We were a little upset because the cavalier coat is not ideally to be cut at all, but due to our own delay in getting her groomed, she was going to have to have some mats cut out. But that seemed a little aggressive to us! We kept talking to her about what could be kept and brushed out, and when we left, we saddened and nervous about what we would get when we came back three to four hours later to collect her. They called about four hours later and said she was ready to pick up, so off we went. We waited while they went to pick her up, and when she came out, we couldn't believe it! We were prepared for bald Betty, but she came out fluffy and beautiful, mat free, with pretty little bows in her "pigtails" (her ears). We had stipulated we wanted her fluffy little hobbit feet left long, too, and they were trimmed and shaped, looking fabulous. There were some shaved areas, but they were well camouflaged. Seriously, she looked AMAZING! We took our sales slip to the check out at the front of the store (she was $40, which I signed off on when we took her in), and I got $10 cash for the groomer. I went back and said, "I have a tip for Beth..." not knowing who she was. The personable, energetic woman we had seen initially upon arrival said, "I'm Beth!" and we talked to her about how happy we were with the quality of the cut and she explained what she had done and how mindful she had been of what we wanted. I will happily return with any of our dogs here, but only if I can make a Beth-specific appointment. She was awesome!

I was very disappointed to see that the only visible review is negative, and am writing to provide a contrasting perspective. The store is well-stocked and prices are reasonable. Sale items are abundant. More importantly, the lady who is there most often is very knowledgeable and cares about the fish and other animals. She isn't after a making quick buck at the expense of living creatures. If a purchase is imprudent, she will let you know. If you ask a question, you will get a detailed and correct answer. She has often directed me to a less expensive product after I had selected something that was overkill for my aquarium. I purchased a few fish there once, and noticed problems with the eyes of one of them after a few days. I went to the store to purchase medication, but the lady asked me to bring the fish in for an exchange instead. She said it must have been problematic to begin with and it wasn't fair for me to spend money on treating it. I hadn't so much as hinted at an exchange. All of the employees are knowledgeable and friendly. A young man who works there once spent half an hour looking up an answer to a complicated question I had. This is definitely a business worth supporting.

We received our Cavapoo pup "Rosie" at 9.5 weeks old and she is perfect! Rosie is in perfect health and is the smartest dog I've ever met! She is successfully learning to pee on the pad, slept in the crate without wetting herself from day 1, and had already mastered the "sit" command on her first day at home with us! Rosie is so sweet and cuddly and we love her so much! We put a deposit down one year ago with Petit Jean Puppies and had to decline our turn several times until we were fully ready. Gina was always patient with us and professional. They were patient with us until we were ready and wonderful about the transaction and transition which were seamless. They have excellent communication and very professional. We also used the dog nanny they recommended to fly her to us and had a wonderful experience with them as well.

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and they don't seem afraid to help you make compatibility decisions, where a lot of other pet stores will tell you whatever it takes to sell you something. The animals they have are in excellent health, and their habits are always spotless. Whenever I buy fish from PetCo they end up being diseased and often killing the fish I already had within a few days. Tropical Adventure is the only store I trust to sell me fish that are healthy, and won't be bringing illness into my tank. My only gripe, and it's a small one, is they don't have much of a selection. They are a small pet store, you can't expect them to have an inventory the size of a chain store.
