So, Town Square called me a few months ago and the pitch was just what we were looking for to get our business noticed. It took 3 tries to get our website to look somewhat presentable but still did not have the photos and layout we asked for. Fast forward a little while we made the decision to cancel our services and asked about getting our domain transferred back to us...crickets on that end for a few days and then we finally received a phone call. Of course, I let them talk me into downgrading us and was told that someone would call me to discuss a game plan. Crickets again so we sent an email to cancel our services and stop all billing. To my surprise, I logged into our site today (emailed them yesterday 1/8) and our site was gone. No phone call, no email, just a missing site. So now my customers will try to go to our site and they will not find us. Now they are messing with our business. In the few months we were with them, not 1 single phone call or inquiry. They kept telling me that my site was ranking and we were in the third spot on Google. I guess they forgot that I could check that myself and we were definitely NOT in the third spot. I will be contacting the BBB and definitely will be leaving more reviews in as many places as I can. read more

I have used WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, PHP, and other web development environments. This is the worst web tool available. Townsquare supplies no documentation and has no FAQs. Their software consists of some forms floating on top of Wordpress, which makes it very difficult to edit your site. You would be far better off with Wordpress by itself. They get back to you in a few days with as little information as possible. The business seems designed to take advantage of small businesses that must rely on Townsquare for the smallest changes, and even those are difficult to make, as others have pointed out here. Run away. They are a very frustrating and uncooperative business partner. read more

They were very friendly at first and once.i.got to see my website, it looked just fake. Not the work we do and I wanted actual pictures of our work to show. Then I tried to.cancel after not.getting any traffic through my site and they said i had to pay that month first. Then I canceled my debit card and they somehow charged my new card and took the money anyway from my account. So I disputed that charge and got my money back and blocked all future payments. I had been contacted continuously over the last 4-5 months by Townsquare. I finally carved out enough time to listen to their pitch. I liked what I heard but was still on the fence about making a decision. Daisia, a salesperson with Townsquare finally convinced me to come on board. I paid the service fee by credit card and electronically signed their form. After I had slept on it that night, I had a change of heart and informed them that I had decided not to continue. Daisia attempted to persuade me to stay the course but I stood my ground. I was informed that since no progress had been made on my account, there should be no reason why I wouldn't receive a refund. I asked her to please inform me when I might expect it once she spoke to her manager. That has been over a week ago and I have yet to hear from her. We have emailed her without response. They had no problem contacting me when they were looking for another account but now they can't bother to inform me of when to expect my refund. I hadn't had a chance to read the reviews on this company until now, so I am glad that we chose not to work with them. Sam Ludwig had reached out on multiple occasions in an attempt to get us to sign up to allow them to build a website with their company. As an AC company, I wouldn't say the right time to make a sales call would be in the summer. Still, we entertained the offer, but made the decision that the cost of the services could not be justified at this time with our main focus being the customers in these hot months, as well as growing the company with moving to a new location. After we came to the final conclusion of building our own site on the easy-to-use wordpress (which I learned that is the same website Timesquare uses...) instead of working with Timesquare, Sam was not happy with that response and decided to question if I had any knowledge at all about building a site, SEO, etc. Said that he wouldn't turn to google to perform a system install-well no, Sam, I wouldn't think that would be a good idea either. I have proudly obtained a Bachelor's degree in graphic design and website development, but haven't had the time to focus on the site until now. I understand that his goal is to obtain new customers and make sales, but let me tell you, talking down to a potential customer, questioning their competency, and hanging up on the customer when you don't get the answer you want is not a good business move. These guys seem friendly enough but friendly gets you nowhere in business. Consistency, responsiveness and Integrity are what this company is lacking. From the start they were very pushy to launch my website after I told them there were things that needed to be fixed. They told me "let just launch it and we will fix these issues in the next few days". THIS IS VERY ALARMING for a marketing company. Every second that my website goes unfinished is a potential customer that sees that and decides not to contact us because of unprofessionalism, but sadly they cared more about launching everything to get me on the account then to take their time and finish the website. My rep was Gunnar, he was a nice enough guy but he did not follow through on the things he said he would do. Im sure this isnt only his fault as I believe an employee is only as good as the business. On many accounts I would ask for something to be changed or get done and he would say he would have it for me by the end of the day but instead days would pass and I would have to stop what i was doing to check in and remind him that im still waiting on whatever it was. I strongly would not recommend this company, I will say this was money well spent because this was a great lesson for me to learn in business. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I was cold called by this company to see how we do our marketing. After chatting for awhile I finally asked her what she was wanting. She asked if we'd be interested in getting SEO work done by them and I politely said I was not interested because we were happy with our current SEO company. She began to argue and not let me go. She would say she couldnt find me when she searched our company online, so I tested it and obviously we do, so I told her she was incorrect. I was reading some of the reviews on here, and I have to say! My experience was completely different. They created a beautiful website for my company. Anytime I emailed them with new photos or request, it was done that day. I have dealt mostly with Bailyn and Audrey and they are very pleasant and professional. I like that this company does not suck you in to a contract. My husband had back surgery, so I canceled everything that wasn't of the utmost importance, that included Townsquare I was all too happy around 9 weeks later to pick right back up where I left off. They had my website up and running that day! I feel like the cost is very reasonable and the beautiful thing is that if you don't get the results you are wanting, you can just cancel... I'm not really sure who some of those people were dealing with, but it certainly was not how I was treated. I feel like the money is worth the gamble. After 90 days of service, I realized that this company was not providing the service that was promised. I canceled the service before the next billing cycle, however, they still charged me. Stay away from this company..I can't impress upon you enough. They say they will charge one price per month, before hand, but charge you another price per month after the website is built. They say it is your site and if you leave their services, it is yours to have, but after you signup, they tell you you can not. They say you will have a responsiveness rep, and your rep won't get back to you. They say you can make as many changes as you wish, when you wish, but a minor change will take months on end, taking ten phone calls and emails to accomplish.. , they are horrible. The initial salesperson that tries to wrangle you into their program tells you that if you use their services for over a year without results and you cancel your Agreement. Well, They did a fantastic job with the initial design of my website and paid for their services for almost two years without one single job being provided to our company from them. Their monthly reports are bogus and firstly couldn't even download them until I had to call to complain. Plus the their team could not link my company videos to my website. I was going to be in Charlotte doing a project for one of the biggest Super Stores and called them and asked if while I was there I could stop by and see how their operation works and meet the people that handle my account face-to-face. Worst experience I have ever had as a small business owner. They solicit small businesses by calling and emailing multiple times weekly until you finally bend to their slick sales pitch. Once you sign their contract they take your website and move it to an overseas server and then you will no longer be able to access your site as an administrator. Every time I contacted them about the fact that nothing was happening as far as SEO optimization they would come back with the same empty promise that they just needed more time, "just be patient." Every time I tried to cancel they would threaten that I would lose my content and Google reviews. After 18 months and $7000 I cancelled but they would not acknowledge it. Over a month later they are still trying to collect money from my account and are threatening me. They stole my site and content and are threatening me!! Shame on this company for targeting and ripping off small business owners. I wish someone would start a class action suit! read more

Dishonest and manipulative. When I canceled my service they moved my billing date up by three days to charge me for another month of service, and refused to refund it when I asked. They also said they would UNDO the work they had done already if I did not pay a $99 monthly retainer fee. When I brought this up with that employee's manager she said I had misunderstood, which was absolutely not the case--the manager tried to cover up for an unscrupulous staff member. They also made some important mistakes in how they represented my business in the marketing campaign I hired them for, such as incorrectly listing my services, and recruiting a prostitute to follow me on Twitter, although my business is unrelated to prostitution. read more

It's a shame I have to give them even one star. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. I hired them last winter to make my business website- long story short they did a terrible job. We were told there was no contract and we could cancel services at anytime. They would not fix the errors on the website even after being contacted several times. I noticed that once payment was due my website would have more spelling errors that weren't there at the beginning of the month so that I would have to pay another month for their services in order to have them fixed. They would never call on our scheduled conference call dates either. We decided to stop all services with them. We were told everything was cancelled. A month later they tried taking $300 out of my account not once but twice. After that was refunded weeks later they did it again illegally as they were only supposed to take the first months payment is all. We were given the run around and basically were told by Chris I. that if we didn't like it their lawyers would be waiting to hear from us. He told my husband "what are you going to do about it, I'm in another state and I'm not doing shit for you. Our bank was given all the emails we had showing they were not authorized to do that and eventually blocked all payments from going through to them after that. Chris I. finally called my husband back and gave us our refund probably because we reported his behavior. We were also told we owned the rights to my website when we started services and after another few weeks they illegally removed my website completely and have yet to give me the rights to my domain. I was so glad to be done with them I didn't even care. Now fast forward to summer- my business has had a consistent 5 star rating on Google and Yelp for more than two years. I was told that someone posted a nasty review on Google about my business. It was from a girl named Angel Schmalz. She was dumb enough to use her real profile and name and it was pretty easy to find out who she was since I knew I had never had a client by that name. Upon looking at her social media I saw that she worked for Town square media interactive. Imagine that. I had never met her or worked with her directly so it was clear that she was seeking out who I was and my business. I contacted her calling her out on her crap and like the coward she is she blocked me. Her boss, Sid Hardt was called and we explained what his employee was doing. He apologized and said he was embarrassed and had her remove those reviews and remove her job title off social media (probably because she's done this a lot to other people and he did not want them figuring out what his low life employee was doing). The reviews were removed only from Google but not Yelp. She then made fake profiles and copied and pasted everything in the previous reviews and flooded my reviews with more poor ratings and lies. In her reviews she said that I was lazy, mean, overpriced and that when services were done in her home things went missing- basically accusing me and my staff of theft and burglary. The fact that she has that much time on her hands just shows how pathetic she is. If you look on their reviews here you'll see how pretty much everyone who uses their services thinks poorly of them. She was mad that her company has real poor reviews and she was jealous that I have outstanding reviews. Dear angel Schmalz, putting fake reviews on about my business isn't going to make your business thrive nor will it make you more money. You just made yourself look desperate and pathetic. It must really bother you that I am doing well and you're probably not making much at your job. I wonder what else you have to do to get ahead at your job?
