Great gym! Always bringing in new equipment to help upgrade. From free weights to machines and cardio equipment this gym is pretty well equipped considering in a small town. Facilities have gone down hill. Men's shower has two broken showers out of 8 available. Hot tub in men's room is closed with no sign of repairing. Many of the lockers have broken hinges. Place has too many members due to its small size and tiny parking lot. read more

It's a great gym and I like the gym but seeing it as I don't have time to work out anymore at the gym, I thought I canceled my membership and it was negligent of me because when I went to cancel it, I told the girl I don't want my gym membership. She said that's fine. I think she went on the computer. I don't know well you must make sure that you sign a paper when you're canceling so they don't charge you for a year like they did to me which it's OK. It was negligent of me, but I said something to the staff at Cabrillo fitness about. Maybe they should just have a piece of paper up so you can see that so you know and she goes it was in your contract. I'm like you know how many contracts I have in my life that like if I had to save all that shit and look at it, I would literally go nuts. Can't you just be good people and like have the paper right there she was rude and had an attitude, but that's OK. read more

Been going to cabrillo fitness for about a year on my 2 year commitment. That was until my work schedule had caught up to my body and had stopped attending consistently. I totally forgot to cancel and continued to pay for membership until I had to cancel my card (for unrelated reasons). It totally slipped my mind that I'd still have to cancel membership and had forgotten to check emails. My outstanding balance added up to about $315 and when I went to talk to Shawn about the next steps he proceeded with genuine care about what to do next. Instead of heckling me to pay he listened to my work situation and found it in his heart to wave the balance and cancel my membership free of charge. It sucks to have to leave this wonderful gym but I have no choice, I hope to one day be able to come back and continue with a place that actually cares about you. Not sure where to start on this review, came in from a morning swim at 10:45AM to the Women's locker room to find a male working in the locker room. There was no barrier. I asked him and he shrugged, pretty amazing 6 naked women, shower, sauna, etc. All of the ladies were shocked. I spoke with the manager Sean and he stated he had to do the work during the day and there were no women electricians. And then stated to tell all the women who voted for the infrared sauna. No email sent to members, appalling. Oh and the Kotex box in the first stall has been broken for 8+ months. They have no female workers. If I could I would put ZERO stars. read more

Toadal Fitness boasts that it is the friendly alternative to Big Box gyms. This has not been my experience at Cabrillo Fitness in Aptos. I have never been greeted by the male staff who work at the desk when I arrive. In their reviews, other women have written how friendly the staff are, and how they are always greeted with friendliness. I have been going here for a few months now and have been very happy with my experience. The people at the front desk have been so helpful and welcoming. They always go above and beyond and truly make this gym feel welcoming. The amount, variety, and cleanliness of the equipment is very impressive! They have a rock climbing area, cross training room with TRX, box jumps. Etc, and all of your typical weight room equipment and cardio machines. The have a great heated pool and saunas as well. I've especially been enjoying Alberts spin class. He is very good at encouraging his class to push harder while making sure those who need to go at their own pace don't feel overwhelmed. Such professionalism and talent! Definitely have noticed improvements in endurance and strength after taking his class after a few months. He also has the option to join in on his classes remote! He even puts on video of cycle races and event to really help with visualization and motivation! Just all around excellent class that I've been very impressed with! This gym has a great mix of people too. From those who are experienced all the way to beginners. Everyone feels welcome. So Cabrillo fitness has been around for some time and they are always looking to improve equipment and facilities for their members. Granted it might not be all shiny and new like some gyms, but it's the staff which makes all the difference. It has a very comfortable feel about about it. If your interested in workouts, racketball, swimming, a variety of classes and personal training, this is the place. Sean, Zack, Tim, Tall John, Elijah, Dalmo and Lisa are awesome people who genuinely care about their members and go out of the way to help them anyway they can. A special note on trainers...I have been in training with Lisa Crouch now for more than a year. She has the education and background which far exceeds most trainers as well as a level of sensitivity for her clients needs. With her guidance, I've been doing HIIT and Functional fitness. I can do things now that I never thought possible. Mind you, I was not in terrible shape but now I am moving towards being in outstanding shape! With her help, I'm making a lifelong investment in health, mobility and cardiovascular fitness I never thought possible. It's a great partnership in health. She, as well as the other staff are very encouraging and positive. Lastly, if you are looking for a local gym with great trainers and constant facility improvement, this is a good place to go. There are many layers to what makes a place work, and I have to say that quality customer service and kind staff make ALL the difference in our gym experience. When I have questions about my membership, they are efficient and on it. Stinky hot tub. Some people, mostly old people use it as a bath and they never shower before going in which makes it smell like a dirty wet rag. Heat sauna smells as well. Like the flooring is rotted. Gym is very cold. Equipment is getting old. Locker room showers are falling apart and smell. Try other gyms before trying here. I regret being a member seeing as the maintenance is so crappy. The trainers aren't that polite as well but that is not why I joined and don't need them anyway. I am mostly disgusted with how they maintain it and let people trash it to the point of having to take a shower after taking a shower there. read more

Love this gym, have been coming here all summer and it's a great place to work up a good sweat and feel comfortable in your own skin. The only problems I've ever encountered was that they close at a different time on Friday and a different time Saturday and Sunday (which is way early!) but I think the amazing staff compensates for how early they close on the weekend. Most importantly I met my nutritionist here. Rebecca Hazelton, she had a free gut health introduction to her ideology & process on a Saturday quite a few months back. I am very thankful for this place being open to the other sides of health beyond working out. She has changed my life. I'd give the last extra star if they had more yoga class options @ this branch. Although I got a promotional deal & the ability to go to other branches (thankfully, & I take full advantage as there are many other classes that are extensively timed avail elsewhere) Yet the yoga classes here are great. PEGGY, PIA, CHARLES & ABBIE, are all great teachers. Bummed Will left as there is now only one night a week for evening class. Peggy is friendly & caring, her style is mellow & also consistent, w/a curve ball every now & again. Pia has a very kind attitude & accommodating ability, she is very smooth w/instruction. Her voice is also soothing in a way. Charles is mellow & calming w/his flow, different yet similar at times. Abbie is restorative & gentle while also can throw in challenging flows as well. *I've also seen the Zumba teacher really kick ass.* *Would love to suggest a shoe removal before entering the yoga room as other clubs have implemented, it's nice when the floor is very clean, especially when your on it frequently & that suggested idea would help w/that issue.* I would LOVE if they did some major sound proofing somehow (even some would be amazing). Maybe a weather stripping w/some girth to it added to the bottom of the doors to the yoga room...? OR something to dissipate the sound of the basketballs & racquet balls? You can hear them loud & clear while trying to zen out & practice yoga. I dont even know how to address the random HULK like weight lifters who slam the weights down every rep & you can hear that literally reverberating throughout the entire club. Anyhow, the swimming pool is a saltwater pool & definitely a favorite here. Yet in the afternoon/early evenings it is VERY busy. It would be nice if lanes had timers set if there are people waiting or maybe a day before sign up to count on a lane open, & not have to wait. Yet regardless I enjoy the sunshine as I wait. The outdoor patio is very inviting, nice & enjoyable. Also the outdoor hot tub is also enjoyable. The newly remodeled floor on the bottom floor also looks very nice! I use to run the treadmills, yet I dont anymore. Yet no complaints there. I love do love their little outdoor area nearby the weights thou. As well as their row machine. The staff is friendly & inviting. They remember me by name everytime I walk in. Tim (I can tell) is a neighborhood favorite, he is also motivating. Sean has his own style of friendliness (yet he can come off slightly coarse.) Isiah is also a smiling face I dont mind coming across when I come to check in. My family and I had recently moved to Soquel, and we just love our new home and our neighbors. However, because of the Pandemic, as lifelong gym-goers, we have been away from the thing that we loved, the gym. Today we signed up with the Cabrillo Fitness Club, and our trainer Zak is simply an amazing trainer. Zak was able to correct my body posture and gently shared his best workout practice. I have been a member for years and I really love the vibe at Cabrillo Fitness. Now they have 24 hour access making them a really good choice. The people who work there are friendly and helpful - Shawn, Tim, and Chris - (and a few that I don't know their names) all very kind and supportive. And the people who come to workout are easy to talk to and it feels like a place you want to keep going to, just to see your friends there. Also, they have a heated salt water pool and when the weather is sunny I have found the experience divine - with the wet and dry spa - you feel so good when you are done. And I really enjoy taking Yoga classes with Pia Mon & Wed at noon. She is really good at just the right amount of work and play and her classes are very fun while being a good yoga workout. They are always very welcoming and I love the "non-corporate" feel of this club.They provide locks you can borrow to store your belongings in a locker which is pretty nice. There is also a wide variety of amenities available (sauna, steam room, pool, hot tub etc.) On top of that, they have great equipment! They are always aiming to improve and make the club better for its members. Parking can be a little tough, but they really do their best to accommodate everyone by providing a free shuttle and extra parking at the school next door. I've been a member at Cabrillo Fitness (Toadal Fitness) since 2008 and couldn't be happier. Fun, comfortable, friendly neighborhood gym. When I first signed up I was nervous and intimidated because I had never been a member at a gym or really worked out but Shawn instantly made me feel at home and confident that I could reach my goals there and has since remained a positive and supportive friend. The staff are all fantastic and you can tell they actually enjoy their job and care about the club. Tim, Chris and Elijah are always on it and attentive. I always say that the chain gyms like Planet Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness and Anytime are like the McDonalds of gyms and every Toadal Fitness is like a home cooked meal. I am SO thankful to have had Cabrillo Fitness during these hard COVID times. They have made it possible to still get a good workout in and stay safe at the same time. They have always been super clean even before and went above and beyond to make it extra sanitary after the pandemic hit. The staff is amazing- they always greet you and engage. My favorite part of Cabrillo is that they have the space for you to do your own thing and a lot of functional equipment other than machines.
