We have been taking all our pets to TCVH since they opened at their first location. Drs Pam Goble & Carol Kujala, the owners, must have started out in their teens because they're still so young, vibrant & active. There are at least 5 other vets & 7 or so techs & support staff. During their hours of operation, you can call them anytime to ask questions; it's free & they all are very knowledgeable.
We've had numerous cats & dogs, one dog was 18 when he died. Our latest is an 8-yr-old cocker spaniel. That poor dog has been sick since the day the breeder dropped her off. I think there was a period of 2 months last year when she didn't have to go in for some problem. She never has a "normal" problem. They are very understanding at TCVH & Mandy always gets the love & care she needs & deserves, which is why she loves going there & although she's nervous once she's on a table, she knows they're just trying to help. Mandy had a serious back problem once. Her back legs became paralyzed & she couldn't walk. She had crystals in her back. Dr Kujula didn't think surgery was the way to go because she could get crystals again in a different place. After using acupuncture, Chinese herbs, & massage she got better & occasionally her back goes out, but after a couple of treatments, she's ok again. It wasn't costly at all. An operation would have been. Mandy had an elongated palate which caused her to have apnea-type symptoms in the middle of the night, but after Dr. King operated on her, she's been great. She also had a non-cancerous tumour on her outer ear that Dr Sabanathan (the only male there) removed. A couple of years ago we thought we lost her because her liver & stomach swelled & she almost had complete liver failure. Everyone there worked as a team to see her through it. Sometimes they didn't charge for visits so they aren't just there to make money. Just last month, Dr Goble removed 3 growths & a wart & did a dental all under anesthetic. After 2 days, Mandy was already overdoing it. They even call us at home just to see how Mandy's doing. The other day when Mandy was there for a checkup, I heard a tech talking on the phone with someone whose dog got bit by a coyote but she didn't have money. She told that person just to bring her dog in & they'd figure something out. I know most Vets are expensive, but so are our dentist, & chiropractor. When you have pets, unfortunately, things happen & you have no choice but to make sure they get medical treatment. There's nothing wrong with shopping around for a lower price, just remember that sometimes the quality of care could also be lower, which will not be good for your pet in the long run. We may be able to get a better price elsewhere for Mandy, but never better care. She's not only part of our family, she's also part of theirs. That's something you don't get everywhere. We want only the best for her & that's what she's getting. read more
