SO wanted steak and I wanted to try the Uni tagliatelle. I know, it's counterproductive to be ordering pasta at a steak restaurant but I don't eat beef and didn't feel like fish. I also ordered the kale salad. They gave us ceviche on a small tortilla chip (they called it a taco) as an amuse bouche. It was fresh and crunchy. My kale salad came out and it was not a Californian's kale salad but more radicchio/butter lettuce/kale salad. Thank goodness this was small. It was refreshing. My Uni tagliatelle was delicious - the creaminess of the uni and the creamy sauce and perfectly cooked tagliatelle made this a decadent dish. I was so full I couldn't eat dessert. SO said his steak was really good. We were so full we couldn't order dessert but they brought out a tray of small vanilla cream puffs for us which was a nice finish to our dinner. Service was attentive when we sat down but got kind of lost after the restaurant filled up.

My rating is based on: Food: 4 stars Atmosphere: 4.5 stars Service: 4 stars The interior of the restaurant is immaculate and really radiates a fine dining vibe. Service was good as to be expected from a place of this caliber and price level. I ordered the A5 Wagyu steak, beef tartare, and Mac and cheese. Steak was prepared at a nice medium rare and the meat was supper fatty and tender. This was definitely the best part of the meal. We also had the tartar which is a dish they are known for. It wasn't my favorite but I'm not a beef tartar fan. The Mac and cheese was really rich, creamy and cheesy with a nice char on top for crunch. I enjoyed this dish quite a bit. Beef bar is one of the better steak houses that I have tried in Hong Kong and would recommend it for a date night or special occasion.

Post-COVID, it's gotten worse year over year and now that Nicholini is closed, the buffet no longer stretches across the entire floor, it's limited to just Brasserie. The restaurant was packed to the gills pre-COVID but now only a handful of tables were occupied while we were there. Gone is the unlimited lobster, shrimp and other seafood and instead you'll get a platter with one of each and if you want oysters, you have to pay a surcharge of US$4 per piece. There's no longer a carving station and instead they put out a braised beef stew and another low quality item I can't even remember. The sushi/sashimi station is also gone and instead you'll get a pre-assembled fish bite of some kind. The live pasta station is still there but with mediocre selection, it's good but not something you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The rest of the buffet is just so sad with very limited and low quality selections, there's a tuna fish salad on offer, need I say more? They're also stingy with their champagne, we had to ask for a refill a couple of times and they stopped pouring half an hour before closing. We've given this restaurant more chances than it deserves and this time we're saying goodbye to them for good. For the price that we paid which was over US$150 per person, there're better choices out there.

The steak was very tender and juicy, making every bite melting in your mouth. Also, the steak had a good amount of salt, not needing to add more salt unlike most steak places I've tried. The steak had a good meat to fat ratio. The spinach was sautéed with garlic. The spinach had a very strong and delicious garlic flavor plus the perfect amount of salt and juiciness. Worth to try. Also, although the rice was just simple and steamed, the rice tasted good and it wasn't over cooked. The seating area was nice and had a nice outside view. Although the price may seem pricy, the food quality was totally worth it. Overall, very delicious meal and will come again to possibly try another dish. 10/10

When the waitress took my flank steak order, I noticed she didn't ask me how I'd liked it cooked. I told her I'd like it rare and she responded they only did it medium. While the snail ragout was interesting and tasted good, it lacked presentation. The mains however were quite disappointing. The flank steak was rubbery and even after chewing for a while, I couldn't break apart any piece I painstakingly sawed off the main piece and basically swallowed them whole. Also, my companions' eggplants, while not tough like my steak, were unbelievably salty, such that my companions could not finish their eggplant dish at all. In addition, throughout this time, no one refilled my glass of water, and although I did enjoy the dessert, I noticed my napkin had been taken and I wasn't given a replacement, so I had nothing to wipe my mouth with while eating the dessert! I believe lunch times they offer a AYCE sort of option, where you get a main and then the salad bar is buffet. I've been to it before and it's pretty good. I've heard however since COVID they have changed it somewhat. The other night I came and got the seafood guazzetto, which is about $300 HKD, and has a bunch of different things such as fish, octopus, clams, etc. Lots of seafood essentially. Other things I tried included the sides of brussel sprouts, mushrooms, bruschetta, some of my brother's sirloin steak, some of the fish of the day (halibut?). Overall, the food is quite nice. I will say, they tend to use a bit too much butter/oil here. I know this is kind of true whenever you eat out, but here it is definitely noticeable. We shared the florentina (aka the porterhouse. A 32oz wagyu beast) and a filet. The meats came on a cutting board already cut, so the sharing was easy. They were perfectly seasoned, tender, and flavorful. We had roasted veggies and creamed spinach as sides. The latter was addictive! Chef Todd was around to explain their meat selection when I walked around to check them out in the case. We didn't get to send our regards to him, as we stayed late and were the last to leave. Todd, if you're reading this, hail to the chef! We went without a reservation and were seated right away. It was a Thursday night, but we had gotten there around 9 which might explain the vacancy. It's a great option for groups and celebratory dinners :)

I've been on a mission to find tiramisu just as good ever since then, but to no luck. My friend was adamant about ordering the gnocchi here so I gave in, and thank Buddha that I did. It was better than the other pasta dish (might've been carbonara) that we ordered. The ambiance was also perfect to enjoy some charcuterie with wine. I absolutely loved the open kitchen. We had a reservation in a big semi-private room.  We had a super large table that could accommodate our party of 15, though a little crowded, there was adequate room. And the room was nicely decorated. Service was good but not refined.  It was nice that our main female server happily took group photos for us. The most memorable was the very innovative and fun dim sum!  I could see that they put in a lot of care to create and craft those dim sum, which didn't only look attractive, but tasted excellent.  This was the first time that I ever had Deep-fried Turnip Cakes, which had a nice crunchy battered outside, and delicious mashed turnip inside.  The boar shaped glutinous dumplings and gold fish shaped shrimp dumplings were other examples of excellence in both form and taste. It's worth mentioning that there's a pet park on the rooftop of the building.  Unfortunately it was closed for a private event the day we were there. I highly recommend the Greater China Club if you are in Hong Kong.

Upon arriving at the building, it might be a tad confusing since it's an industrial building refitted for retail spaces -- the elevator and lobby look a tad empty, and it might feel like the wrong place. But once you've arrived at the floor, it'd be clear there's a fancy schmancy restaurant here. We've always gone with one of the set menus that the waiters recommend. They've never disappointed -- the way the food is served, the service, and the flavours. They often like to use dry ice for dramatic effect, but even simple dishes are served in an orderly, beautiful manner. Their seafood dishes don't disappoint (the abalone!), but the star is always the dessert for me. The black sesame roll is melt-in-your-mouth goodness, and their various jellos are always on point with the flavouring - subtle yet fragrant. I found their dim sum service more pricey for the amount of food, and prefer their dinner service. The waitstaff is always fantastic, which is a rarity in Hong Kong sometimes. Overall, it's a place I'll definitely bring guests to for a taste of high end Cantonese food, as well as for family celebrations.
