Teeing off on 10.

There's been a big change at The Club at Pasadera! It was purchased in November 2023 by Concert Golf Partners, which has the resources and professional experience to continue the many improvements started by the prior local owners, who over five years had invested millions into TCAP after taking over from Chinese conglomerate HNA in 2018. Under the guidance of a superintendent who spent at decade honing his craft at Spyglass Hill in Pebble Beach, the TCAP course is now in fantastic shape and features some of the best holes on the Monterey Peninsula. The front nine plays similar to a valley course, while the back nine has major elevation changes like a mountain course. Jump at the chance to play it if you get the opportunity. With wide fairways but dozens of bunkers and water in play on 10 holes, this is a course you're sure to find endlessly interesting ... and challenging!

A blushing bride signature cocktail served a la creme.

I attended a wedding here last weekend, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The best part is the bar staff will gladly add whipped cream and a cherry to whatever drink you please. Unfortunately, they did not have Schlitz or any canned beer at all, so we were unable to get my favorite celebratory beverage, a Schlitz cocktail. But, like good seamen, we adjusted the sails and still were able to find a drink that works. I will turn over the rest of my review to my friend Pat H. who told the story of our pleasurable bar experience better than I can: --- "We were worried they might not have whipped cream at the bar, so we brought our own and put a bottle behind the bar so they were good to go. But when we came back to the bar after dinner and asked for whipped cream and a cherry on top of the bride's signature 'blushing bride' greyhound, the bartender said they didn't have whipped cream. I asked her to double-check, and she looked. I peeked over the sink full of ice and champagne where I left the bottle and it wasn't there, and she said they don't have any. So I left with my blushing bride without cream. I turn around and see a disappointed Bethany and Jeremy and they send me right back to her. I go back with my blushing bride and ask the same bartender again to check if they have whipped cream and a cherry for my drink like a crazy person, but this time her eyes light up and she says, 'Yes, there is one bottle!' Before applying the whipped cream to my cocktail, she holds back and says 'I thought I've seen everything, but this takes the cake' about five times in a row. Then she finally applies the whipped cream and adds the cherry on top and says one more time 'I thought I'd seen everything.' Then Jeremy comes over and says, 'Would you like sprinkles on that?' And unscrews the sprinkles cap that was up his tuxedo sleeve and shakes on the sprinkles perfectly. I think she had a heart attack."

I went to a private party and it was great! The service was on point, the food good, and the atmosphere was lovely. The only drawback was the limited bathrooms for the number of attendees. I cannot get over the paella pan with seafood. Divine!

Our wedding was August 5, 2017 and I could not be happier. After emailing and speaking with multiple vendors in the area we decided to meet with Debbie at the Nicklaus club. The venue does not disappoint on grandeur. You arrive to a beautiful iron gate and drive up through ponds and gorgeous greenery. The old Spanish style of the clubhouse is great! There is ivy, a beautiful courtyard with fountain, basically just gorgeous! Debbie took us on the grand tour explaining the entire wedding process along with history of the club. It was the only venue we physically went to look at and we were sold. On top of that you get the entire venue for the full day of your event. The price was way more reasonable than most other venues in the general area. The provide their own catering, liquor, tables and linens, and even extras like candles for the tables, and specialty chairs which usually cost more at other venues. Made it super easy to plan! We had a great tasting and even better they allowed both our parents to attend as well. They really made us feel welcome and that we would "own" the place on our wedding day. Even down to what furniture I wanted where. For example I was able to drop off all my decor, including two huge wine barrels, on Friday morning...come back Friday afternoon for my rehearsal, show up Saturday morning at 10am to get ready and then have my wedding at 5. To top it off we got to store our stuff there to pick up Sunday morning so none of my family had to stay late to collect things. I did not have a wedding planner and thanks to their lovely coordinators I didn't really need one. Paige and Danielle were very responsive to my millions of emails back and forth. They were there to walk us through the rehearsal and even pulled strings to make sure a treasured family crest was hung in the ballroom on the wedding day. The actual day went off without a hitch and Monterey delivered on the beautiful weather. Multiple guests came up to me and said this was the first wedding where they actually enjoyed the food! Paige, Danielle, and everyone who works there made our wedding day a literal dream come true!

A great golf course to play if you're in the Monterey/Marina/Salinas area. Fairways were in incredible shape as were the greens and bunkers (which I unfortunately visited more than I would've liked!). Very nice practice area (range, putting green, chipping green with bunker that mirrors what you'll see in the course. Thanks to Kurt Burmeister for the opportunity it's to play!

Such friendly and helpful staff! I have golfed here twice and the course is just lovely. Today, I enjoyed a glass of sparking Rose' (maybe 3) in the sun with a yummy poke on the outdoor patio. I love this club.

Nice place, great staff, good food. Well placed bars and food catering areas, ample seating in and outside.

I came back to my cart pleased that the bag was placed nicely in the compartment for personal belongings. The Duke's membership makes this place more worth playing. Theoretically, most people will probably get the membership for discounts at Spyglass and Spanish Bay, but Del Monte is a nice, laid back type of place for when you want a different vibe than the courses in the Pebble Beach area - to me I probably wouldn't drive a few hours to go play there for $130 but with the Duke's it's $56-72. The condition is still very good, but you'll just see a lot more weeds in the rough - this is pretty intentional by design and I actually can't believe this is the oldest golf course in operation west of the Mississippi River. In general, stay out of the rough as it grabs your clubs. It can also be difficult to find balls if you lose it in the rough. Sand is firm and takes well to shorter swings. Some green complexes have shelves so your approach needs to hit the right portion of the green. Food wise there's usually one person taking orders and running out the food and bussing tables (which they shouldn't as you should definitely bus your own table due to the available large trash bins and tray return). In other words, you may have to wait a few minutes before they return to the counter to take your order. Food is okay - smash burger was tasty but the bun is too soft and was a soggy mess. The chicken curry salad sandwich could use a little more curry powder but was definitely a way better experience than the smash burger. The person driving the beverage truck didn't even stop to ask if we wanted anything. I was sizing up my shot and they sped past before I could get a chance to flag them down. Overall, a good stop to use your Duke's club benefits (credit for food/beverage, discounted green fees, free round of golf for you and guest including cart, guest passes) and affordable with a relaxing vibe.

Love how they have a back room to set the buffet up in and keep your stuff in. I got an amazing package through them although I booked my wedding 2 years in advance and I know they changed things so not sure what the current rates are but I was ao grateful to be able to have an affordable wedding in the Monterey area. So much food at our buffet with cake included. And everything tasted amazing. Even the appetizers were mouth watering. The drinks are also great - and strong! They did signature cocktails as well for me. They let us set an amount for the bar with certain selections for open bar and then guests could do cash bar for top shelf selections if they wanted and both options were utilized. They have a fully stocked bar with so much to offer and the bar staff is the absolute best. They were very easy to work with, no scary overwhelming contracts, just good communication. There were staff changes during my time as a bride but both my main points of contact were easy to work with throughout the process. They let us pull up right by the back room and store our wedding items in the back the night before and come the next day to get everything- very generous of them. Any time I needed to discuss anything, they were responsive. They also let us do a free tasting - we were seriously full all day, such great food! Everyone is so nice. I am giving 5 stars but the only hiccupy things that happened were they originally told me the timeline for my wedding would be 5 pm - 11 pm but then later on they said they needed to change it to end at 10 pm due to noise ordinances. They let me start at 4 though and luckily I hadn't sent out invitations yet so it wasn't a big deal but I had to change all my other contracts with all my other vendors which was kinda annoying. It did push up the whole day such as getting ready, first look photos - a wedding timeline is a very sensitive thing and even changing it by an hour took extra planning time with all my vendors so that's not a small thing to have a bride change. But it all worked out and I preferred the earlier timeline actually. They also only give 2 hours of setup time, but you can stage a lot of things in the back room so its totally doable - we had to be really organized and prepared for tight setup time. Also there was overlap with golfers still being there and my guests arriving so even though they have a huge parking lot, the parking lot was very filled up during the guest arrival time which worried me a little but it all worked out with everyone finding a spot. I was also told by some of my guests that dinner service felt a bit rushed, like staff grabbing away plates while people were still finishing their food. I didn't witness this first hand so I truly dont know what was up with that but I had a whole table of no shows due to a family emergency so we had plenty of extra food and I truly hope people could even get seconds if they wanted. I dont like hearing that food was literally being pulled away. However, there were so many compliments from my guests about the food, staff, and experience. People loved the cake and they gave me a custom cake flavor so very appreciative. Overall, everyone loved the venue. They leave drapery up and even though its definitely an older building (it passes well for a rustic vibe) they work on drawing your eye to the areas that they uplevel plus the ocean views and huge windows are stunning. I would 1000 percent recommend this venue. Not sure what current rates are or what changes they may have made since I booked. I hope they keep costs reasonable- the wedding industry is so tough and I get it, and they could charge more, and I know it is a ton of work but its so lovely that couples could literally have their dream wedding wiithout feeling price gauged. They are very fair there and that's such a rare thing to be able to say. I truly love that they seem to really care about their clients. I am super grateful and love it there and will go there every year for my anniversary dinner!

The course was in terrific shape today and pace was very good...finishing in a 4.5 hour round despite our group having lost a few balls along the way in the woods or thick native areas. I will say there were a few changes since I last played and I didn't remember it having so many waste bunkers everywhere the last time I came, which was at least 7 years ago. Although many people walk, I enjoyed having a cart because it's a rolling course and it can be quite a walk on a few holes to the next tee. I do wonder why they still don't have GPS on their carts. I would also suggest that they add some EV car chargers in the parking lot. Many of us drive 2 hours or more to get here so it would be a nice touch to be able to charge up the car a bit during a round, or while having a beverage or two in Porters before hitting the road!
