Where it fell short were in the small details. This is a wonderful pet friendly hotel, and I was thrilled to see all of the happy tails wagging, but sadly the doggie treat canister was empty the entire time of my 3 night stay. I pointed it out to the staff, but nothing was done... not even cleaning the crumbs out, or even simply removing the canister! Although the actual hotel is inviting, the rooms are bit outdated. The armoire knobs were replaced, and no one cared to paint or stain the raw wood that now showed. I also wondered why the bathroom only provided one towel hook on the bathroom door when it was a 2 queen bed room... and had no clue where to hand the wet pool towels! The outlet near my bed did not work, so had to charge my phone overnight in the bathroom area. Being deaf in one ear that made it difficult to hear my alarm. 2 things that annoyed me most were... 1. Many times no one was at the front door to hold the door open for struggling guests. I watched 3 different times people wrestle with their dogs, doggie bed, and luggage to get through the door by themselves. I understand someone can't be there all the time, but the installation of automatic doors should be considered. 2. Their front desk staff obviously have not been taught that 'The customer in front of you always comes first'. I stood politely and waited for the front desk person to finish their texting or email on their phone. She acknowledged me, began working on my issue, then answered the ringing desk phone, and instead of asking them to please hold a minute, she stopped helping me and dealt with their issue. I know it's a little thing, but I was annoyed. Anyway... like I said in the beginning, it was a nice hotel and overall enjoyable, but it was not the 'boutique' experience I expected for the price.

The corporate ownership of this hotel is awful…read more The room that I reserved was not available when I checked in and I had to share a bed with someone I did not want to share a bed with. The person at the front desk seemed understanding, but powerless to help. My reservation clearly showed that I reserved a room with two queen beds. One of the reservations made by my family was two separate two day reservations (four consecutive days but made as two separate reservations). We clarified that we had the same room for the whole four day stay when we checked in. At an impressively inconvenient time midday of the third day our key card stopped working. The front desk explained that corporate required us to recheck in to the room at that time and this process took longer than seems necessary in 2026 (when our stuff was already in the room and we had done the same thing two days prior). This is clearly a low functioning hotel management system that creates unnecessary and unpleasant steps for its staff and guests. The rooms are fine but a bit dated, generally showing some wear, there were multiple old USB outlets but zero modern USB outlets, service in the restaurant is incredibly slow and the food is very uneven. It's hard to mess up pizza as bad as one we got. One of our servers was completely untrained, although very polite and sincerely trying their best. Staff are friendly and our interactions with the front desk and folks cleaning rooms were very pleasant. The morning coffee and afternoon wine and snacks in the lobby was nice. There are nice seating options in the lobby and in the interior courtyard as well. The location is great with very short walks to the river or the beautiful old downtown area. There is a lovely small park adjacent to the hotel and we enjoyed sitting on benches in the shade of elegant old oaks. Old Savannah is a gem and a highlight of our trip. The gym is tiny and worthless. Generally speaking the Kimpton Brice is overpriced for what you get. The most disappointing aspect of my experience was that the location is great and the human beings working on the premises are also great, but the experience was degraded by the folks at IHG or whatever corporate scam is hurting this hotel.

Would definitely stay here again!

Other than that, if we ever stop by Savannah again I would stay here again. Side note, I did not experience any haunted activity thankfully!

She bought and rebuilt the place after a fire completely destroyed the building. Breakfast was hearty and delicious, but the best thing was her presence and the conversation with her and her wealth of information with a keen sense of humor woven in her stories. She is petite in stature but a giant in encyclopedic facts and story telling. The only flaw was that we arrived close to 11:00 pm, and it was very dark and the house number had been painted over with white paint and it was indistinguishable from the rest of the door frame so we had to ask the front desk of a neighboring hotel that were able to show me a road view of the building that we recognized after driving by it. All-in-all, a very positive experience, highly recommend.

The whole time my fiancé and I were at The Confederate House we felt uncomfortable... 1. There is no cable. She makes it seem like there is but she doesn't pay for 90% of channels so you're stuck watching infomercials & CSPAN before bed. 2. I kept finding hairs in the shower and on the bed sheets that did not belong to us. 3. The house itself is pretty rundown. She tries to blame it on the hurricane. Some of the damage is clearly from that but many other elements of the house are just diy repairs that look patchy. 4. The food was absolutely disgusting. HUGE chunks of fat left on the ham, canned pineapple, sunny D versus orange juice, etc. 5. Colleen (the innkeeper) talks about her political beliefs. I hate to give her a bad review but it just wasn't an experience I would suggest others visiting Savannah pay $100 a night for. We stayed at the Best Western Central Inn for 2 nights prior to coming to The Confederate and let's just say I would have rather stayed at The Best Western and it was only $60/night!!

Our first night we couldn't get the TV or the wi-fi to work?! The next morning when we mentioned it, one of the guests said that someone mentioned that they had problems, too. Of course, we said something to the person who worked there and they said they'd had problems with the wifi and gave us the staff wifi password which solved that problems. They said they would have someone look at the tv, but it still didn't work that night. Turns out a previous guest had used it to play video games and it wasn't reset. That is something that needs to be looked at before the next guests arrive. Also, we didn't have any bath products in the shower, so I had to go down and ask for them. One of the drawers in the armoire got seriously stuck and the lampshades are so dark that we had to remove them just so we could see well enough to read at night. There are only 4 parking spaces attached to the property in the back although we are allowed to use another parking lot where there is no direct access to. The good is that it's a neat old house that is very close to Forsyth Park and the back is really pretty with all the wisteria in bloom. On the ground level in the back there is a really pretty fountain/fish pond area. The room we were in had a shared balcony off the back with stairs that access the back ground area. Lots of neat antiques throughout the house. Great front porch. Breakfast was wonderful and they gave you options as to when you wanted to eat. I liked the tea bar set up in the smaller dining room, too. Some very different teas, too. I'm afraid to say that I wouldn't recommend it.

We always looked forward to returning to Savannah partly because we loved the DPH so much. For this reason, we decided to book a family holiday trip and stayed here over the Christmas week of 2013 (about 4-5 months ago). The inn is under new management/ownership and things just are NOT the same. There always used to be very friendly people running the place- they would always talk to you about where and what to eat, fun activities, local happenings, etc. But now that's not really the case. Also, they did make an exception for our dogs to stay, although they are not dog friendly. This kind of turned into a bit of a nightmare, when the innkeeper's girlfriend Emily was around. She had frantically mentioned the dogs were heard scratching at the door when we were gone. She told me she was really concerned so i offered to show her the inside of the room. She said no. Why not just come see that there is no damage or issue and put it to rest? There's a long story involved with things like this happening the entire stay. If they were uncomfortable, then they should have just not let the dogs stay. Mid-stay, which was xmas eve day, Emily insisted we board the dogs somewhere, but there were no openings that last minute. Colin and Tim were the only saving graces this place had. They made bfast each morning, and all the food was great. They were sweet and helpful when around. They also mentioned Emily has a very bad tendency to over react, and said they had been alone with the dogs for multiple days with NO ISSUES at all. It was a relief to have both of them there after Emily had made us extremely uncomfortable. The rooms had old TVs, and i know there are so many things to do in Savannah, but does that mean you can't enjoy TV in bed before passing out? This week there was literally not even a local channel working- my entire family thought this was a little crazy- especially at over 230$ per night! Another issue we had was NO housekeeping/room cleaning over the holiday week. They must have that issue often, as i see that complaint on other yelp reviews. We brought this to their attention, and they ended up giving a one night credit on an 8 night stay. Not too impressive. Sadly, i will not be staying at the DPH going forward. There are too many other gorgeous B&Bs in Savannah to waste time here- although it never used to be like this!

I've stayed at this hotel multiple times while working in the Savannah area, but after this most…read morerecent stay, I'm honestly not sure I'll stay here again. The standard rooms are much smaller than I expected. The shower design also allows water to splash all over the bathroom floor, so I had to use several towels just to keep the floor dry. The AC was probably one of the most annoying parts of the room. It is extremely loud and sounds almost like an air compressor running. On top of that, it does not cool the room to the temperature you set. I would set it to 67-68 degrees, and the room would still stay around 72-74 degrees. The pillows are also extremely flat and uncomfortable. The biggest issue during my stay was the elevators. One or both elevators were broken for a large portion of the time I was there. There were even days when both were out of service, and another guest got stuck in one of the elevators during my stay. The laundry situation is also frustrating, especially for a hotel designed for extended stays. It costs $3.50 to wash and another $3.50 to dry, but there is no quarter machine. You have to rely on the front desk having quarters available, and about half the time they didn't. One time I had already washed my clothes and went downstairs to get more quarters for the dryer, but the front desk didn't have any, and the employee working at the time was absolutely no help. There are some positives. The gym is actually very good for a hotel, and I didn't have any major cleanliness issues. Overall, though, this stay was disappointing. For an extended-stay hotel, reliable elevators, working AC, comfortable rooms, and a functional laundry setup should be basic expectations. I've stayed here several times for work, but after this experience, I'll probably be looking at other options next time.
